Allentown yard's heritage is not PRR, Reading or Lehigh Valley.

Which leaves...

CNJ, but LV is close enough.  It was functionally part of LV on 4/1/76, so J Edgar, your honor....

I somehow remember ALCo having a few automobile offerings...that's back in the fuzzy part of my memory, though...

well so much for my hard questions....lol.....thats correct...ALCo built cars on contract from French Berliet until 1908 at which time they started using their own designs....noteworthy is that ALCo models won the Vanderbuilt Cup races in 1909 and 1910 as well as racing in the 1911Indy 500...also W.P.Chysler was ALCo Auto plant manager from 1911 to 1913...then went on to start his own company...Go MOPAR...lol

Ugh. I'm not the best at formulating questions, but here goes:

From it's earliest roots as the Aurora Branch until it was merged into the Burlington Northern, the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy had 15 presidents. Name any 5.

There's 3:

  • John Murray Forbes (1876-1881)
  • Charles E. Perkins (1881-1901)
  • Ralph Budd - (1932-1949)

While Hill had control of the Q, he never served as president of the line.

Quinn, who went to the CMSP&P? Was it Gaskins or Bressler that took over BN?

No on all three counts, Dale. A little hint, and a matter of civic pride: There's some residents of Aurora, IL (my hometown) in the mix, including the first and last president of the line.

There's One! Auroran, Harry C. Murphy was President from 1949-1965. I must confess that I thought that he was the last president of the Q, but after looking up the dates, it appears that there must've been one or two more before the merger. I'll see if I can figure that out on lunch here.

Sign - Oops [#oops]My bad, Dale. William J. Quinn was indeed president of the Q from 1966-1970. There was also one president (also a familiar name in the post merger years) that served between Harry C. Murphy and William J. Quinn, so that brings the total to 17.

Ah-ha. Quinn gets branded as a traitor by some of the Milwaukee Road fans. Some believe he drove the CMSP&P into the ground.

Can I throw a quick question out their. What was the last regular assigned schedule operated bythe Pioneer Zephyr before going to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and where was it's regular scheduled maintenance base at that time?
