Mr. Clear:  Glad you are ok!  Just to cheer you up a bit, AIG is advertising their insurance here like there is no tomorrow.  Um....maybe they are right.  Maybe using up their leftover ad $$$?

All the running around you do and the bad stuff happens near home.(figures)

They say most accidents occur within 25 miles from home, which is why I'm thinking about moving 75 miles from here (I'll be three times as safe!).  Smile,Wink, & Grin

I might downsize the P/U when I replace it eventually, but it'll still be a truck.

Glad you ended up all right, LC.

LC, glad you are all right!  Don't know anything about AIG, but I'll take your word about them.  I have heard that most accidents happen within five miles from home.

Have managed to get out today and take about three walks.  Guess I put in a total of walking about 5 blocks.

Believe our high managed to make it to about 63, 64 degrees today.  Supposed to get down to 43 by morning.  Guess tomorrow, we need to vacuum the floor furnace, and turn the thermostat up for it.

Larry, is that 25 miles for up in your area?  I don't think I've ever heard it listed that far in our  area; but, I could be wrong.  (Probably am wrong.)

MC, CW, Tree and all, thanks for the kind wishes. It all happened about 9 miles from home. I've got a bit of a sore rib cage and some assorted bruises left over. My old police academy driver's training was helpful in that I was able to maintain control to the extent that what would have been a dead center head on turned into a modified sideswipe after which I went off the narrow two lane highway, struck an embankment, boulder and a decent sized maple tree before rolling into the ditch driver's side down. I was able to climb out by standing on the steering column and opening the passenger's door with some help from passers by.

Luckily, as the airbags (all 6) in my Toyota functioned correctly and my seatbelt as well. Most of those who witnessed the crash were amazed that I and the folks in the little Dodge Neon that hit me all walked away. The Dodge crossed the other lane, a miracle it didn't hit either of the cars it was passing and left the road hitting two trees smouldering into flames. With all the police cars, fire engines, ambulance and having the highway closed for two hours it was quite an event.

Thanks Randy. Sure wish I could find a car that would burn something cheaper too. Can you make ethanol out of cat hair? The good news is that the kid who hit me was taken away by the troopers, the bad news is that his insurance is AIG!! ARRRRRGHH!!

Your tax dollars at work.

LC

Hi LC:

Speaking as one who has and continues to deal (in a limited way these days) with casualty underwriters, it is very unlikely that you will have problems with AIG's service or claims. It is not the property and casualty units that are the target of our dear uncle.

The important thing is that you are are not severely injured and that we heard from you again.

Seems that you and me almost always get to talk in the forum after  wreaks in one form or another. But as I asked you at our other wreak site: How are you holding up?

Good Monday morning, everyone.  We've got a temp of 45 degrees this morning, going for a high of 70 this afternoon.  Winds will be changing, and coming from the west, so we'll warm up nicely this afternoon.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot water for tea and hot cider are all ready.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bagels, bear claws and cinnamon rolls.

You all have a great morning, and if anyone has any requests for lunch/supper menu, please let  me know.  Otherwise, it'll be leftovers from Sunday Dinner.

.....Mid 40's now and bright sunshine and we're to see temps about 70 degrees this afternoon.

Note in recent post of gas prices:  Filled my truck last evening for $2.66 / gal. and noted that at only 2 stations.  Others at:  $2.79 and $2.81....Unusual to have several that far apart in price.....So I took advantage of it.

Still lots of {what appears to be grain}, passing thru on the Frankfort line here east bound....Again, think it heads southeast to export.

Edit:  Anyone have any ideas how to keep "sort posts" constant....Example:   "newest to oldest" ......"oldest to newest", etc....My choices seem to revert back to "oldest to newest" on their own.......

On today's lunch and supper menu:

Beef stew w/cornbread and garden salad

Hope everyone has a great afternoon, and you all take care.

I'm ready!  Dinner

Quentin:  I have my oldest to newest.  That way if I go into the diner for instance, I pick the page from the forum llist, then when the diner opens, it will have the pages oldest and I can read and scroll down to the newest one.  But I have to pick the latest page, first.

Help you at all?

.....Well Jen.....If I open up the diner thread and have "newest to oldest" structure....then I find as the first post, the latest.  So I don't need to forage back to find where I want to be.....and can just scroll down to see the most recent posts of the day.

I understand each of us no doubt has his / her preference, just what works the best.

I went to the profile page and found where one supossedly can set it the way one may like to have it, but it still seems to default to "oldest" first....

Changes...ugh.....

Different subject:  Went to vote today and we even had to stand in line at the City / County Building.....Wonder what it will be like on election day....!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  We have a temp of 54 degrees out this morning, and a cool breeze.  Going for a high of 64 today.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready, along with hot cider.

For breakfast this morning:   Jimmy Dean Sausage biscuits, scrambled eggs, bagels, bear claws, hash browns, turkey bacon, and oatmeal w/toast.

You all have a good morning, and I'll be back after I get through with Tuesday Produce.

......44 degrees right now and the trees look calm and the sky is perfectly clear and the eastern sky is brightening very fast for the bright sunshine that's about to show itself.  Should be a nice day.

We're happy for that as today is the day our street is to be repaved.  In fact just saw a work truck with rotating lights going past our location like they are inspecting and deciding if it needs the street sweeper first....They did that several weeks ago, and trimmed the edges with a grader, etc.....but now with leaves, etc.....

Eggs & hashbrowns will work for me today. We are still waiting for maple trees to shed leaves. I did cover my tomato plants last night. The grape tomatoes have long lost their great flavor, but I'm still putting them in my salads.

A wet start to the day, and "they" keep mentioning snow.  The temp is supposed to drop from ~50 to ~40 today, so we can't rule the white stuff out.

Hardly any leaves left hereabouts.  The rain this morning isn't helping any on that account.  Does make it easier to see back into the woods during the train rides, though.

Bearclaw and tea, and I'll be in the corner with my crossword.

Predicting maybe up to 12 inches for everything west of us.  We are going to keep the rain.  Which is nice except we get rain and then freezing temps.  Hopefully this won't happen

Now what's wrong with snow Mookie?  It's fun and cold!  What more could you want?  Smile,Wink, & Grin

Breakfast smells great today.  I'll grab whatevers left and hot.

On a sad RR note I spotted DMIR 413 last night.  She was not running and had numberboards removed and was being pulled behind 3 other units south, probably to Homewood.

Well, it was a bit breezy this morning for Tuesday Produce.  Temp this morning, at 5 a.m., was 54; at 8:53, it was down to 51.  Now, we're at about 58, 59.  We got the following veggies delivered this morning:  cabbage, corn, green beans, green peppers and potatoes.

For the meals for lunch and supper:  Tuesday Mexican Fiesta.

1.  Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style)

2.  Tacos (soft shell and hard shell)

3.  Chimichangas

4.  Spanish rice

Chopped lettuce w/tomato & onion (onion on the side, in case anyone doesn't want onion)

Tortilla chips w/picante sauce, salsa, chili con queso

You all have a good afternoon, and see you later.

Checked the weather map this afternoon and discovered that there's a low pressure area sitting right over us, wringing itself out.  My weather station shows 1.33" of rain for the past 24 hours.  Of course, that would be slightly over a foot of snow, if it were snow.  But it's not.

Hope supper warms well for my lunch tomorrow.  Went to a talk tonight about post traumatic stress disorder as it applies to soldiers.  It can be hard to figure out, but there are a lot of soldiers having problems after all the deployments they've been on.

Delta Queen:  What's the story......Does she stay and operate in the Cincinnati area during the Summer season....and where will it be heading now.....How far south for the winter....?

Quentin, according to what I heard on the local news this morning, she'll be here in Louisville on Friday, for a celebration; then, she's heading back down to New Orleans, where she'll be staying for the winter.
