Whew, Man is it hot out!!

//Looks around in new cooler//

Cool, Bergie put in those tanks I wanted!

//Runs outside, brings in what looks to be a set of tappers, installs on counter, runs back out with pallet jack, brings in two pallets of dry Gatorade and Squincher products, puts in cooler, adds product to tanks, turns on water to fill tanks, fires up pumps for the tappers//

There, this is now the only place I know of with Gatorade and Squincher on tap!!

Anyway, was hot enough yesterday at work that they brought out the Squincher halfway through the night, was needed as I went through at least a gallon of water and Gatorade combined.  Gotta work tonight, hopefully will be a fast night.  Also heard at our meeting last night that plant quality left a lot to be desired (heard something along the lines of a 120% defect rate, not good) but it seemed our hours and quality were the best in the plant (and we aim to keep it that way!)

Stay cool everyone, feel free to use the new Gatorade and Squincher taps, I got a line running to the outside for filling Mudchicken's 55-gallon IV drip as well.

Good Morning All

It is nice to see James from down under join us.  Smile [:)]

It is going to be another hot one here.  We had a quick shower this morning but there was blue sky overhead at the time.  Black Eye [B)]  It bearly rained enough to move the dust around on the truck.

I would love to trade 10 degrees of summer hot weather for 10 degress of winter weather for the next 2 months.  Smile [:)]   When you step outside it is like stepping into an oven.  Shock [:O]

Nothing else to report today.

Everyone Take Care

Buenos Dias!

Well, despite the mercury climbing very high here yesterday, I went out for about a 30 mile bike ride. Wasn't too bad except for the mosquitos! Having a weekend full of rain followed by hot, dry weather is a perfect recipe for lots of those buggers. Oh well...the benefit was that it made me keep my pace up (they couldn't bite what they couldn't catch!)

Speaking of hot weather, I thought I'd put up my first picture to decorate the new place. Check this out:

That was taken on the Tundra Trail near the Rock Cut on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park last weekend. The temperature up there was aroun 40ºF, the windspeed was around 35 mph, and there was snow mixed in with the rain! Ah yes...if you don't like the weather in Colorado, wait 15 minutes or drive 15 miles!

Well, must be off to tackle a rather large pile of work that has amassed on my desk. Hope you all have a great day!

TTFN!

Sorry Dave...No extra rain right here to share....It's been very spotty.  Some parts of Indiana recently had up to 4 inches and we've had a fraction of that here.

Mowed our yard again yesterday and all the brown spots aren't quite recovered to green yet, although it looks pretty good overall.  We are in a very warm and humid time now....{typical for Indiana this time of the year}, but it sure is sticky outside.

Hope you fellows do get some rain....Don't let it run away since you are upside down you know.....

Mookie, love your new earrings!!Cool [8D]  If you're ready, I've got a big mug of coffee ready for you,
along with a small bowl of milk.  Or, would you like orange juice or lemonade this morning?

Breakfast this morning:  bacon, eggs, sausage, gravy, hash browns, or you can have oatmeal, or
rice w/toast.

Got some nice fish for today.  Cod, flounder, catfish, perch, and tuna steaks.

Think we'll serve breakfast out on the balcony this morning.  Should give us a clear view of the tracks,
and it is such a nice morning.

Everyone have a great day, and take care.

%^~^% -  Say - I kind of like the new color scheme.  Now I will have a lot more earrings to wear.

MC - You are back and you brought Gus!  Hot Dog!  Big Smile [:D]

Quentin:  You should be able to go to your profile and everything there should be as before, except for the picture.  You may have to click an ok to make sure your profile doesn't need changing, but then your signature should show up.

Pictures all disappeared.  I was lucky - I had a nice young man that does our programming help me with my avatar.  It didn't look all that hard - but over someone's shoulder is not quite like doing it.

BC - thanx for my avatar.  Do you remember it?

CW - I tried to write you a personal message, but haven't quite got the hang of send and delete....well, that's because I have no opposable thumbs (makes a good excuse anyway.  Try typing with a paw!)  But thanx for the compliment.  See above.

100 degrees this weekend will not put much of a crimp in my train watching.  It will however, definitely put a crimp in me.  Need to install a sprinkler under our favorite bridge while we watch in the shade.  Maybe a lemonade stand - (for the wildlife of course)

Just remember people - you don't have to sand, scrape, shovel or slide on this.  In fact you don't have to do anything.  It is just there!

Only 2 cans?  Heck I'm still wrestling with the signature and color for text within it!  I'm taking a break and heading to an adult beverage place of business!  BTW anyone familiar with the fairly recent remake of "The Longest Yard"?

Thanks Quentin Big Smile [:D] - it will take time, like all big changes. Wink [;)] Can you send any rain Downunder?  Three of the four eastern seaboard States down here are in the grip of a protracted drought.  There are very few towns, cities and local government areas that are not under some form of water restrictions. Ah thank God this old track gang is still around ...

Let's see, maybe a few days to find out if I can take an effective hack at the new Trains website look.

Heh, I think it was so slick that I nearly fell off.

I think I'll bum around here fer a while.

"There is nothing in life that compares with running a locomotive at 80-plus mph with the windows open, the traction motors screaming, the air horns fighting the rush of incoming air to make any sound at all, automobiles on adjacent highways trying and failing to catch up with you, and the unmistakable presence of raw power. You ride with fear in the pit of your stomach knowing you do not really have control of this beast." - D.C. Battle [Trains 10/2002 issue, p74.]

Alrighty now, I have looked around for the last couple days and like what I see here. I just need to figure out how to put one of those cute little pictures under my name like most everyone else has.

I just got done mowing about 45 minutes ago and need a snack. Are the any leftovers in the fridge at "The Cook's" house.

Everyone have a great evening and great weekend. I get to play volleyball in blistering heat tomorrow night. Oh, what fun.

IT'S HOT!!! But I ain't complaining much. It could be worse.

Hey, Sarah, did you save any snow from that picture of the Starucca Viaduct?  It would feel good about now.  Or maybe it would just sizzle a little before it melts.--AMG

Sarah - Isn't that just the most amazing structure?!?  And to think it was built around 1850....

When I went to take a look at it, I came in from the north (off NYS17).  Rounded a corner and THERE IT WAS!  Wow!  One of these days I have to catch it with a train on it.  Did you go up to Susquehanna and check out that station?

Think I finally have my account straightened out.  I'll take that other 55 gallon drum of Gatorade.  Believe I'll head south and work on the railroad again this weekend.  Highs are supposed to hit 90, and I can't spend all my time in the air conditioned coach.

He he he...we've done that a time or three. Best occurence didn't involve a laborer, though. A city inspector was on one of our R&R jobs, and he got some concrete on his boots while testing the slump. While trying to wash off his boots, he hit the wrong valve at first, and forgot to turn it off. The concrete passed tests until we discovered that he had added around 30-40 gallons into the mix! Ooooops!

So....this is what the new format looks like. Hummm... interesting. Actually, it's pretty cool once you get the hang of it. I do miss some of the things the old format had. However, the new format is much better in terms of hosting URLs and various pictures, in certain types of format. No longer do you have to have a web site "host" a picture for you if you would like to post in on these forums. The new format hosts the pics for you. Unfortunitly, it doesn't allow you to "download" pics directly off of your hard drive, unless you have Avatar activated, which doesn't effect posting pics in messages. I believe if you want to post a pic you it has to be backed up, by a valid protocal, if that makes any sence. You can also hiperlink now, w/o useing what I like to call the old "bracketing" method, that all of us used to have to do.

Since, I'm still on the verge of experamenting with the new format.....here is a pic that I took of the Struckaa Viaduct in Upper Susquehanna County, PA.

Since I've been busy doing some necessary cleaning this afternoon, here is the supper menu for tonight:

BLTS w/fries and cole slaw

Dessert:  your choice of Jim's birthday cake (white w/white frosting & birthday decorations) or a
chocolate cake.  There is also plenty of ice cream to go with the cake.

Joe:  Thanks for making some more lemonade.  With this heat, lemonade sure does hit the spot.
