(no sense discussing the temperature - it's cold).

From what I'm seeing on here for weather, I'd say we're not too bad.  41.2 right now and a very light mist. Of course overcast and not very bright, but this is the time of the year we see minimal sunshine and when we do it's low in the southern sky.

Only one month to Christmas Eve.....

If the "market" continues as it is now, I'd consider that a great Christmas present.  Just peeked at it for this late morning time and it's up 316 after a 494 boost on friday....Wow...But we all know it's fickle and we're not certain it has much stability yet.  But I have faith "we're" getting ready to "work on it".....{I really mean work on the economy}.

So off on a new week and that includes Thanksgiving....Hope all on here have their favorite gathering of family and foods.

Tree:  I love that cranberry relish.  I got it from a friend many years ago (when I was single and poorer) and decided I would impress my family with it.  So I made it with a hand held grater.  Do you know how long it takes to grate a bag of cranberries?  Won't even discuss the sore knuckles.  But it was eventually made and was a big hit at the family dinner.

Sunny - 40's for week.  Not complaining at all.

CW - not a big turkey/baked chicken/ham fan, but will eat all the accessories - except the dreaded asparagus.

Driver fixing cornish hens (I know - see above) for us, but he uses a special rub on them and they are very good.  They don't make "good" ham anymore - at least not around here.  Too much salt and water.

Light dusting of snow over night and "red sky at morning,"  but it doesn't look like a bad day to this point (no sense discussing the temperature - it's cold).

CW - it's not Thanksgiving dinner without my cranberry relish - one bag of cranberries, one navel orange, one apple (cored), and one cup of sugar.  Run everything (but the sugar - at that at the end) through a grinder or the food processor.  It's best if made a day early anyhow, so it'll fit right into the plans.  For greater amounts, just keep adding one of everything.

Some people add nuts to the mix as well.  I don't.

It's going to be a glorious day. I've started the coffee & squeezed some oranges. Thought I'd make Creamy Sausage Casserole this morning. One pan with sliced mushooms and another without. I've also made pan biscuits & sausage gravy.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Bob, thank you for getting the coffee and, and fixing the orange juice!  Your creamy sausage casserole looks very good, and I can hardly wait to get a little bit of it, and with the biscuits & sausage gravy!Dinner

And welcome back, Bob!  Good to see you back in here.

Special Note:  If any of you have a favorite side dish that you'd like to have Thursday, please let me know, as I'll start preparing the side dishes Wednesday.

We have a current temp of 43 this morning, going for a high of 47.  Plus, we're getting a nice rain.  There's already been a couple of accidents, non-injury this morning, and the heavy rain hasn't made it into our area yet.

Have a good morning, I'll see you all later, and take care!!

Guess since Joe thanked me for supper, I'd best be getting something posted!  Been racking my brain to think of something to fix, and finally came up with:

1.  Pork chops

2.  Meat loaf

Both meats will be served with:  mashed taters & gravy, peas & carrots, broccoli w/cheese sauce.

Desserts:

1.  Chocolate cake

2.  Peach cobbler w/ice cream

You all have a good afternoon/evening, and take care.

All of this calls for a great cup of coffee to wash it down with.

A personal opinion of course

Well now, thanks for supper. Both meatloaf and poke chops along with most everything else sounds super, but you can keep the broccoli. Chocolate cake and peach cobbler also rings the gong down here, Much obliged. Everybody take care

Cold, but not as cold as some are reporting.  20.8 to start the morning.  Sun is about to peek over the horizon and the sky is clear.  Light frost.

Hopefully it is to warm into the mid 40's today....If so, bingo....I'm making another pass over the yard for straggling leaves, etc....But church and lunch, maybe at Ruby Tuesday's will happen first.

Edit:  4:50 pm.....Mowing and mulching complete.  And that finishes it for this season....Tractor is in the little barn covered up with plastic. Finish.

Mowed 41 times this season...Way below avg.  Must have been the over 2 months of dryness, late in the summer and early fall that said it all.

Feels good in here....Temp outside @ start 40 and now 38.  Sunshine.

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Not too bad this morning:  mid 20s here in the downtown area, and out at the NWS reporting station at the airport, they're reporting 23 degrees.  Going for a high of 50 this afternoon.

Mookie, glad you all had a good time with your guests.  They are pretty good people, aren't they?  Mutt and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them a couple of years ago, when they were here.  Just wish it had been a longer visit.

Joe, thanks for getting breakfast this morning.  I surely do appreciate having great help around here.  And, if anyone doesn't want leftover pizza or the doughnuts & rolls, how about some bacon, sausage, eggs, and biscuits & gravy.  I've got those things ready, and have added them to the warmer bar.

Everyone have a good morning, and for those going to Sunday morning Services, be sure you bundle up, so that you stay warm.  Also, if anyone has any suggestions for Sunday Dinner, please let me know.

Single digits this AM - 2.6 as I post this. Of course, there wasn't a cloud in the sky last night when I took the dog for a walk.  Lot's of stars, though!

Just said our farewells to Sir Mud and Boss Hen.  We had a great evening and I got some pretty good stories about bathtubs in roadways and Track Fairies.  (I told you Sir C that this would find its way into the forum!)

Such a delightful couple.  Ate at a place close to the BNSF Yard - and while saying our goodbyes outside, I was busy yelling at the yard to watch the slack - they were running it in too fast and making horrible sounds.  Told them those knuckles were expensive.  No drawbars on my watch!

They totally ignored me!

Tree - it was 10 on Friday morning and managed to make it up to 50 this afternoon with warmer weather here by Monday.  I went through two different coats and finally gave up on one at all.  Sunny and felt so good - no breeze.  Will send you some.  But then after the holiday - we will start getting down to business for Xmas and talk of light snow, cold and well, the usual nonsense of winter.

I have never been up this late Smile,Wink, & Grin so off to find a warm spot on my 2/3rds of the bed.

I was in Utica today - preps for Polar Express - when the eastbound Lake Shore paid it's daily visit.  Judging by the encrusted snow and ice, they'd had some fun in the lake effect areas.

And it was COLD.  Fortunately most of what I had to do was inside, but we had a crew sorting out the cars for the Polar train and getting them in the right order.  They were cold.  Our GM agreed with me that "2456" (the locomotive they were using to sort the cars) is hard to say when your jaw is all but frozen...

Aside from a few flurries in the sun on the way down this morning, I didn't see much snow falling.  Plenty on the ground in the snowbelt, though, with more to come.

Tom, there's a little bit of liver & onions for you on the warmer bar.

And for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Cheese w/extra cheese

3.  Hawaiian

4.  Pepperoni & mushroom

5.  Supreme

And the following dessert pizzas:  apple, peach and cherry.

You all have a good evening, and remember to stay warm, and bundle up real good, if you're going out anywhere tonight.

Our local HO scale railroad club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is hosting an open house and swap meet today and tomorrow, and one of our club members will be picking me up within a few hours. I sure wish that it were possible for a few of you folks out there to join us for a few hours. I figure Mookie and Brian Hanel live closest to Sioux Falls than anyone else.

I'd love to get up that way sometime again- we've been "through" Sioux Falls a couple of times (if you consider I-90 as going through Sioux Falls) on the way to and from the Black Hills.  Unfortunately we have no family up that way, and it's a good five-hour drive from here.

Someday...Sigh

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Nice and cold here in Louisville this morning.  We have 19 degrees at the NWS at the Lou. Int. Airport, and 23 degrees in the downtown area.

At the moment we have 19.6 degrees and the sun is peeking across the horizon but clouds are coming in from the west.  So, I haven't payed attention to the forecast for today, not sure what it will do.  Snow is gone.

No wind.  Sis in law, from Western Pennsylvania mentions in her overnight letter they received 7 or 8" of snow yesterday.  I'm really not ready for that.  That area is 2000' elev. and that does make a difference, plus some lake effect coming down off Lake Erie.

Down here, we're just a bit out of reach from lake effect snow off of Lake Michigan. and we're over a 1000' lower in elev.

But cold, it is.  And I wanted to mow the yard and mulch any straggling leaves one more time....And I will if the temps. moderate  next week one day.

Ray:  Always enjoyed swap meets, but now getting so I could have my own to just get rid of a lot of stuff.  I get rid of it and the Driver brings more in.

Had a nice lunch in Sioux Falls several years ago.  Daughter lives in Bemidji, so went through there on our way to Fargo.  Think she is moving more south shortly, so probably won't get back up that way unless we just decide to go to Minn for whatever reason.

CW - would like to request a special pizza tonite - chicken, mush and tomato.  Just a little one, since I am not sure anyone else would eat it.  Will you put it in the freezer for me - we are dining out tonite.  We will have guests in the form of Denver Chickens for dinner.  no, no, that doesn't sound quite right.

Lord Mud and Lady Boss will be in our fair city and we plan to end up at a restaurant somewhere.  Must go unpack my manners.....Evil

Ray and Joe, thank you both for providing breakfast this morning!  I truly appreciate the help from both of you.  Don't know about anyone else, but I'm really hungry this morning, so I may take one of everything this morning.  Dinner

I wish everyone a good day, be careful in whatever you have to do today, and hopefully, I'll see you all back in here this evening for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.  And, everyone stay as warm as possible today.

It looks like this place has been pretty dead here for the last several hours. The coffee is about done brewing and I've mixed fresh batches of orange and pineapple juices. I've brought in a generous assortment of donuts, rolls and bear claws from my neighborhood Sunshine bakery.Chef Otherwise I'll let CW or someone else add to what we already have here.

We have a temp of 27 degrees here in Sioux Falls this morning and we've gotten just a light trace of snow in the early morning hours, total accumulation will probably amount to less than an inch.

Our local HO scale railroad club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is hosting an open house and swap meet today and tomorrow, and one of our club members will be picking me up within a few hours. Any more than that and the state closes down. Say snow and there is a run on the supermarkets and filling stations. Take care

Yea Tom, I know where you are coming from....Sweep the shelves of bread and milk.  Throw in batteries, and perhaps fill the family vehicle....

Again, a bit of trivia:  Our home location back east....Southwestern Pennsylvania produced much more in snow fall.  I remember back in 1958 we had a total of 188" of the stuff that season.  I had just purchased a '57 Corvette and managed to get around in that...!!  Single then, and that was my transportation.  Single until Dec. 13th that year....

Quentin, we haven't had 27" total for the whole past 25 years. Most of us here like a dusting, enough to cover the grass good. Any more than that and the state closes down. Say snow and there is a run on the supermarkets and filling stations. Take care
