CW, I wish it were that warm here in Sioux Falls. I've been up for a little better than an hour and the temp here is currently sitting at 14 degrees, to say nothing of what the wind chill factor might be. The temp here has dropped 2 degrees since I got out of bed.

I was supposed to have the day off today, but one of my co-workers got selected for jury duty, so I will be going in to cover for him, and while I'm pleased that I am able to pick up an extra 6 hours today, I'm not exactly thrilled with having to walk 1 mile in the cold. But it's only a 20 minute walk for me and hopefully the Wendy's manager will already be there so I will not have to stand out in the cold waiting for her.

Now before I leave, I think I'll pour myself a cup of hot chocolate and grab a bearclaw while I am in here. CW, thanks much for breakfast!

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Not too bad outside around the Louisville area this morning:  temp's hovering at 35 here in the city, and outlying areas are just a couple of degrees cooler, according to the weather report this morning.  We just had a little bit of rain overnight, haven't seen any snowflakes yet.  Temps tonight are to be in the teens, so maybe we won't see much snow yet.

Coffee has finished brewing, fresh juices are made and chilling in the fridge, water is hot for tea, and there's also hot chocolate and hot cider this morning. Mookie, have your coffee mug sitting on the counter for you, ready to pour your coffee.

On the warmer bar this morning:  oatmeal, toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, bagels and bear claws.

You all have a good, morning, keep yourselves safe, and take care.

Unfortunately, we don't have the blue sky - but a gray one that is sending down a little frozen water.  Being one that usually makes lemonade, however - I am sending it on to Iowa Brian in the form of frozen lemonade.  Approve

But it doesn't look yellow!Clown

I've been sitting here at work this morning watching with amusement some construction workers out front- they're using a backhoe and a couple of bobcats, doing their best to finish up grading around a newly-poured sidewalk, in spite of the fact that the ground is frozen and has a couple of inches of snow on top of it, and more is being added every hour.  It will be interesting to see how that sidewalk holds up next summer, considering the conditions it was poured in...

A bit late for work this morning - a woman slipped on the black ice in a driveway and took a trip to the hospital.

Gotta take the Dal to the vet this afternoon - he has a nodule on a hind leg and it's not going away by itself.

The tea and bearclaw were great....

Not as cold here as down south, by the sounds of it.  Ten AM and it's 31 here...

Good morning-

We got an inch of fresh snow here earlier this morning, and it's COLD here, with a temp of only 12 degrees. The wind is out of the SW and it makes it seem even colder than that, I heard over the radio that we have a wind chill factor of 2 or 3 degrees above 0. I am paying bills today and will leave home just long enough to walk 2 blocks to mail them, otherwise I'm not planning on going anywhere today.

I was supposed to have tomorrow off as well, but one of my co-workers got called up for jury duty, so I will be covering for him. This means I will have at least another 6 hours toward my next pay check. Smile,Wink, & Grin

I've got a couple pork chops thawing out on my kitchen counter and I plan to cook them in barbecue sauce in one of my crock pots along with a couple carrots and a couple small potatoes. Chef Anyone care to join me for dinner tonight?

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day. Stay warm!

Thankfully, we don't have any of that winter foolishness this morning....Just blue sky and sunshine.  34 plus degrees presently.  Not bad.

Tom....Our wish is for a better day today for you.

Watched the "Extreme Trains" last night....after the game.  And the "game" results were richly rewarding....We beat the L A Lakers  {our Pacers}, in the last fraction of a second playing time.....by one point...!!!!  117 to 116.  Wow.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Not too bad around Louisville this morning.  Here in the city, we have 35 degrees this morning at 7:08.  Looking for a high of 54 today, with a slight chance of  rain coming in sometime later this evening, and changing to snow between 5 and 8 a.m tomorrow.

Tom, I hope things are better for you this morning.  You've got all kinds of good friends here in the Cafe;  remember:  we're here for you.

Coffee, orange juice, orange-tangerine juice, apple juice, hot water for tea, and hot cider are all ready for you all this morning.

You all enjoy breakfast, and have a very good morning.Smile

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage patties & links, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/white gravy w/small pieces of sausage in it, bagels and bear claws, and fresh sliced pineapple.

Mr Tom: (I can call you that, because we are Gentlemen of a Southern Persuasion)

Presently 36 degrees F and clear in your part of Carolina with clear skys and a low of 30 tomorrow morning at about 6:00 AM. This comes with a high of 57 and lows tomorrow night of about 30.  The sky will be Carolina Blue with good temps that are sure a lot better than here in the Piedmont. Besides your team did have a winning season (as did mine).

There's a quote form the ballad of Sir Andrew Barton I think that Germanicus would remember as  well:

Tom, sounds like you've had a really bad day today.  Would a bowl of mild chili and a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches help you feel better?  Or would something else help soothe you?

And speaking of the chili, I've heated some more of all three kinds, and put back out on the warmer bar.  There are PB&J sandwiches on the counter, and I've got the grill heating for anyone who wants a grilled cheese sandwich (es).

After Produce this morning, I saw one of the ladies next door to our house, picking up small pine branches.  I asked her if she was gathering kindling, and she replied in the affirmative.  She also told me that she will be back, and get some of the pine needles, to take home.  Said she puts down a layer of pine needles, then a layer of sweet potatoes, and repeats, until she has used all the pine needles and sweet potatoes.  She said layering them between layers of pine needles keeps the sweet potatoes firm and they don't spoil.  That is something I have never heard.  I've heard of doing that with fresh vegetables and using straw, but never have heard of anyone using pine needles before.  As the old saying goes, "Live and learn something new everyday."
