Good Sunday morning, everyone! This is CW. Did not notice that Mutt was signed in. Guess I'm not as awake as I thought. Very pleasant 64 degrees here this morning. For the past few nights, I've definitely had to get under the covers to warm up. Not too many times you can say that in August (unless you have super duper excellent air conditioning).
Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning: everything looks so good, I'm trying to decide between the bacon and the sausage, to have with my waffle and eggs.
Piouslion, you are correct: cobblers have sugar sprinkled over the pie dough that you turn over the fruit. And you put several pats of butter over the peach filling, before you fold over the leftover dough.
.....A 60 degree morning...and it's bright over behind the neighbor's trees which means we'll have some sunshine today. No rain predicted until just a possibility at the end of the week. We'll be getting dry around here if that is the way it occurs.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
....Am I remembering correctly of the Cape Hatteras unit....The fact it was moved back from the eroding shore line....That must have been something to see happen. Don't think I've seen any of those. Been down through the area {a bit inland}, many times but those we've not been too.
CW thanks for the pizza. a great day to be in deshler.mookie we found some lost bnsfs today.2 came down the nw wye with empty powder river coal cars.a cn and an oakway leaser did the same earlier too. we also had an empty and full u 994 train come by as well.we saw an SCL wood chip hopper and an empty rail train tied on the back of q 501.Matt is tired out so is Dad.
Joe
Thanks for the info Quentin:
My wife in particular is a fan of lighthouses so I think next time we are down seeing family We will have to check out the Ponce Light.
Being in NC as you might guess we have seen a couple of the outer banks units, Hatteras and Ocracoke being the better known ones.
Have a great Sunday
Roy
.....Roy:
I am familiar with the Citrus Tower near Clermont but have not ever stopped to go up in it...
Have not been to the St. Ausustine unit....but have been to St. Augustine many years ago.
The one I'm relating to is down about 10 miles south of Daytona...Right on the coast. On route A1A. It is the Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse. Location is called Ponce Inlet. It is built of brick and is the tallest Lighthouse in Florida. it is located amongst the Ponce Lighthouse Museum complex. One building has nothing but lighthouse special glass prism lenses....It is an interesting place to visit if one has that interest. The view is spectactular from up on top....The light works too. Call it up on search and see photos, etc....

That does have a sugar sprinkled on the top of the crust doesn't it? GREAT with Ice Cream on top.

Hi Quinton:
You mentioned a 175' structure with steps inside. It could be one of two places that I know of with that kind of view. One is the St. Augustine Lighthouse at St. Augustine FL. On a clear day you can literally see for 60 to 70 miles in any way you look from the top. The old equipment is still there along with the barracks and commandants house. A true rendition of 19th century construction and social reflection of the times (1880 - 1920 or so).
The other is inland in Central Florida at Clermont, known as Citrus Tower. The steps are not used much being that an elevator is used mostly. I knew it best back in the late 60's when I was finishing growing up in that area. It was a sight like no other with orange and grapefruit trees as far as the eye could see, along with a few very large lakes. It is not as good a view now according to my brother who was the Presbyterian Preacher there until about a year ago.
Your height statement does sound like the description of one of or either of those two places
P.S. I would say the Bach singing tower in Lake Wales but last I remember, one does not go up in that structure. - Roy
Sorry, mudchicken, haven't seen Chris around here lately. Don't recall seeing him anywhere else on the forum, either: but, I could have missed him.
Here's tonight's PIZZA MENU:
1. Goetta
2. Pepperoni/mushroom
3. Hawaiian
4. Supreme
5. Calzones
The first round of pizzas are fresh out of the oven, sliced and on the warmer bar.
And mudchicken, some peach ice cream, peach cobbler and peach pie would be mighty tasty, wouldn't it? If I were closer to you and boss hen, I'd help you with the peach pies and cobblers. Good to hear that you're getting some much needed rain!!
Peach ice cream (homemade, with fresh peaches - nothing can possibly compare)!
Given the proper equipment, taking a tower down isn't bad (a crane comes to mind, but a sturdy gin pole would do the trick). I watched as the contractors assembled the 180' tower for my radio system outside my building. I haven't climbed it yet, but I'm tempted (there's a ladder up the middle and I do have the appropriate harnesses). I've been up a 200' tower with stairs up the middle.
Of course, beyond a certain point, they don't bother disassembling them any more. Just cut the guys (explosively) and let 'er rip.
That 1500' tower for KOMA (?) in OKC is a sight to behold - I won't be climbing that one....

.....Tom, I'm sure some towers probably could cause complications. But I believe this one here is straight forward...We put it up many years ago. Two husbands and two wives....
I see this one as moving it up the few inches out of the mooring staffs that are in concrete after it is unbolted, and then steady with lines to slowly let it down. Of course It would be disassembled piece by piece....{4....8' sections}, after it's on the ground to move it elsewhere. Or...if someone so desired, climb it and remove it piece by piece.
I tried to assemble it like that {by myself}, many years ago and did get 3 sections standing vertical, but couldn't bring myself to fight that last section to the top....Guess the height got to me. Anyway, I was a lot younger then and wouldn't even try something like that now.
By the way Tom....as I write here...."disk cleanup" is under way.

A contentious woman is like a constant dripping! (Solomon)
2nd day of steady rain here (snow in the high country!) and a high in the fifties. Sure beats the recent 25-day run of temps in the 90's and no rain. Life is good and doing paperwork is bearable.
(An unusual 3am loud thunderstorm [rare for here]Thursday night made the master nest a little crowded with 3 scotties glued to the humans)
My first box of western slope (Gunnison Valley) peaches was waiting on me when I got into the office last night. Somehow peach pie, peach cobler, peach ice cream, etc. coming soon to the diner?
Anyone seen Copcar lately?
.....Tom, as you mention your "wireless" operation I'm reminded of my situation here trying to give away a Spaulding 32' tower...I'm surprised no offers via a friend of mine into Ham operation passing the word of it being available, etc....
Of course they must remove it....{simple enough}....6 bolts removes it from it's mooring and it's fee standing. I've had it for many years but it's still good and sturdy. At one time I had a rotor and a TV and FM antenna on it but it's been out of service now for quite a few years. {Cable}...
...60 degrees and sunny skies is our start. Believe we're to work into more humidity and warmth in a few days.
Good Saturday morning, everyone. Joe, thanks for getting breakfast this morning. Slept in a little bit. Nice and cool here, with a current temp of 65 degrees, looking to top out at 84 today.
Know you and Matt will have a great time today.
Tom and everyone, glad you enjoyed the ribs and everything last night.
Everyone have a great day, and see you all later.
breakfast is ready.we have lemonade and gatorade ready for today too.Matt and I are off to the city of corn.be back later for pizza fest.
.....Thanks Tom....We do run XP w/ sp-2, and we'll take a look.
My first real computer, (not Commodore 64) had 10 megabytes hard drive and a math chip. LOL
Thanks for the ribs CW.
Randy ; We are like you said. We got over the missing noise of the gen set. Now , like the old retired fire horse who ran down the fence line when fire wagon went by his pasture , we some times get a hankeri'n to git go. When we hear the Goodyear or Bridgestone Chorus or a Jake brake ~~~ oh well , life is good. Take care Lad and try not to transfer paint.

Russell, I will get some air and see what I can do. Fortunately, my resident computer whiz kid still calls me frequently and I will ask him if he can help me out. Just eliminating some of the temp files has helped immensely. I will defrag this Sunday and do my scan - all between midnite and 6 am. It will probably keep me up half the nite since this thing always sounds like it is going to either give birth or throw up when it does something internal. But - it is better than no puter at all.
