Joe: what they don't say is how the city lost control of the north end access to the terminal. There are some ex-CR/NYC and CSX/B&O folks from the late 1970's with canary feathers in their cat's claws somewhere out there smilin'....Sigh

Been so wrapped up with my events I forgot to wish CW a happy birthday  Happy B-Day, and offer RJ my congratulations on his "life altering event" and best wishes on is application to the fire department.  You're more than welcome on the forum fire brigade, too.  We've got a pretty good crew here.

And don't worry - Owen will get just as spoiled by Gramps as Evie already does.

Afternoon, and it's good to hear all the good news. Larry, that's a fine grandchild there. First chance, remember to spoil him. Congratulations. RJ, to you on your engagement. All the best.

Here, I have joined the ranks of American Billionaires, like Bill Gates. Yesterdays mail had a letter from a friend in Zimbabwe, and he sent me two banknotes worth 500 million dollars each. If I exchange them, I will have enough to buy a loaf of bread. That's what runaway inflation does to an economy....

We have been under a severe thunderstorm warning since yesterday, and it continues until at least 10 PM.

Paula, another round of congrats on your 57th, and best wishes for many more.

Everybody take care

Tom

Morning All! Partly Cloudy here today and about 45 Degrees. Expecting rain, hopefully not as bad of a storm as I camped out in saturday night! Heading into Finals week now, History of the US west Wednesday, Precalc Algebra Friday, and Gen Chem II Tuesday. Hopefully this will all go well....

I applied for the City of Rock Springs Fire Department, they are hiring 2 and have over 200 applicants. Wish me luck!

Oh, and I asked a certain girl in my life a certain question, and she said yes! I cant believe it, things are better than ever.

Happy Birthday Paula!

Congrats on the grandson Larry!

RJ; Congrats on the "Life Question"; hope all goes very well for you.

Best of Luck on the F.D. application, hopes that goes well also.

Your description of only 2 positions, and 200 applicants kind of reminds me

of the time I applied for the job of Fire Chief at Ft. Knox. (civil service)

It was open to hundreds of applicants, then closed; they hired someone

from within their own ranks.

(Kind of "Ticks Off "a person when that person has more than enough

qualifications for the job.)

Larry, Congrats on the Grandchild! I'm very glad everything seemingly

is going well.

Congrats to Tree - what a nice way to celebrate spring

Mom, Dad, and Owen all have their birthdays in May now...

Speaking of Owen:

Maybe an hour old (or less).  Mom was probably still woozy from her anesthetic, so I'm not sure even she had seen him at this point.

Visitors will be pretty much restricted tonight, so Gramps will get his first view of the tyke on Wenesday.

Hey Larry!  Now I have someone else (besides my twin brother) to celebrate my birthday with!!  Congrats, Grampa, on your new little grandson!  Best wishes to all in your family on this joyous day for all of you!

Ray, thank you for baking my birthday cake.  I think everyone here knows that chocolate is my favorite cake!!

Since it's my birthday, I decided to fix for everyone, my idea of a nice birthday meal for you all.  Here is today's menu:

Fried chicken w/mashed taters, shellie beans, cole slaw (or garden salad for those who don't want cole slaw), homemade buttermilk biscuits w/milk gravy.  And we'll have a slice or two of Ray's cake he baked for my birthday.

Tomorrow, if everyone would like, I'll prepare the Mexican Fiesta.

It was cloudy and overcast all morning, but the sun is now shining here.  Not sure, though, what the current temp is.  Everyone have a good afternoon!!

RJ, congrats on your engagement, good luck on the Fire department opening, and thank you for the birthday wishes.

Congratulations to Larry in the birth of his grandson!

CW's birthday cake is now ready to serve, I just finished frosting it with chocolate frosting and finely crushed peppermint candy. There should be plenty of cake to go around.

I made note that we were low on birthday candles for birthday cakes, so I took care of that. We've got plenty on hand now for any upcoming birthday celebrations.

Happy birthday, Paula! May the day come back to you many more times, with joy each time. I was grown before I figured out what my grandfather meant when he told me, "Many happy returns." I thought it was simply the nineteenth century way of saying "Happy birthday."

Owen finally made his entrance about 10:20.   They tried to induce labor, but that didn't do the trick, so they went ahead with the C-section.

7 pounds, 9 ounces, might be a redhead (Heaven help us!).  He hadn't been measured yet when dad called me.  According to proud papa, Owen was quietly contemplating he knees when I got the call.

More a matter of when the people doing the service can fit it in.  Taking care of it now means I'm not competing with all the people who suddenly remember they need it done in October....

That's what I do with my snowblower (July) and lawn mower (January).  They tend to appreciate having some time to work on it.

Haven't heard from son-in-law yet, although the baby should have made his entrance by now.  I imagine he's a little overwhelmed between the youngster and his wife's C-section.

Just about two more months to go...and then that's me!  Exciting and scary both.

Happy Birthday Paula.  Here's to many happy & healthy returns.

You expect cold weather up your way this summer, so you had the furnace inspected at last?Smile

I've had the furnace kick in more than once on a 40 degree night in July or August.  It was actually overdue from last year.

Paula, I hope your 57th birthday will be a good one for you, and I hope you will do something fun to celebrate it! Happy Birthday!!

Right now we have 50 degrees here in Sioux Falls and it is shaping up to be a fairly nice day here. We had gotten 65 hundreths of an inch of rain last night, most of it around midnight.

I hope the rest of you out there are all having a good day!

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  And Walt, Quentin and others (so far) for the Happy Birthday wishes!!  Yes, I'm 57 years old today.  And guess what:  it does not bother me a bit.  There are a few strands of white hair mixed in with my black hair, and I figure I've earned them!

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and water for hot tea are ready.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls, turkey bacon, sausage (links & patties), hash browns, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, cantaloupe and watermelon chunks.

Everyone have a very good morning, and I'll see everyone after I get through with Tuesday Produce.  Take care, you all!!

About the middle of this month, I expect I will have to get our swamp cooler going. I've told Ricki that we need to go to a hardware store and look at paint (she chooses the colors) so I can paint the house soon.

Justin - Sounds like a nice trip!

Got a call from my daughter tonight.  She's past her due date, and several factors have the doc wanting to get the little duffer out, so she's going in for an elective C-section Tuesday morning.  Not an easy decision, but one that had to be made.

Of course, that means that if everything lines up, I'll be headed down to see my new grandson Tuesday evening.

Furnace passed muster.

That meat loaf does sound good...

Justin, your trip sounds FANTASTIC!! I think CW had a very good idea

about you writing a paper for school next year on: "What I did During My Summer Vacation".

Larry, hope ALL goes well for Daughter and future grandchild.

We'll be expecting updates as to how things are going!!

All, in a bit I need some help hanging banners, etc.

for a birthday tomorrow; so if you could stick around and help me with

a couple of the step ladders and the banners; I'd really appreciate it.

Seems CW (Paula) will be celebrating her Birthday tomorrow. (57th)

Ray, need a chocolate cake for tomorrow; Mook, keep yours "Paws" off!!

SO:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULA!!!

Happy B-Day even if it is a day early.
