Hello to Diner friends , got home to Malfunction Jct. @ 12:30am sat. Nice trip was had on the SouthWest Chief & Cardinial .  It is nice to see the small towns progress with the old & new , but as been said on another post progress is not always nice.As I tried to get to the Diner, problems developed . Search & rescue told me I was not alone ( how comforting ) .   Pick through web directions later. Now time for supper . Respectfully, Cannonball

Mudchicken;  Yesterday at Lamy, we had the time to stop for a brief visit at the station. As luck would have it we saw a Chev. ~ Trailblaser? parked outside by a tree . Standing by the Cardinal , I saw a fellow with a briefcase walk into the office, then come out the west door with a coffee cup . I hollered hi Mudchicken twice , but all the noise I guess you or the other guy didn't respond . This happened at 2:30  pm.  We headed for ABQ. ,  Then at 2:50 the train hit 2 cattle.  Maybe you will hear of thecattle kill or not .BBQ anyone??  Trains 2~~ cattle 0   The train got to ABQ and engine got steam cleaned & inspected O.K. to run. ~~~~ Anyhow , hello to you .    If you want to write back , my address is

jskli@commspeed.net   Respectfully, Jim Kline  ( Cannonball or switch7frg)

Quentin, I had noticed it even before the format change, and had considered asking the same question

We've been away from the house now for a while, out with some friends for lunch and just now, I finished up my mowing and came in here and it's surprising to me how little activity has been on here in that time period....

Quentin, I had noticed it even before the format change, and had considered asking the same question a few weeks ago. The visitors list is definitely down and I was getting concerned.....

Good morning- got out to do some serious railfanning this morning, and the lucky patrons of the FWC are the first to see the results!

Here's the longest steam-powered revenue freight of the 21st century cranking it up as it left Iowa City this morning...

I'll post the rest of the shots in a separate thread.  They're not the sharpest shots around, but in my defense the light was still low and it was pretty foggy around here.

......Does anyone else note, what seems like less activity on the forum with each format change......??  Or is it just in a normal lull now...

Mornin. 54 degrees and rain in Carolina, actually a cold rain. Even the girls want to stay inside. Larry, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and a wish for many more. Quack visit yesterday went well, and I am on the mend. I've been going to a young doctor for a while, and just found that he is the son of a friend of mine. Small world. I also found out that another friend has end stage alzheimers. She introduced me to my wife and I've wanted to punch her out for years.... Anyway, she is a nice lady and it is such a shame to find her like this. Everybody take care.

.....And it's just 48 degrees here right now but bright skies.  Believe we're to get up to low 60's.  Hope so, as I didn't get my yard mowed yesterday and will do so today.

Hear trains already moving in on the Frankfort line.....more grain, I suppose.  Seems that activity really gets busy this time of the year, and has been for this last month.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Going to be a cool day, with some sun and clouds.  We currently have a temp of 51 here in Louisville, going for a high in the low 60s, probably around 63, 64 degrees.

Joe, thanks so much for getting breakfast this morning.  Coffee and rolls sound really good this morning.

Everyone have a great Saturday, and I'll see you all back in here tonight for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

Went out for a walk this morning.  Little on the breezy side, but sun is shining, so didn't feel too bad.  Currently, we have temps ranging from mid to upper 50s, going to 63 today.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under wayOn today's menu:

1.  Cod

2.  Perch

3.  Bass

4.  Salmon croquettes

5.  Shrimp

6.  Scallops

Side dishes:  baked beans, corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies, onion rings, cole slaw

Desserts:  chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, and the following pies:  apple,  cherry, peach, pecan

While I was out on my walk, was hoping I'd hear a train horn, and get to see a train.  No such luck, today.  Maybe over the weekend, I'll have better luck.

...Jen, that does sound good for the location of your banker's offices....No need to go out on the ledge with some of the news being shoveled at them daily.

....Our Friday morning is a nice bright one but only 55 degrees right now.  That's ok, as we can handle that fine.   Do want to pay attention to getting ready for Winter around the house here in annual preps, etc....

Might even get to yard mowing again today too.....I expect this afternoon we'll be in mid 60's and that's fine.

Quentin:  I am getting so I close my eyes when I see what the market is doing on TV.  Going to go talk to my banker next Monday and see what he suggests.  Fortunately they are on ground level!

Didn't get in until late last night (went to a dinner meeting after working on the railroad), so a belated thanks to everyone.

No problem with the candles - my son's fire department handled that for me.

Off to get the state inspection done on my truck.  Hopefully they don't find anything fatal.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  We are starting the day out with a temp around 50, 51 degrees.  The lowest temp locally I've seen is about 43 degrees in Seymour, IN; and we're to have a high of 63 or 64 today.

Coffee is ready, along with juices, hot chocolate, hot tea andhot cider.

Danishes and doughnuts are on the breakfast/warmer bar, along with some biscuit/sausage sandwiches.

Hope you all have a good morning, and I'll see you in a bit.

Happy Birthday, Tree!  In your honor, I got a hold of your weekend group and they are going to let you ride the train FREE!  You're welcome!  So glad I could do it for you on your birthday.  Kisses

Has everyone found the quick reply in the bottom right corner of the thread?  Didn't we have this on our first forum, before the last two changes?

This is a week for losing things - I lost a complete toolbar (twice) on my puter this afternoon, lost my glasses, several times and got lost on the forum.  Fortunately, I have time to find everything!
