Larry, that Owen is a cutie pie!  Are you ready to send him to Mookie and me yet?Wink  Bet that idea won't roll down the tracks or fly too well, huh?Sad

We've had plenty of sunshine today, along with a nice, cool breeze.  Temp is about 70, 71 degrees right now at 5:52.

Here's our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Anchovie   2.  Cheese w/extra cheese    3.  Pepperoni/mushroom    4.  Goetta    5.  Hawaiian    6.  Supreme    7.  Italian sausage calzones

Desserts tonight:  yellow cake w/chocolate icing, chocolate cake w/white icing, peach cobbler and ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, neopolitan, Oreo, and Snickers)

Mookie, tell Driver to take care of that finger!  And everyone enjoy your supper and desserts, have a good evening, and take care.

oh,oh.   He has that "did you bring cake?" look on his face.  Big Smile

Grandpa Tree - check the floor - I think you popped a button....

69/49/69/48 - beautiful weekend in neighborhood.  BNSF on holiday.  Pushed a couple of coal trains through the yards and drug around some old Dash 8's in SF colors.  Paint on one was so bad they could have used a paintball gun on it and made it look better.  Orange door, indeed!  Where is the pride!

Well, didn't mow the yard, but landlord worked on bathroom sink pipes next door.  We share a common, small diameter pipe that collects from our individual sinks and takes it into the waste pipe.  It had a major plug in it (probably from 4 years ago when 3 kids lived there) and they must have used a small load of dynamite to open it.

Do not put any fingers, toes or small children close to drain, now!  Will take your ring right off your finger!

Fingers:  Driver put gash in 2nd left finger at work.  I thought it should have a stitch or two - more of a gash than a cut.  Well, they glued it.  And since it can't get wet or anything on the glue or it won't hold - he has a big splint and lots of tape.  It looks like he picked a fight with a gorilla instead of a piece of plastic.  With that big old splint sticking up and elevating the hand because it throbs - I asked him if he was showing me the number for his age, IQ or hat size.

Eating in my room tonite.....Sigh

.....Some serious extended grades in that area of the Alleghenies.....Pretty scenery, but I'm sure not good for trucking costs Randy.  Cumberland really locates deep in the valley.

No wonder it took tunnels and serious grading to get WM and B&O  RR's up and over that area heading west.  Original home area is in Somerset Co., Pa.and we have been in that area occasionally.

Morning all.

Writing from my sisters' new apartment in downtown Burlington, right next to the CN mainline.  Though they are on the river side of the building, can still hear the trains roll through.  I am helping them out with the rent, and it's easier on my parents.

Ran down I-68 in Maryland and West Virginia earlier in the week, remembered why I hate running that road.  Pulling the hill westbound out of Cumberland, one can watch the fuel gauge drop as I crawled up the hill at 25mph.

Congrats everyone on everything, Larry, the little one looks real cute.

Will take some breakfast, then will probably head out to parents to play Paul Bunyan.......

Good morning! Well, it looks like I am the first one in here this morning, so I will take charge of serving breakfast. The coffee is done brewing and ready to pour, and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. This morning we have the usual assortment of donuts, cream filled rolls and bear claws. The grill is hot and I've got some buttermilk pancake batter ready to pour. We also have french toast with hot maple syrup and powdered sugar, scrambled eggs, bacon and pork sausage links. Chef

I'm getting ready to go down to Vermillion, South Dakota with my sister and her husband, my brother's daughter Amy is slated to graduate from college this morning. I kind of wonder if I will see any trains on my way down there, as my luck will have it, probably not.

I see Alabama, Kansas & Missouri have had very severe storms, with some people perishing. Illinois had tornado, so far everyone OK.

Walt went out a little while ago and checked our rain guage.  I had emptied it this morning, from the overnight/early morning rainfall.  Then, we had just under a half inch.  When he went out and checked we had almost two inches of rain.  It has really poured here this afternoon, since about 3:00, 3:15.  We're under a flood watch/warning until about 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

I've replaced everything on the warmer bar for tonight's Friday Fish Fry.  Everyone enjoy, try to stay dry, if you're in the areas getting this rain/storms, and take care.

Good afternoon. It's raining here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and we could end up with a half an inch before the end of the day. I made the trek on foot to one of our local Applebee's restaurants to submit an application for employment, only to find out when I got there that they are closed until early June. I think maybe they are doing some interior remodeling. So I guess I will mail my application to them. I pretty well got soaked by the rain when I walked home though.

I was able to do a little bit of train watching when I left my house within the last hour or so. The Ellis & Eastern Railroad, which is owned by Concrete Materials runs through my neighborhood and their mainline is one block west of my house. They have four locomotivs on their roster, two of them being GP-10's. After rolling through BNSF's yard on the north side of this town, they then cross the Big Sioux River on a bridge which was originally built in 1893 by the Rock Island, before passing through my neighborhood. They were hauling twenty open hoppers filled with I am assuming crushed quartzite, and the load got too heavy for the two GP-10's, #27, #37. I watched #7 come down the line from the south, couple on to #27 and away they went, in the rain of course.

Mookie, it would be good to hold a newborn baby again, wouldn't it?  Been three years since I held one.

The first round of our Friday Fish Fry is on the warmer bar.  All the regular list of fish, and the regular side dishes, with the exception of the cole slaw and salads, which are in the fridge.  And the cakes, pies and cobblers are in the dessert cooler.

Got some more rain on its way in, some could be heavy, and have thunderboomers and high winds.  You all have a good afternoon, and see you all later on.  Take care.

Yeah, Mookie, I 'd like to get to hold a newborn baby in my arms again:  the last one was three years ago, when my neice had her baby.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now on the warmer bar.  We have all the regular fish menu items, and the regular list of desserts.

We're supposed to have the heavy rain, and first round of storms coming through shortly, I thought I'd better get the menu posted for you all.  The winds are supposed to be up, too, when one of these storms does come though.  I think that won't happen until between 4 & 5; but who knows, it come in early, with this round on its way in.

So you all enjoy your lunch, and enjoy your afternoon.  Take care!

Thunderstorms on the schedule for this afternoon, but it's just grey right now.

I don't mind driving in the rain, though, especially if I'm headed down to see the new arrival.  The family is still working things out.   Owen wants to be held (as he has been for the past 9 months - why change?), mom's not getting much rest, etc.

So gramp will give the new parents a brief break this afternoon and take over the holding duties....

Our morning is a variation of sun and clouds.  Nice and moderate temps.  Weather people are saying rain by 3 this afternoon. So...as soon as I get off here, I better be thinking of getting out the tractor and do another lawn mowing....It's only been 3 days since last cut, but it's certainly growing fast now....and it's thick and pretty and green.

Have seen Humming birds now since the 1st. of May.  But just occasionally at our feeder.  I expect more soon.

Everything is really pretty and green now.  From our patio door I look out over the fairway beyond our back yard and it's so pretty and refreshing this morning.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  We're waking up with a temp of 63 degrees this morning, and some light rain.   Supposed to get up to about 75 for a high today.  May see some storms or heavy rain within the next couple of hours; then again heavy rain and thunderstorms around 5 p.m.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.  And on the counter this morning:  chocolate covered doughnuts, chocolate covered, cream filled doughnuts, chocolate covered vanilla filled long johns, blueberry and strawberry muffins, and apple, peach, raspberry and cherry danishes, bagels and bear claws.

Mookie, your coffee mug is waiting for you, and we'll fill the mug with coffee, as soon as we see you starting to come through the door!!

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, and have a very good morning!  Take care.

Good evening, everyone.  Boy, has this been a busy afternoon around here in our household.  Walt and Sarah got our outdoor faucet running; I went to the grocery, and fixed a big supper for us here at home.  The three of us should sleep pretty well tonight!

Justin, glad your mom is doing better.

Joe, I know you're looking forward to your weekend starting when you get off work in the morning.  Enjoy the BLTs tonight.

Our temp got up to the mid 70s today, and it's currently 73 out.

You all have a very good evening, and take care.

Thanks CW! I will be telapathicly helping you tommrow!

I thought I'd post these here too since not everyone reads the Lounge.  Misty and I went and had a 3d ultrasound on Tuesday so we could see in better detail whether our little guy was definately a little guy or a little girl: he's definately a little guy!  Boy is getting big and is starting to look like his papa.  July 8th sure is closing in fast.

Congrats Dan!!! I too hope that he is a happy healthful child! Also may I add that that ultra sound is brought to you by the same fine folks who produce the most locomotives in this great country.. GE! A GE ultrasound commertial is going on as I type this post. Well, I have a bit of medical news to tell you all about too. But not near as exciting. It's about mom. she has this weired codition I can't pronounce. Anyway, she will have to get a historectomie. The worse news is that she will have to get it done soon if she wants it done by the same doctor. He is leaving town in a couple months. But, after this she won't be in anymore pain. Then she can enjoy here vacation on Amtrak and the rockies! well, it was gloomy when we took mom in thismorning, but it turned out to be a really nice day after all. Not sure what thie temp. is, but I think it is near the uper 60's. Well, back to the salt mines again tommorow. CW, Supper was good! Also CW, today in cooking class my group was assinged to make peach crisp. I, of course was with my mother, so I couldn't be there. My best bud just called me to tell me that Mrs. Kraft said that it was too late for them to eat it today, so thay will eat it tommorow! Cool hugh? Well everybody, not muhch else to talk about. Looks like ther couyld be a storm blow up here sometime soon. See you all later! sinceraly, Justin S.

Dan - many years ago there was a cute commercial.  Little boy visiting a new baby that was asleep in a crib with new mom looking on.  The boy studied the baby for a moment and then told the new mom in all seriousness "Too bad you had to get a bald-headed one!"

I loved that commercial!

French toast is on our menu.  I usually wait for someone to ask for it, as most of the time, I don't have good success with fixing french toast.

I tried four times to post here this morning.  Each try, I was typing, had not gotten down to the post tab, and I would get knocked off the forum.  Not sure if it was a problem here, or just on our end.

Joe and Ray, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning.  And Ray, since you had such a fine breakfast for everyone this morning, here is today's lunch menu:

1.  BLTs w/your choice of fries or tater chips, salad

2.  Open-face roast beef sandwiches or turkey sandwiches w/mashed taters, gravy, and salad

3.  Hamburgers, or cheeseburgers with fries or onion rings

4.  Grilled cheese or tuna salad sandwiches w/fries or onion rings

Everyone have a good afternoon and take care.
