Whenever we find me a three-wheeler, I'll be joining them!  (I don't have the coordination and balance to ride a regular bike.)

When Ricki was young, she was given a bicycle one Christmas (she had expected a pony), and she did learn to ride it, but she hated every moment of riding it. She now pushes a tricycle (rollator, walker) which is light and can be easily carried in the car. She likes shopping carts because they are stable.

I didn't learn to ride a bicycle until I was in the sixth grade; when I was in the seventh grade, I started carrying an afternoon newspaper on a ten mile route. Now, I haven't ridden a bicycle in almost thirty years, and I don't want to ride on one with a narrow saddle (the standard equipment now).

Tom, Mookie, Walt, have you tried putting mayonnaise on asparagus? It works wonders (Mudchicken, it can help on lima beans, too). I doubt that any of you went out back and cut fresh wild asparagus (making sure that it is not too old and thus is tough).

You may keep your English peas; they are beyond redemption.

If you were commenting on Lima Beans I'd understand...But asparagus has such lifesaving qualities, especially when constantly watered by T-storms along the CO/NE border.

Now how do they grow it inside the cans?Clown

Meantime, I'm investigating ways to get a case of canned asparagus to vanish quietly!  Everybody take care

For sure Tom....That should get some serious thought...!

Here,,,,We have a georgeous morning unfolding.  I haven't seen such beauty here in a while.  Sunshine, and low humidity along with our place is "neated up"  rather well now...{trimmed shrubs, yard neatly mowed, etc...}, and beauty out over the golf course this nice morning is so refreshing...Very comfortable temps....Windows open...Just great...!

And Walt....We'll watch for your photos.

No I didn't, it's ARG in French! Good morning all. 76 and overcast in Carolina. More thunderstorms forecast for later. Well, there was a conspiracy in the house last night. At some point, the girls pooled resources and decided that no one was gonna get any sleep! They've been going at it hammer and tongs, and still are as of this writing. They've been thrown out of the house several times with no result! Meantime, I'm investigating ways to get a case of canned asparagus to vanish quietly!  Everybody take care

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Not too bad outside this morning; current temp of about 69, 70 degrees, with a little bit of a breeze, and sun shining.  High for today is to be in the upper 80s, pushing 90.

Coffee, juices, lemonade, Gatorade, iced teas and hot water for hot tea are ready.  And, on the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, fried eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits (just in case anyone would like to layer the breakfast menu on a couple of biscuits and make a sandwich), and hash brown potatoes.

The gutter guys and gals are supposed to be back out this morning, to repair one of the new gutters, that seems to have a nice leak in it.  The last couple of days that we had rain, the water just continually dripped from near the end of the gutter.

I hope everyone had a very nice weekend, and hope you all have a very good day today.  Enjoy your breakfast, keep as cool as possible, and take care!

Mookie:  got your coffee mug ready for you!

Walt.....thought we'd see some photos of your bike ride today.....Wasn't it to some tower......?

Quentin, last Sun. and then again today, we loaded the bikes into Sarah' Jeep and went to a rail tower here to start our rides; last week we didn't really see any trains, this week we almost hadn't gotten out of Jeep and bikes unloaded before we saw some action.

The tower, is Clagg Tower, ex Pennsylvania, guarding the south side of the lift bridge over the canal that leads to the locks and dam here. Haven't gotten the pictures uploaded to Shutterfly yet, so I guess I'll try and get several posted tomorrow. Just a little tired after the heat and humidity today, along with riding a few more miles than we should have.(in the heat and humidity!)

We have been laying a supply of canned foodstuffs, just in case..... The wife brought home a whole case of canned asparagus! Major gross out, bummer, yick pooey! Ptui!

you forgot gag!

There are few more words that I can think of for/about asparagus, but since this is a "Family" Forum, I can't post them here. So I guess I'll have to live with your all's. (YUCK!!!!)

edit:  In my Immediate family growing up, there was my father, mother, sister and myself; the Only person in our household that would eat asparagus was my father; there were times when it was served, several of us wanted to eat in another room!

Joe and everybody else:  Sunday Dinner is now on the warmer bar:

Italian lasagna w/garlic Texas toast, or garlic bread w/a nice, tossed garden salad.

I'm here at home by myself:  Walt and Sarah have loaded up their bikes in/on the Jeep, and gone back to Clagg Tower, to ride their bikes before it gets too hot outside.  Whenever we find me a three-wheeler, I'll be joining them!  (I don't have the coordination and balance to ride a regular bike.)

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, keep as cool as possible, and take care.

HI ALL!!!!

The Calafornia Zypher was GREAT!!!!!!!!!! A little rocky and rolly, but it was sooooooo awesome! I loved it! I'm using the hotels computer now. That is a cool feature. I really enjoyed the BNSF "Racetrack" It was cool to whiz past all the people and stations. I've never seen so many coal trains!!! I mean we say 15 just last night and today! Well, I'm having a great time. Were headed to Garden of the Gods after we eat here in a moment.

PS, Paul, if you are reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TIPS!  Thay really came in handy.

Tom - Ouch!  Since your funny bone is located in the elbow, that had to have been extremely painful!

We are dry, dry, dry - but temp-wise not too bad.  Mid 70's right now and mid 80's later.  We are going into our dry time of the year.

Looks like we are the busy department on the forum right now.  My - who would have ever thought that!  Mischief

Off to check the BNSF pulse for today.  Make sure they are still making noise.

Good Sunday morning to everyone.  Nice outside right now, but we're to get up into the upper 90s today, with plenty of haze and mugginess.  It seems that the rain is passing by us, and going to the south, and southeast of us.Sad

Coffee, juices, lemonade, Gatorade, iced teas and hot water for hot tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  your choice of blueberry or strawberry muffins, or you can have:  turkey bacon or sausage w/buttermilk pancakes w/ maple syrup, blueberry or strawberry syrup, and scrambled eggs.

I hope everyone has a very good Sunday.  If you have to be out in the heat today, please be sure you stay hydrated, and stay as cool as possible.

CW - did you know Cool Whip makes what they call a chocolate dip (they named it after me! Approve)

and if you put it on yellow cake instead of frosting, it is scrumdillicious!

Good Sunday morning, Mookie!

Mookie, I think I've seen the chocolate Cool Whip, and I believe I tasted a cake yesterday that had Cool Whip for 'icing'.  After Sarah finished her EMS Practicals Final, she stopped at her f.d.:  they had a picnic yesterday, that we (Walt and I) forgot about.  Anyway, she brought home some cake, chocolate and white, with what tasted to me like Cool Whip as the icing.  It was really good!!

Ten thousand people in town for la Festival Francaise', and it rained, for a while.  Cleared up, though, and later showers petered out, so we got through the parade (love bagpipes!).

Fireworks went off without a hitch, too.  Now it's time for bed.

Q - Well, he is either a chief or a chef.  But he talks in pounds of veggies and many large pans of some kind of main dish.  But at home, a ham sandwich is a real trial.  (I think it is harder to make something here since you don't have everything right at your fingertips!)

1.  Glad to hear someone got some rain overnight, or this morning.  We haven't gotten anything yet, not even a sprinkle or two like you, Quentin.

Shout it from the housetops....!  Rain, this morning.  Just returned back to Muncie after taking granddaughter back to Indy to parents, and as soon as we left this morning, it started to rain.....Really rain...!  Now being back, I checked our rain gauge here and we've  {so far}, had .35"...Not bad.  Most we've had in weeks.  Just in time, as grass and crops really are needing rain.

Good Morning Everybody!

Its 81 degress here in Alamo City and we have the making of another hot one today.  Expected high is 100.  No rain at all in sight through the week.

The good news is that the weather people here said that the La Nina pattern in the Pacific (which causes drought condition in this part of the country) is starting to be replaced with the El Nino pattern.  El Nino is good for us as it steers rain systems toward us.

Enjoy your Saturday
