Had a nice and lengthy day at work... 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM. I worked the fry station for the first half and then moved to the front register. I tend to enjoy working at the cash register better than the fry station, except for when crabby/mean customers come in. There is at least one each day.

Looks like we have a good chance for thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon through Thursday morning, but decent weather overall. I hope it's nice in Branson, Missouri next week, since my family and I are going there for vacation.

Good afternoon, folks!  Tuesday Produce went well today.  We got potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes (from a local farmer), lettuce and strawberries.  Only had about 51, 52 people show up today.  And everyone was on their best behavior!  Love days like that.

For lunch and supper today, I've fixed a big ole pot of vegetable beef soup, and your have your choice of crackers or cornbread to go the the soup.  Tomorrow, I'll be making more cornbread, and fixing a big ole pot of beef stew.  Got plenty of carrots, stew meat, potatoes, onion, etc., and will be putting some fresh diced tomatoes in it, also.

I failed to mention it yesterday evening, but Randy, glad to see that you were able to stop in yesterday!  Hope you're back again real soon!

You all have a nice day, and enjoy your lunch, and your afternoon!!

.....I've thought about converting some music over from records to disc's, so I could ride along with some of that music in my truck...{or car}, but like some other things, it hasn't been done.....

I actually have two (record) turntables now.  One my son got to replace the one he broke, the other came with the hardware and software to allow me to cut my LPs over to digital (and thus to CDs, etc).  Now if I can just find the time.

Cool this morning (light jacket weather).  Funny how just a couple of months ago 60 was short-sleeve weather....

Daughter reports golf ball sized hail at her house yesterday (Syracuse area) - the sun shone all day here.

.....It is cooler starting last evening.  Now, this morning we've got 59.9 degrees.  No A/C necessary.  Just fresh air from open windows as it warms more this morning.  Also, nice and bright this morning.

I'm surprised Tom, having done D J work in the past would let all the music of that era silent W/O an operating disc spinning machine....

Good Tuesday morning to one and all!  It is a very pleasant morning here in Louisville, with a temp of 62 degrees F.  Our high today is to be  79 degrees this afternoon.

Tom, you're welcome to come visit anytime!  We're always glad to see forum friends.  "Enjoy" your visit to the dentist today.  I'll be sure to have something soft on the menu, so you can eat.

Coffee, juices and cold and hot tea are ready.  On the warmer bar this morning:  oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, sausages, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, hash browns, bagels and bear claws.

Think I'll quickly eat my breakfast, then head out to the garden, to enjoy the flowers, cool weather, and watch the trains go by.  Mookie, or anyone else, care to join me?

Far out, Mutt. I will make contingency plans for a visit.

Mookie, in a way you are correct. BOBBY'S GIRL was charted by Marcie Blane in 1962. a year or two before Leslie made the scene. Leslie indeed covered the song, but I can't find anything definite on when it was done.

Dentist quack on Tuesday, gotta spend some time in the chair. Ta

Wow...Was is really 48 years ago???!!!

He played a big music fest here in '79 or '80 - his bus got stuck in the field (farmer's, literally) behind the stage and one of our firemen pulled him out with a tractor.  Did a good show, what I saw of it.

.....Well, I have a decent Lab turntable but would you believe I put it away some years ago as CD's were taking over it all and haven't had it connected since.  Before that I had several AR components....AR-3 speaker systems and their turntable and have sold those Items when I updated years ago.

But still have a capable system, but no turntable connected......

I have a mess of 45's with Ken Griffin at the keyboard and I've never heard them.  {Yes, I've heard K G many times on records but}, not the ones I was given a few years ago....Just don't feel like messing with all the connections to reconnect the turntable.  Maybe some day.

I do love the {especially the 50's}, music.  Of course it has to do with each of our ages.

Oh my:  know what I'm thinkin'?  Maybe we need to plan a "beach party" for this weekend, to welcome in the official start of summer.  What do you all think about that?  Don't know about the sand, but gee, we could get all our old records (tapes, CDs) find a turn table, for the records,  and have a blast from the past!!

I've refreshed the warmer bar with fresh from the oven pizzas, so help yourselves.  Think I'll find some more oldies but goodies, and put on the sound system!  Anyone up for doing The Twist?!?!?!  Or the Jitterbug?!?!?!

Afternoon all.....

Got a new laptop the other day, so now I can keep up with everything out on the road.  sitting in Jeffersonville, OH, waiting for a 5am edt appointment at walmart in Washington Court House.

Did some creative driving in WI this weekend, I39-90-94 was shut down in Portage, so sat in traffic for 2 hours on Saturday, and took the longer way around Sunday.  Last I heard the Baraboo River dropped enough Sunday Night to allow reopening the road.

See y'all later.....

My Dad was both a well known radio broadcaster and a musicoligist who had a career in radio which lasted 55 years, having gotten started with KSOO here in Sioux Falls in 1936. That very same year he went on the air with his own Christmas radio program which he named "Holiday Inn". In 1952, two years before I was born, the big Holiday Inn hotel corporation brought a lawsuit against my father, claiming that he was using their good name without their consent. My Dad was able to demonstrate before the judge that he had gotten the title from the motion picture "White Christmas", starring Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. The hotel corporation dropped their lawsuit and they more or less settled with a gentlemen's agreement. The interesting thing about all this is that in 1978 the innkeeper of our local downtown Holiday Inn asked my Dad to come and work for him as a sales agent, and this my Dad did for about two or three years.

Dad died of pancreatic cancer in August of 1991, and it is a shame that he is no longer here, because he would be able to tell you a lot of interesting things about music in general. I once considered following my father's footsteps into radio, but after taking a course in radio, I quickly determined that this is something that I am simply not cut out for, and I don't have the same artistic tallent for cutting radio commercials that my Dad always had.

Ah!  The GOOD OLE ROCK N ROLL!!  Of course, we have to include the 50s in that group, also!  Quentin, I believe you're correct:  Teresa Brewer did pass on, and it has been at least about a year ago, if not two years.  Now, I'm gonna want to either turn the CD player on, or turn on the local FM oldies station.

Our current temp is in the the mid 80s, and the sun is shining.  Still have the probability of scattered showers, storms until about 5 p.m.   But Mutt and I managed to get out, after the thunder shower this morning, and got a couple of errands done.

Since I had the special birthday dinner Saturday and yesterday, today we'll have our MONDAY VERSION of our Saturday Night Pizza Fest:

1.  Anchovie
2.  Cheese
3.  Pepperoni/mushroom
4.  Special (with all toppings on it)
5.  Pepperoni/Italian sausage
6.  Supreme

Hope you all have a great afternoon, and you just might hear some good ole Rock n Roll on the CD player here in the Cafe this afternoon.  (Maybe one of these years, we'll be able to get an actual Juke Box in here!)

Could someone please refresh my memory:  Is Leslie Gore the one who sang "Bobby's Girl"?  And who sang "Leader of the Pack"?

....Tom, there are many, but I'll go back just a tick farther and mention a name that brings me down a peg or two, and stop.....and listen....Teresa Brewer.  What energy in her songs and a beat that was all happyness....!

PS:  Believe I noted she passed away just last year or possibly the year before.
