Well, it looks like we've had a very slow day in here today.  No Mookie, no Mutt, and I have been doing errands.  Think I got almost everything taken care of.

Justin, sounds like you're going to have a very nice theme for next school year:  "What I Did on my Summer Vacation!"

For supper tonight, I took what's left of the meat loaf, and have made meat loaf sandwiches  w/mashed taters & gravy, green beans and there's some roast, taters and carrots left in the Crock Pot.

We have had mostly cloudy conditions today.  Not much sun at all, and hardly any breeze.  Believe our high today got to 71.

You all enjoy your supper, your evening, and take care.

Hi All! Counting down the day's till' summer break! 2 Weeks I think! Also this is really cool..... i'M GOIG ON AN AMTRAK TRIP TO ROCKEY MTN. NATNIAL PARK! I'm not lying' mom just has to book it and then in a few months wele be on our way! I'm sooooo excited! But what's not so exciting is that mom has to go in for surgery on Thursday. Hope that will take care of her pain... But god answer's prares so I think he will here too. Larry, That sounds like a funny comic! We had a Close to home comic the other day that was of a woman and her husband in a romantic setting. The woman had just opened her new Toilet paper dispenser 4000. It read, After Mrs. Willson got this gift for her anaversary present, the party quickly took a nosedive.

Furnace guy is cleaning the furnace right now.  Sounds like he has his hands full.  I know it's been at least two years since it was last serviced....

Nice day here today.  My tulips are blooming nicely (for some reason they seem to go from one end of the bulb garden to the other).

Sheets are out drying on the line - boy, they smell nice.  One of the cartoons in the paper last week had one woman saying to another "the clothes always smell better when they're dried outside."   As they stand in the yard watching the clothes tumble in the dryer.....

Paula, thanx for the breakfast!!

Going to be in the 80's in AZ mountains this week. I will miss some of it as I go to CO to attend a 100th birthday celebration of a dear friend of my deceased mother. This ladies kids are of my vintage and we all grew up in a small town so I will not mind the 770 mile, each way, drive to be with them.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  I hope you all have a very good evening, and got some good rest last night:  at least those of you who didn't have to go to work last night.  Temp's not too bad this morning, in the mid 50s, with a little bit of light rain.  Supposed to get to about 70 for a high today.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready; and, if anyone wants some, there's hot cider, also.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast (or any of the boxed cereals on the counter), turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

Got several things going on today, not sure if I'll be back in for lunch.  But I'll  have the roast, taters, carrots, etc., in the Crock Pot heating, and the meat loaf is in the fridge.  Everyone have a great day, and see you later.

Here is an interesting item about Calvin Borel, rider of Mine That Bird yesterday, from  http://www.keeneland.com/racing/Biography%20Library/Borel-Calvin.pdf

His only remaining goal, he said, is to win the Kentucky Derby “by five or six lengths at odds of 5-1 or 6-1.”

He did a little better yesterday (Ricki found this for me).

Beautiful day here in the northwoods of New York.  I spent today (and yesterday) in class getting recertified so  I can keep running on the railroad.

On top of that, something must have kicked in Friday - I've got allergies I didn't know I had.  Sheesh!

Hmm, The "Ky. Derby" must be over......All the "Rich People"

that have private planes are flying over the house this morning.

I guess I should be grateful that Trains don't fly.

(Okay, no gripes; excluding Tornadoes, Hurricanes, etc.)

Have not/Did not get the chance to get out yesterday

to try and find any Derby Trains; have fouund out that

the departure for both CSX and NS "Derby Trains" will

be slightly delayed today......seems they can't find crews

for said trains?!

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  We're getting light rain here in Louisville this morning.  High today will be in the low 60s:  61or 62 for a high today, with off and on rain showers (some could be heavy), so they're suggesting for everyone to look out for localized ponding of water.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready.  Mookie, your coffee mug is on the front counter, right next to the coffee pot.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, muffins, cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls.

Tom, you're not that far ahead of me, graduating from high school.  Actually, if my first grade teacher hadn't held me back a year, I would have graduated in 1970.  But that is another story for another time.  Suffice it to say, that I was a good student, and being held back had nothing to do with bad grades.

Now to get back into the kitchen, and start working on Sunday Dinner.

Mookie has "decamped" and is pooed out.  But we had a nice visit as usual and always look forward to getting together with friends.

Willy - that must be the one that comes up on the far east tracks from the south and by-passes the yard altogether.  We get one over there every so often and it seems that it is always when I am looking the other way.

Locomutt,

You graduated the spring before the first classes started at my high school. My school has been having all kinds of 40th anniversary celebrations throughout the course of this school year.

We had a very nice day in Lincoln, with the exception of a snafu at Ruby Tuesday. Not sure why they would put garlic mayonnaise on a bacon barbeque burger, but they did. I know I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff here in the diner.

The trains were running pretty frequently. We paced a KCS "Southern Belle" most of the way back to Omaha. My opinion is that it's a pretty classy paint scheme, even if it does look a little like it belongs in a circus.

Yes Johnny, that was an exciting and very surprising finish to the race!  While I didn't exactly have a horse picked, I was kind of rooting for the ex teacher/principal, and his horse that he owned and trained himself.  That 75 year young gentlemen certainly had something going for him and the horse, to have gotten that far!

Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Anchovie;  2.  Canadian bacon;  3.  Italian sausage calzones;  4.  Pepperoni/mushroom;  5.  Cheese w/extra cheese available;  6.  Supreme

And for dessert, chocolate cake (made another couple of chocolate cakes this afternoon) and Mixed Fruit Jell-O.

Yes, Willy, congratulations on reaching this point in your life. As I look back over the fifty-five years since I finished high school, I hope you do even better than I did.

How many of you watched that little horse race in Louisville this afternoon? It certainly had an exciting finish.

Willy2
School is just about done. Monday and Tuesday are full days and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are exam days. Baccalaureate Mass is on Friday the 15th and graduation is on Monday the 18th. Then my high school career will be offically over. Kind of sad in one way, but really exciting in another way.

Willy, congratulations!  Thumbs Up

Seems like a long time ago, since my high school graduation:  Our last day, after final exams, was something like May 16 or 17, and graduation was May 29, 1971.  Definitely another lifetime ago!

Best of luck to you, Willy!  Maybe one day, we'll see you on one of our local TV stations as the new chief meteorologist.

Rain seems to have ended here, at least for now.  Wonder if we'll have rain/storms by the end of the day, around 5:30, when it will be the Run for the Roses.
