And we have a winner. Johnny got it correct. Edward Bear is the correct given name of Winnie. It was also the name of a '70s Canadian rock group, which is how I came upon it. They had a top 10 song in 1973 called "The Last Song". Johnny, you win something or other, but you gotta come here and get it.... Ain't trivia fun? Well, our snow has started. The sky was completely overcast when I was out this morning but was almost clear an hour and a half ago. The folks on the Front Range may get some good snow tomorrow.

Hi everybody! Can I come in? It is engineer Justin here(te he!) It's about 50* here in my neck of the woods here in Indiana. Whats for dinner? I can't stay though the caller just called me to say that the Trainz 2006 railroad / BN has a shuttle grain train for me to haul from the elevator at Pardue to Cut Bank. Have a nice evening! Severe storms tommorwow evening, could be interesting. hav great-grandmother Mookie? Hows the new little one? Is everything ok?

eolafanour sump pump has been running every fifty seconds ever since trying to keep our basement dry
Jim, may that pump keep running when necessary so you do not need a pair of oars to keep your house in place. Did it ever wake you up because it was not running? In college, My room was on the second floor, at the back of the dormitory. One cold night, I woke up, lay awake for awhile--and realized that I had not heard the condensate pump in the heating system running. It ran at irregular times, whenever enough condensate had collected for the pump to put the water back into the boiler. I got, up, dressed enough to keep warm, went down, out, and around back to the boiler room--and confirmed my suspicion. I cracked the inlet valve to the boiler so that the water level would not drop to the point that the stoker would be shut off (no automatic inlet valve on this furnace)and went back to bed. Right after breakfast, I spoke to the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, and he saw to it that the pump would start up properly.
evening
well the csx dispatcher was telling trains to run at restricted speed near sherwood due to power lines being down.looking at the pictures in the paper it looked like a tornado came through to me.starting tonight and into tommorow we are to get another 1-2 inches of rain we do not need.Cw thanks for supper.time to get ready for work.

Monday draws to a close. Uneventful here.
Joe/Jim - we have rain/ice warnings that snug right up to our county line. It will be all west and north of us. Maybe we need to change our deodorant - can't seem to catch a break and get some rain. Don't want the ice, just a good soaking rain will do.
Justin - no news is good news. So assume no name boy is doing just fine. Maybe I will hear something this weekend.
Have had a slight headache all day. Think I am coming down with something. Think it is called "old age"....
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
Looks like we all cleaned up the meat loaf leftovers, so here's tonight's menu:
Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, potato wedges (nice large ones, from Idaho pototatoes), and your choice of cole slaw or garden salad.
Desserts tonight: chocolate pie, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, white cake w/coconut icing, apple cobbler and peach cobbler w/ice cream.
Joe, wasn't sure which you'd want for your lunch tonight, so I put you a couple of hamburgers and a couple of cheeseburgers in your container. But I'll let you decide on your dessert.
Mookie, hope your headache has subsided.
The local meterologists are now saying we probably won't see much rain or storms until sometime late tomorrow night, into Wednesday morning. Hope that prediction holds: not looking forward to going out in the morning for Tuesday Produce in rain. Normally, I wouldn't mind, but with just beginning to really get over the flu, I don't want to get too wet in the morning!
Johnny, there is a place just south of me called Effingham. Your prize is a week in Effingham. Food and lodging not included. I will meet you at the Amtrak station and take you there. A week later, I will pick you up and take you back to the Amtrak station. All this courtesy of Pettibone Enterprises Ltd. How's that for a great prize?
Deggesty We do live with the prospect of a major earthquake any time. We are several miles from any known fault (the Wasatch Fault), but soil can be liquefied even some distance away from a fault. It is presumed that there is not much danger of that right where we live, but an area north of us is in danger--the nature of the soil determines the degree of danger.

Johnny, I was just wondering if you have seen the video put out by the Utah Geological Survey. It is quite informative about the dangers of living along the Wasatch Front. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DByPiCkznE0

I wonder if Quentin would be interested; I did offer to share the prize with him.
By the way, it is still snowing here, and it is beginning to stick, in places, to concrete. Our morning temperature is expected to be in the mid-twenties. School children may slip and slide in the morning.
Deggesty I wonder if Quentin would be interested; I did offer to share the prize with him.
Gee thanks Johnny....That's difficult to turn down, but I'm still trying to get well. Sorry to miss out, as it sounded like the chance of a life time...almost. Maybe you could just take Tom with you.

Thanks, RJ. It was interesting, especially as it showed the location of the fault lines a little more accurately than anything I had seen. I sent the site on to Ricki so she could look at it. We are thankful that we do not live on the east side of the valley--where the more expensive homes, many of which are masonry, are. Our house is part masonry and part frame (a little more than half); I have no idea what the exact result would be if we had a good strong shake out here--may it never come.
Good Tuesday morning, everyone. We have a comfortable 57 degrees this morning, with rain coming in later. Think we have had a little bit of moisture overnight: street looks like it's on the moist side.
Guess I'll try to go back to Tuesday Produce this morning. So far, no one's out front, but that could change any time.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready. On the warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, oatmeal, grits and toast.
You all have a good morning, enjoy your breakfast, and I'll see everyone later.
morning
the rain has started here.haven't heard any word on the toledo branch or the toledo sub.ottawa ohio schools are closed for today. looked at my atcs monitor and 2 southbounds are lines up at deshler.Cw thanks for breakfast.time for a nap.
Good morning and thanks for breakfast. 54 degrees and sunny this morning in Carolina, headed for the 80s so they sez.
Johnny, your information on Effingham is correct. Basically. a post office, store with hot dog stand and the county jail. Anyway, the offer is good by law for 14 years, so if you change your mind, let me know.
The three scotties are coming back inside, solid white. The weatherliar screwed-up again, but we will take this moisture gratefully." Maybe flurries" has changed to two inches and still coming down.
East of the front range won't burn today. Hopefully GGM Mooks gets some of this.
(Punkin' Center and Last Chance here have something to look up to in Effingham)
****Thank you BERGIE for opening the can of vermin eradicator and cleaning up the forum!****
I'll snag my bearclaw and tea in a moment.
Johnny - I live in the area of the St Lawrence fault line, and have experienced a minor quake or two here. We don't get the big shakes common on the left coast, but they will occasionally get your attention. Damage, if any, usually consists of things falling off things, not structural stuff. Sometimes we only know we had a quake because it showed up on the seismograph at a college near here.
After yesterday's snow and freezing rain, it's just cold here right now, but I see that next storm creeping up on us. No flooding so far, but they remind us that it's possible.

Upper 50's now and to go somewhat higher in temp. today. That also brings along the threat of some severe weather later today. Right now it appears to me to be running on a line slightly above us {north}, but we're in the risk area too....It then is headed to perhaps including Larry's area and on to New England.
We only had 36 people show up for Produce today. All we got were: lettuce, yellow peppers and 10# bags of potatoes. That was it.
Guess we'll kind of get back on schedule here in the Cafe today, and make this Tuesday Mexican Fiesta Day. So, here's what you'll find on the warmer bar:
1. Baja burritos; 2. Smoked cheddar bacon burgers; 3. Chimichangas; 4. Beef burrito deluxe enchilada style; 5. Beef & bean burritos; 6. Sour cream chicken enchiladas; 7. Spanish rice; 8. Fajitas; 9. Tacos (both soft shell and hard shell, and I've shredded some lettuce and cut up tomatoes to go with the lettuce.
Hope you all enjoy the menu today.
MC, glad you're getting some moisture, even if it is coming down as snow. Think I'll be happy with the rain we're to be getting later tonight, and through tomorrow. Even if it will come with much cooler temps for us.
I'll take a #2 (AKA heart attack on a bun) and a couple of #7's, soft.
No weather here, yet. It's on its way, though.

Larry, I remember one earthquake. When I was quite young, we lived in a house that was right on US 521, and the highway made a right-angle turn in front of our place (For many years, we had a high privet hedge going down the side of the alley that ran right by the house; one of my brothers pruned the hedge way back--and that evening a Greyhound bus came up the alley because the driver had used the hedge as the marker for making the turn, instead of reading the highway signs and noticing the flashing light (what was he thinking?). There were other exciting times, such when a loaded gasoline tank rig turned turtle.) One night, I woke, and heard the widows rattle and thought, at first, it was simply a large (for that time) truck going around the corner. When the rattling kept on, I realized that it was an earthquake which did not do any noticeable damage.
Paula, the grits and sausage were good, and that cheddar baconburger is good. Thanks.
In the twenties this morning, with no noticeable wind. There was some snow on the sidewalks, but little ice except where someone had cleared teh snow off and had not put icemelt out. The sun's out now.
Weather trivia for our location: Snow fall totals to date for this season are...25.5". That's just about our average for a full season, so it would be nice if we really don't see any more.
Certainly not today as it is quite warm....but blustry stuff scheduled for later today up thru Indiana and we're {right here}, within it's brackets of travel.....

I'll have a beef and bean burito today. (Pfhhht) we have a BSA meeting tonight. Were going to talk about our summer camp, Camp Friedlander. Very fun! Not made mutch progress on the Amtrak trip. I'm going to WV.gov to get a travel guide. las 70* day here in western Indiana for a long while. Gray and rainy. Blahhh.

Anyway, the offer is good by law for 14 years, so if you change your mind, let me know. Thanks, Tom. Now I know why the AAA Atlas gazeteer does not give any population figure for Effingham, even though it does show the hamlet. Does the population vary according to hot dog stand and jail patronage? This makes me think of Goose Pimple Junction, which is just outside Bristol,Tenn. There is a sign at a junction, proclaiming its name and the population. I checked on it last spring, but did not note the then population. Perhaps I should go out there again this spring, and make a note. Larry, I remember one earthquake. Johnny, we've had the "Shakes" around here several times since I moved to the Lou. Area in 1973.
Mainly the "New Madrid Fault" on the Ky., In., Mo. border. The last one came about a year ago;
that was another from another fault line up in In.
(From Eastern Ky., high hills, mountains, etc.; the only "shakes" we got was from dynamiting!
We also have in Ky., several towns that have "You are Entering"; "And You Are Leaving" the Town________" on the same sign......little, or No population. The major reason being, if it was incorporated; you could serve/sell alcohol. (like that made the "Moonshiner's" any difference.)
(and we also have small towns that basically had only jails; see above.)
Have been waiting for "Snail Mail" to bring us something from a valued friend, thus far, no luck.
Barely got to 78 degrees today, beating a record set about 130 years ago; chance of strong storms overnight, and highs only into the mid 40s tomorrow.
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
Good Wednesday morning. We're down to 52 degrees this morning, with light rain. Temps are to continue dropping throughout the day. Looks like winter has decided to pay us another visit for a little bit. At least the crocus in the front yard won't be affected too much by this cold snap that is on it's way in. We're to be down in the 30s by mid to late afternoon.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready. On the warmer bar this morning: bagels, bear claws, cooked oatmeal, and cooked rice with toast, turkey bacon, sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.
Everyone have a good morning, keep warm and take care.
good morning
cold and very windy this morning.at least the rain has stopped.matt is on time and on the bus.he gets out an hour early today so people can drive to Ada(ohio northern) to watch girls basketball.Mutt your package should be trucking down I-75.I mailed it sunday.Time for a nap.Mookie here is your coffee mug.
The rain has stopped here, at least for now.
They're talking significant wind for us - hopefully it'll be done blowing by Thursday. I really don't feel like putting up with it on the road on my way to MD (for granddaughters third first birthday party!).
On to other things...
Paula, thanks for the sausage and biscuits,
Larry--safe traveling. As I would say to the OTR drivers after I had unloaded their 53 footers, "Watch out for the crazy people on the roads."
Bright and sunny here this morning.
