Good Thursday morning, everyone!  I hope you all had a very good night's sleep.  I did, but seems I just didn't get enough, because I'm still Zzz [zzz] Zzz [zzz].

Coffee, juices and teas are ready, and on the breakfast bar, you'll find:  oatmeal & toast, bagels, bear claws, BLTs, turkey bacon, sausage(pork), biscuits & gravy and scrambled eggs, so everyone can have their choice.

Mookie, getting everything ready to fix your pork chops for lunch today.  I'll bake them in the oven, with the stuffing (or dressing as we say here in the South), shrooms, and some cream of mushroom soup poured over the top.  And we'll have applesauce, mashed taters, corn on the cob, and garden salad.  Everything should be ready by noon time for ya!!

And for those who don't particularly care for pc, there will be leftover beef stew w/cornbread, and chicken stir fry, along with the assorted veggies listed above.

Ray, if you just want the breasts by themselves; do what ever seasoning you

wish, and coat them with Miracle-Whip. Fry in skillet, on the grill, "George Foreman", oven broiler drawer, whatever....and serve with side dishes you deem appropriate.

Chicken *** over pasta (spaghetti or linguini) with your choice of sauce.  In my son's case it was spaghetti sauce - it's a very fast and easy meal for one.  Throw in some garlic bread and you're set.

I'm not one for 'shrooms - I liken them to organic rubber.

Then again, barbequed chicken is always good.  Maybe some salt potatos and macaroni salad on the side, and the corn on the cob sounds good, too.

So many choices...

Mook, you'd probably like My Pork Roast....little slots for all the Good stuff, like garlic,

cloves, etc., smothered in mushrooms!..and of course baked until it just about "falls apart"!

Ray, remind me, and I'll send you my Spaghetti Casserole recipe if you want to try it.

Mookie, I have never been much of a cook, but I can make a pretty darned good pot of spagetti sauce. In fact I am tempted to go after some ground beef, tomatoes, and tomato paste so that I can have spagetti for dinner sometime next week.

I can bake almost anything from scratch though, including cookies, breads and cinnamon rolls. Several years ago I taught myself how to bake bread from scratch, and I use all the time-honored, old fashioned methods where everything is done by hand. I do not use a bread machine! It's too bad that you and I don't live much closer together, because otherwise I would fill your house with the aroma of freshly baked bread. Chef [C=:-)]

When it comes to cookies, I would mail a small sample of what I produce to anyone in this forum who might request it. It's a great way to build friendships and I did this with a nice young lady who lives in Louisville, Kentucky with Mutt and CW.

Sorry Mook...I'm not a big PC Chef.  Or eater!

CW they didn't have cameras.  The car was there and then not-no clues, witnesses, or leads to speak of.

CW - browned porkchops with shroom soup on top and baked; pc and bread dressing like Ray was talking about. (yum) pc and fried onions....drool, breaded pc, pc and side of applesauce.  Or pc and spiced apples on the side - haven't had those for years!

Lime jello with fresh peeled and halved pears - 7 up instead of water for jello.....

I would even settle for some of Tree's good BBQ!  and corn-on-the-cob....

Ray - chix breasts - make stir fry?  Just frozen veggies and chop up the breasts before cooking.

Chix *** in a club style sandwich?  Substitute a chix *** for the other meats and combine with bacon and tomato as usual.

Linguini and browned chix breasts - mix with shroom soup, little 1/2 & 1/2 and seasoning.

Breaded chix breasts and side salad.....

CW?  Tree?  Dan?  Anyone else that cooks?

CW, I certainly would opt for pork chops for dinner tomorrow night. That is something that I've not had in a long time. When my Mom used to do pork chops, they would come out of the oven smothered in a kind of bread crumb dressing, much like you would stuff a Thanksgiving turkey with.

I've got a package of chicken breasts in my ice box which my sister bought for me a couple months ago. Can anyone give me any tips for cooking or baking chicken??

Mookie, I already had beef stew ready for tonight.  Is it all right with you, if I fix the pork chops tomorrow?  And what side dishes would like to have with the pork chops?  And how do you want the pork chops fixed (fried, baked, etc.)?

Dan, sorry to hear about your future cousin-in-law's car.  Do they have security cameras in the parking lot of her job?  Maybe they can view it, and find the perp (s).

Got more beef stew and cornbread out on the warmer bar.  We also have the following desserts:  chocolate cake, strawberry cheesecake, cherry cheesecake, blueberry cobbler and there's plenty of the ice cream that Ray brought in Saturday.

CW - we have so much oink and pork around here, you should do porkchops tonite.

When I went to the webcam, there was a TOFC (pig train).  I was surprised they didn't have life preservers on all the trailers.

I am beginning to think our brother pigs are a lot smarter than a lot of the people I am meeting here lately.

Dan - when the Driver and I wed, I cried through the whole ceremony - (I cry at every wedding, whether I know the people or not....) And my nose was running like a bad faucet.  I had a couple of tissues stuffed in my "frontage" and almost tipped the minister over when I started to thrash around in there for one of them.  I could only hope I wouldn't forget and burst out with something like "well, I am sure I had two of them when I came in here!"

Yeah - old joke, but rest is too true!

During WW1, a trench mortar round was known as a flying pig, cuz you could see it coming and duck. One, a dud, was found a few years back under a house in Flanders. The builders apparently found it to be in the way so they took a sledge hammer and beat it until it moved. The bomb squad detonated it.....

That beef stew I fixed this morning, here in the Cafe/Diner smelled so good, I've got a big pot going here at home  for tonight!!

Ray, if your cookies you're baking are your oatmeal and your chocolate chip, they're going to go like hotcakes at the block party!  Been almost a year since I had any of your cookies.  They were so good, I'm sitting here with my mouth watering.Laugh [(-D]

Hope you enjoyed the beef stew and cornbread for lunch; I've got another pot on for supper in here tonight.

Dan, glad you made it back in here!!  Good to know the wedding plans are coming right along.

Joe, already have a couple of containers ready for you for work tonight:  they're in the fridge.

I don't know about pigs being able to fly, but according to a song that had once been recorded by the late Johnny Cash, "and pigs can see the wind."

We have 74 degrees here in Sioux Falls right now, and it is supposed to warm up to about 80 this afternoon. The humidity right now is fairly low at 37%, so it's shaping up to be a pretty nice day.

I have the day off today and plan to do some cookie baking. This Saturday there is going to be a block party/reunion of a lot of the people that my brothers, sisters and I grew up with, and my sister Ginger and Donna Jones started planning this party several months ago. I have been asked to bake cookies for this event, and my sister called me last night and told me that she bought all the necessary ingredients and will be dropping them off at my front door later this morning. So it looks like I will have some work to do. I will probably produce three or four batches of cookies. And while I am at it, I will try to fill the cookie jars here in the Flat Wheel Cafe as well. I'm so glad both my kids handled their own weddings.  Dad kicked in when necessary, but didn't have to do much more than show up.

Just posted this over on the flooding thread, but thought I'd share it here, too - a first hand look at the problems on the Mississippi at Fort Madison, IA.

Edit:  Just looked at the cam again - BNSF is moving traffic over the bridge there.  Caught a stack/pig train with a bunch of ballast cars at the head end.

Smells good in here CW.  Time for a plateful!

Willy-Mookie has it right.  If you are nice eventually their crab armor may chip enough for some humanity to show.  There will always be crabby folks.  It's kinda like Death and Taxes: they'll find you eventually!

I bumped into a former client of mine at work yesterday.  Turns out he lives near the RoW where CN's washout occurred just south of Oshkosh.  I might be able to get pictures of the site now as his land goes up to the RoW.  Otherwise the only way to access it would be to trespass down the tracks.  We shall see...

In 3 months and 3 days I get married...wedding plans are going ok.  I think we're both getting nervous a little.  We just finished registering, got the cake ordered, flower contract, DJ contract, and catering contract done yesterday.  It was nice to knock those things off the list but now I'm broke!  Laugh [(-D]

Guess that's what's new with me.  I'll lurk for a bit then off to work.

Well, I really should be at work, but with today's menu, I think I'll just stay here.  Maybe a virtual jog trackside to watch the passing parade will help burn off some of those virtual calories.

Cool here - had to close up last night so the furnace wouldn't kick on.  Forecast of showers today, but nothing major.

Gotta plant the petunias this weekend, along with all the other ongoing projects.  In fact, I think I'll need to get even more!

ooo....one of those, two of those, a mess of those..... and I really need a big cup of coffee.....

Willy - happy vacation.  We got your rain overnite.  Have not looked to see how much, but just heard rain drops on the window.

Sometimes if you are extra helpful to the crabbies, they come back and are still crabby, but they will come to you particularly cuz you are the only one that treats them nice.  Maybe someday it will dawn on them to even leave a small tip for you.....

CW - think you need to refill the breakfast bar.  Blush [:I]

Good Wednesday morning, everyone!  Very pleasant, with 60 degrees currently here in Louisville; upper 50s in the outlying areas.  It was so nice and cool last night, that I slept like a baby who has finally slept through the night.

Willy, hope you and your family enjoy your vacation in Branson!!

Coffee, oj, oj/tangerine, apple, pineapple,  grape juice and tea are freshly made this morning.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  sausage, turkey bacon, hash browns, oatmeal, toast, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, bagels and bear claws.

I'll be in the kitchen, peeling and cutting up carrots, celery, onion, potatoes, and tomatoes while the stew meat is browning, so I can get the beef stew going for today's afternoon & evening meals.

You all have a great morning, and be safe and sound.
