Thanks for the clam chowder, CW, and the great desserts. I appreciate the info on Ray as well. Larry, take care in those icy conditions and let us know how you are faring. Everybody stay warm

Okay, Tom, Quentin, and everyone else: I emailed Ray, and he wrote back. Aparently, for some reason, he can't log into Trains. But he's doing o.k.
Jay, we may be able to do around here tomorrow: supposed to get into the low to mid 50s around here for the weekend, into Monday. (Is it any wonder everyone around here sneezing, and taking a kleenex, hanky, for their runny noses?!?! It's a wonder more people haven't come down with pneumonia!)
SactoGuy, Tom, Mookie, and everyone: I've got a big pot of New England clam chowder, just about ready to come off the stove, and go onto the warmer bar. So, you've all got that, along with our regular Friday Fish Fry menu:
Cod, flounder, halibut, haddock, perch, salmon, shrimp, clams, scallops, rolled oysters, and the usual sides: cole slaw, corn on the cob, fries, hush puppies, baked beans.
Peach cobbler, yellow cake w/caramel icing, and the following pies: apple, peach, blueberry, and pecan.
If there's anything else you all would like, just let me know, and I'll add it to the supper menu.
Thanks for the congrats on the new arrival. She is at home now and my wife was happy to have Mom and Dad back home to again take charge of her siblings.
Cold and more cold today, but the wind is due to turn from the south and maybe send up some of that Texas heat for tomorrow. Forecast of 34 degrees for tomorrow but with clouds and rain otherwise I would go out and work on my tan.
I am eyeing Sactoguys' raspberry pastry - if someone would distract him.....
Ray sent me a missive this morning - it was a pass along, but would indicate he is still out there.
Heard from daughter in Bemidji. If you were planning to go there this weekend, I would advise against it. Sounds a little, no, a lot wintery!
NE clam chowder would be great! And an extra bowl for my toes....(there goes that raspberry again.....)
Good morning. 51 and sunny in Carolina this morning. CW, thanks for breakfast, and I second the motion on the N E clam chowder. That would hit the spot. We did OK on last nights weather, and I haven't heard of any damage. That said, now I have to hook up the antennas and rotors again..... Please let me know what's going on with Ray. Thanks, and stay warm
Good morning everyone. (Grabs big mug of hot coffee and a few raspberry danish)
Can we have a big pot of New England clam chowder as part of the menu today?
Good Friday morning, to one and all! Cold around our area: 30 degrees here in the city, and in the low to mid 20s in the outlying areas. But, they say we may see some sunshine later on this afternoon.
Tom, haven't heard anything from Ray. Guess I'll have to try to find out how he's doing. Will let you know, if I can get in touch with him. And Tom, I was wondering how you all fared with your rain and tornado watches yesterday. Glad to know you are all all right.
Coffee, juice, hot chocolate, hot cider, hot water for tea are all ready. On the counter: our Friday Morning Doughnuts: regular cake and glaze doughnuts, chocolate covered doughnuts, chocolate covered cream and vanilla filled long johns, raspberry and cherry danish, doughnut holes, blueberry and strawberry muffins.
You all have a good morning, take care, and keep safe out there.
Quentin, we had two days of drizzle and rain, with the highs in the 70s. There was a thunderstorm this evening, and we were under a tornado watch from 2PM till 7PM. I don't think anything came from the warch, but it was moving north, and last time it happened, tornadoes hit NC. Take care
....Appears he {Ray}, hasn't been on for a while.
Tom, it looks like quite a bit of weather was moving across the southeast, and wonder how you folks made out with it......
Quentin
Anybody heard from Ray lately?
well we had a meeting with the top brass at work. They said we were busy.(thanks mr. obvious).more trucks to load tonight. Its friday!! Tommorow I am helping at matt's school with their santa shop.Cw thanks for the chili.
Joe
I want to say Congrats to Jay for his new addition to the family!!! God Bless!!!
CW I'll take a plate of the broccoli florets and can I have some Apple citer if it's avalible? If not I'll have some Sprite.
Well as CW said the weather here in Louisville is kind of crappy. It is about 35 degrees and it is very cold. I'm actually wanting it to snow. I love the snow. Who knows I might just go snowboarding this year.
Not really doing all that much sitting at the firehouse on standy by, just waiting around for a fire run. After that I'll more than likely end up going home.... then get ready to go to my Ju jitsu class.
We have gloomy, cloudy skies, with no kind of precip, no sunshine.
For lunch and supper, you have a couple of choices:
1. Leftover chili from last night and:
2. Beef & broccoli stir fry, w/fresh broccoli florets. And, if you'd like, I'll serve it with cooked rice.

-anyone seen copcar? His outfit has its Tonka Toys working on my street.
....A brisk mid 20's temp this morning, and light overcast skies. Right now the brighness is shining in my office east window and wouldn't take much to see the sun soon...That's a good thing. No snow...ground is bare.
But what a surprise to see on the news a while ago of Houston Ed's weather down there...That should stiffen up the alligators a bit. And seeing the weather radar and a massive weather system streaming from Texas northeast and covering all of the southeast was awesome. Looks like our area is north of it's progress and maybe we can stay clear of it.
Stay warm all....
Edit: Just a few min. later...Sun is peeking thru now...Love it.
No snow, no rain, no wind, no sun. Thursday must have been cancelled here.
Good morning CW, and thanks for breakfast. 62 and drizzle again, headed for 73 and lightning. Hopefully, that will not materialize, since it was called for yesterday and last night, but didn't show. Houston Ed, try and stay out of that mess. It makes me shiver just looking at such stuff. Everybody stay warm
Good Thursday morning, everyone. Not too bad here this morning. It seems the really bad stuff went east and south of us. Our current temp is in the low 30s to 35, depending on the area you live. Our predicted high today: 40. So the temp's not going to climb very much. Although, with the wind chill, it feels like it's in the low to mid 20s outside this morning.
I wonder, this morning, if Houston Ed has thawed out yet. I do not envy him; the longer we go without seeing that white stuff, the happier I'll be.
Coffee, juices, hot cider, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are all ready. Mookie, I've gotten your coffee mug down for you, and and it's right here on the counter.
On the warmer bar: bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, biscuits, gravy, bagels and bear claws.
You all have a good morning, keep warm and safe.
Congrats Granpa-Jay!
CW/Larry that is one of those easy/fun life stories they'll remember for a while!
It's a chilly 13 here...and more white stuff forecast for the night. Only 1"-3" though so it's not that bad.
Jay, congrats on the new addition to the family! Bet you can't wait to get back there, and start 'spoiling' the newest grandchild!!
Larry, that's a very good story you related. Puts me in the mood to watch "Polar Express" again!!
If anyone is interested, there's more chili and beans & cornbread out on the warmer bar.
Everyone have a good evening, stay dry, warm and safe.
Back to cold here - 16.5 as I write this.
"Polar Express" story - If you're familiar with the story, you'll appreciate this.
It seems a family rode one of our trains last year. After the train ride they ate dinner at a local restaurant before heading home. On the way home, Junior couldn't find his bell (each child gets a bell from Santa) and was heartbroken.
Rewind to the restaurant. Dad spotted the bell on the table before they left and stowed it in his pocket.
Fast forward to Christmas. Junior finds bell hanging on tree with note from Santa telling him to take better care of his bell.

Mooxie, it is 71 here and drizzle! The temp is most unusual, but I won't complain. If you wish, I will fix you and driver a pallet to sleep on if you bring the eats. I remember that one Christmas eve a few years ago, I had to cut the grass that day, so you never know about the weather here.
Jay, congrats on #6. Always glad to hear such good news.
Congrats Jay! Babies are always the nicest thing, especially around the holidays.
Heard from Houston - sounds like snow is in the area. Their temp and humidity mirrors ours - low and high. We are within 2 degrees of each other - but they have the wind and we don't. Is there no place to get toasty anymore (without the humidity)?
Cw thanks for supper.Congrats grandpa Jay.Our neighboors usually help us out when we are gone and vice versa.Time to get Matt off the bus and check out the homework.
Got back from my quick trip to Maryland yesterday. In spite of cold and some snow in the DC/Baltimore area-guess what-Amtrak and Metra ran on time. Then it was twice as long as usual for the trip from the Metra station home as there were flurries amounting to about 4 inches. Shortly after I got home a young man from town who did some snow removal for me last year showed up shovel in hand. Turned out he had cleared the drive from the snowfall while I was gone and I promptly put him to work on the new snow. I don't think his employment situation is good so I am always quite willing to put him to work when we can't get at it ourselves. With a ton of stuff on my platter and Matt still at school, he was a godsend. Paid him the usual fee for both days plus a little bonus.
It was unusually cold in the DC area and even an inch of snow which wasn't gone when I left Monday. If the weather there was trying to make me homesick for Wisconsin, it didn't work. My wife remains in Maryland looking after Mia and Ian, while mom Melissa stays in the hospital with new baby Ava. I guess she wasn't interested in meeting Grandpa Jay as she didn't arrive until after I left. Fine with me as it gives me good reason to take another train trip to DC Anyway she and mom are doing very well and will check out to go home tomorrow. Ava is grandchild number 6 for our group.
Everybody stay warm, dry and safe.
Joe and Larry, I read you loud and clear. Today's menu:
1. Chili (mild) is in the Large Crock Pot. Hot sauce, hot picante sauce, and green chili sauce bottles are on the counter, for you to spice up your individual bowl of chili.
2. Beans w/ham and cornbread (there's also several bottles of Bean-O on the counter for anyone who wants to swallow two or three before you start eating the beans.)
I decided to forego the outing today. Called my friend, and found out she's not going, either, since her great grandkids gave her a cold and sore throat, and a couple of the other ones I worked with, aren't able to go either. So maybe I won't be missing too much, by staying home, where I'm warm and dry.
You all enjoy your meal, and take care!
