Finally............"Oops, something went wrong"...That's all I could get last evening trying to get into any posts.  Sure wish that problem could be put down once and for all.

Same here Quentin.

I think today will be interesting.  Sunshine and no wind!  YAY!  Sad part is I Have to go to work in about half an hour...at least I still have work!

Ray, I hope your search bears fruit for you.  I know how frustrating that can be.  The McD's is hiring down the road but the commute may be a tough one!  Smile,Wink, & Grin

3 months to go until "Sprout" arrives.  Misty is getting bigger and the baby is sure kicking!  Last night she thought he was doing flip turns back and forth.  If that's the case, he's definately taking after me: learning to swim already!

Take care.

Lots of sunshine here this morning....no snow as they were hinting about these past few days...just a flake or two occasionally.  So now we should be into the warmup.  Lets hope so, it's well into Spring now.

Still snowing.

Soup and sandwiches sounds good for lunch!

On the way home from work last night I encountered an interesting set of tracks in the road - veering off to the left shoulder and then back to the right.  At the end of the tracks I found a car well off the road.  Stopped and called it in to the 9-1-1 center (so they wouldn't send the cavalry out after multiple cellphone calls about the "accident").  As I was talking with the dispatcher I noticed a couple of cars in odd positions near a nearby intersection, apparently from a collision.  Fortunately a sheriff's car was sitting at the intersection waiting for the light.

Nobody was hurt in either incident.  A fellow in a 4WD pickup showed up right after I did and offered to pull the first guy out.  I left.

After I got home I heard another accident being dispatched for the same intersection.

I should mention that it was snowing - wet, messy snow - and the roads were, well, bad.  Still, after I pulled out from the guy off the road, a big 4WD pickup came quite up quickly behind me.  Had he not had to slow for me, he'd have sailed right through the busy intersection...

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  It's not too bad here this morning, temperature-wise.  Currently 37, 38 degrees, and may go down a degree or two around sunrise.  Supposed to be a very nice day.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, grits, toast, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.  Am I missing anything from the breakfast menu this morning?

I am taking requests this morning for lunch and supper menus.  So, please let me know if there is something special you'd like to have today!

Even though I am not a University of Louisville fan, I was rooting for the Lady Cards last night.  I'm sorry they lost, but they have put up a valient fight, and they have done a very good job.  Congratulations, Lady Cards, for a job well done.

CP - Best of luck on your search.

As much as I'm looking forward to retirement, it's possible I might just look into some part-time work, if only for "pin money."  Eventually I'm going to run out of kits to build for the model railroad....

Late this morning while I was on my way to Burger King, Subway and the Z-Kota Grille, I took a detour and walked across the 10th Street bridge which spans the yard of BNSF here in Sioux Falls, and darn it, I did not have my camera with me. I watched a 100-car grain train move through the yard and it was northbound, where it was going I have no idea. But the lead locomotive was a GE C-44 9W, #5139. The other two engines behind it were something similar although I did not get their numbers written down as I was lacking a pen and some paper, but the 4th loco was a foreign unit from.....Mexico?

Within the last 2 hours I had submitted employment applications to Burger King, Subway and the Z-Kota Grille, all of them being on 10th Street within a few blocks of each other. This is my 3rd attempt to apply for work with the Z-Kota Grille at this one location, and the manager knows who I am because he has talked with me before. Anyway, he told me that when they have an opening they would be calling me. I am thinking that maybe this gentleman has figured out that I am serious about wanting to work for him. I relayed all of this information to a close friend of mine at Howes Oil Company, and she seems to think that given the turnover of employees at this one establishment, that they would be calling me for an interview fairly soon. And she told me that she and her husband eat there fairly often.

Well, folks, I'm sorry I'm getting back in so late.  But when I finished Produce this morning, I came home, ate breakfast, and went to sleep:  was that tired, for some reason.  We were brought:  sweet potatoes, Tropicana orange juice, apples, and tomatoes.  The number of people coming increased this morning:  59 people.  That's the most we've had for awhile.

On the warmer bar:  Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fajitas, chimichangas, enchiladas, chipotle tomato soup, gazpacho w/shrimp, and south of the border snapper.  There are also tortilla chips with your choice of salsa or chili con queso.

Mookie, Larry, Quentin, Tom, Joe, Ray, glad to see all of you in this morning.

Our temp was 36 degrees when I got up at 5 this morning, and I haven't heard what it got down to after daybreak.  But it was very breezy this morning, two doors up from the house, when I went over to Produce.  Needless to say, we had everyone go into the gym for Produce this morning.  Right now, the sun is shining, and I have no idea what our current temp is.

Everyone enjoy the meal, and have a good afternoon.

Tom, I too have had the experience of thinking about someone with whom I have not had any contact in years, only to see their obituary in the local news paper, and it is indeed rather strange. I had a teacher when I was in the 7th grade whom I thought the world of and her name was Peggy Clutts. She and her husband moved out to Oregon several years ago and I was able to track Peggy down through the alumni office of the University of Sioux Falls, her husband's alma matter. I wrote her a long letter and I received a nice letter from her in response, but in that letter she informed me that she was terminally ill with cancer. I think within two months after she had written me, I had seen her obituary in the local news paper. Very sad.

Here in our midwestern state right now.....we have something to be happy about too.....Sunshine....!  Saw a few...maybe 2 or 3 snow flakes earlier this morning and a starting temp of 32 degrees....Warmer now by a few degrees and....that sunshine...Guess we'll call it partly sunny.  But believe we're working out of this unwelcome cold, and unspring like weather these past few days.  one more cold morning {tomorrow}, and the warmup starts again.

Wed is now my next yard mowing schedule....

Hope this unspring like weather doesn't start setting up a pattern and before we know it, Summer will be here and where did Spring go......?

Good morning from the "Happiest State in the Nation".  (mainstreet.com)

If you go there, you will find your own state.  Most of them are the True Midwest except Hawaii.  Interesting concept.  Now don't y'all trip over yourselves moving here.  Wink

Sunny, not too warm yet, but the wind quit shaking the trees and the power lines and sounding like.....a freight train!

The trip to the accountant is off! I am relieved in a way, but still will have to do it again in a few days. Ain't it strange how things work? My uncle's widow had sort of disappeared from sight over the past few years. Several days ago, I got to thinking about her and wondered how she was getting along, I almost tried to contact her. Todays paper says she passed away yesterday. I hadn't thought about her in years until a day or two prior to her passing.  Strange

Ray, all the best on the job hunting. Unemployment regulations can be weird and frusrating. I know from experience that it isn't all it's made out to be.

Take care

Tom

Good morning. 19 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It is supposed to warm up here to about 47 this afternoon. Most of the snow we had gotten this past Saturday will be gone by Easter Sunday.

Last week I had mentioned that the manager at Wendy's had chosen to lay me off, I did find out that she has got me scheduled to work this Thursday for roughly 2.5 hours and that is it. So later this morning I will be submitting employment applications to the nearest Burger King, Subway and the Z-Kota Grille, all of which are within a 20 minute walk from my front door. I would think if I am persistant enough, something would eventually open up for me somewhere. Meanwhile, it is my understanding that I can not file for unemployment compensation unless Wendy's lets me go entirely, and all I can do otherwise is try to maintain a positive attitude through all this.

Morning everybody, I'm here! 40 degrees and sunny in Carolina this lovely day. Today is the day we drive over to the tacks man (They seem to be changing carpet tacks this time) and pick up the returns from the accountant. He is 100 miles one way, so we are doubly hit with tax and gas today. Everyone take care and stay warm

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Checked the calendar this morning.   It is, indeed April 7th, but the "April Showers" have taken frozen form.

That's all right.  I'm warm and cozy (although my bed would be warmer and cozier).

A full breakfast sounds good this morning....

Good Tuesday morning, everyone (if anyone comes in this morning, that is).  Not too bad, temperature wise this morning:  36 degrees, and may see some snow flurries this morning.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, bear claws, bagels, sausage links & patties, hash browns, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, oatmeal, toast.

Will be back after I'm through with Tuesday Produce.

Tom, guess what came your way is what we had roll by here last night.  All we got was lightning, thunder, and some rain.

There's two more Crock Pots on low setting, so help yourselves.  One of them has the roast, taters & carrots, and the other's got mild chili.

Joe, I fixed two containers for you, for work tonight:   l container with each of the two Crock Pot selections.  You can take both with you tonight, or take one and get the other one tomorrow.  And Joe, how did you like the Reds game this afternoon?  When I got home this afternoon, they were in the 5th inning, so I got to watch most of the game.  Even though they lost today, maybe they'll do better as the season progresses.  (I'm remembering the old saying, that when the Reds lose the opening day game, they usually have a really good season.  Sure hope that will apply  this year.)

Sure has been slow in here today.  Hope things pick up tonight.    Everyone have a good evening and take care.

Here I am finally. We spent the morning here in Carolina under a tornado watch and a severe thunderstorm warning. Everything passed peacefully and now the sun is shining. No moisture of any kind after all that. Currently 77 degrees outside. The girls decided it was nicer outside and don't want to come in..... Evereybody take care and stay safe

Good Monday morning, everyone.  I see they finally got maintenace done, and unlocked the doors.

I just got back in from taking the dog outside.  It's spitting something, not sure if it's rain or bits of snow.  Too light to be able to tell.

Ray, thank you for putting the coffee on, and making breakfast this morning.

I've got the Crock Pots going with our meals for the rest of the day.  One Crock Pot has roast, taters and carrots; and the other one has very mild chili in it.  Figured it was that kind of day.

We have about maybe a quarter inch of rain in the rain guage (may be less, I didn't actually stop to totally check the total.  Supposed to have off and on snow flurries/showers, not supposed to be any accumulation, since the ground is too warm.  But in the morning, the temps are to be in the upper 20s to very low 30s.  The temps today will be slowly dropping, and by this evening, we'll be down in the mid to upper 30s.

Have a good afternoon, everyone, and see in after awhile.

36.5 now in Muncieland......It's been raining since yesterday afternoon with it slowing or off and on overnight...and now, it is light rain and at times if you look close, you see tiny snow flakes, but it won't gain any foothold.

Don't have my rain gauge out yet, but by last evening the Indy stations were reporting over 2.5" of rain had fallen in our area starting Sunday afternoon.

So.....I believe we'll get thru this stuff with just the nastyness of overcast skies, rain and cooler than it should be by 25 or so degrees for a day or two and then it's onward towards nicer Spring weather.  Blossoms are popping out all around us and I hope this doesn't ruin their beauty display.

Edit later:

Having returned from making our rounds in Muncie area the last few hours, we confirm, we've had a generous amount of rain by the amount of water passing thru in White River.  Up into parts of the flood plane at various spots.

Mookie

Looks like the eastern half is a mess this morning.  Sorry about that!

Rain and snow forecast here in the north woods of NY today.  Hopefully it's better than Saturday, when all too many drivers found themselves off the road (and sometimes upside down).

Good morning folks! The coffee is about done brewing and I've just pulled a pan of cinnamon rolls out of the oven. There is also a generous assortment of donuts, rolls and bear claws, and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange Juice.

The temp here in my area is supposed to get up into the mid-40's after today, so by the end of this week most of the snow we had gotten on Saturday should be gone. I am looking forward to getting some yard work done here maybe next week.

Hey Justin! I saw your pictures, very nice! What kind of a camera are you shooting with? Not bad, considering they were produced by a kid your age.

Good morning!

Justin - nice pix.  I always enjoy seeing the NS and CSX back here.  Saw 2 NS engines go through this weekend.  As well as an old and newer KCS.  (Sorry Willy - it was Sat am)  Willy is right about Dad - his parents have made many trips trackside so he could see trains while he was growing up.  They have been very supportive when I am sure they would have rather been doing something else.  Makes for good families.

Willy - I had trouble even looking at the Driver - he was so smug about his weather predicition!  I was secretly glad he was right.  But that wind was not a good trade off.  At least the wind wasn't "slick".

Looks like the eastern half is a mess this morning.  Sorry about that!  Heard from Sir C who said that Denver didn't get what they were promised, either.

So sit tight.  It will all be gone shortly.

I've shown pretty mutch the rest of the internet these todayso here thay are. Comments and criticas always welcome.

My favorite. A -8 leads a -9 across the warm Indiana countryside. This is that train me and mom had to do 90mph to get ahed of.

A CSX -8 roars out of the CSX yard in Lafayette.

A favorite of mine, NS -8 8346 leads a ES40DC on the point of an auto rack at Lafayette.
A BNSF C44-9W re-paing PBTH miles on NS.
This is that crummy photo I took today. No too bad. Wish I had the good camra though.
By far the worst photo I've taken of a train. Mrs.Mook or CW might like the flower though. FLOWER POWER!
And finaly the pride of my line, our newest locmotive on the JSRRC roster, our Amtrak P40!!!!!Big Smile
Hope you enjoyed them! Any suggestions?
