Good morning Americans, it's CHRISTMAS. Good morning to the rest of the planet also. I hope each of you and yours have a delightful day. Rememeber that it is celebrated for a reason and meditate on him. 40 currently in Carolina with a good chance of rain. I plan to spend today on R&R and messing with the wireless. Now, gotta go and let my girls back in. Stay warm. Ta

....South Carolina seems a bit warmer than Indiana this morning...We're at 25, but nice and clear and sun is shining brightly in my east window of our home office here.  No snow on the ground.  The nasty wind has moved on, so for our Christmas day..{to be near 40}, looks rather nice seasonally.

Yes, this is the Lord's Day.  We should remember it that way.

A nice, peaceful Christmas day.  A bit gray and 35, but we can live with it.

Here's hoping that everyone got everything they wanted for Christmas (or they can find it at the store when they return it).

(1) No egg-nog to be found anywhere in Denver yesterday after 1 pm

(2) 4 inches of snow and still falling today (it was 53 degrees yesterday)

(3) Grampa and Bubba Claus must have hit it off

Merry Christmas All!

It's a very nice, quiet day here, even the scanner (Fire & EMS) has been

relatively quiet also. Temps. in the 50s, feels more like a "Spring Day"

than a "Winter Day".

Sightings of "Bubba Claus" were reported in very southern Ky. (Tn border) but

none around here, although I'm surprised, as there are several small towns

just south of us that seem to welcome him more than the other. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I've replenished everything on the warmer bar, and the cold items are in the front cooler.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas, and remembering the REASON FOR THE SEASON !!

Seems the local tv stations have given everyone the day off:  we've not had any local news this morning or afternoon.  As Mutt said, the scanner has been very quiet today.  Wonder when all heck will break loose.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  It's not too bad out this morning:  35 degrees, going for a high today in the mid 50s, with a possibilty of rain coming in after midnight.  Joe, good to know everyone made it home safely.

Coffee just finished brewing, juices are ready, and there's hot chocolate and hot tea available.  On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, homemade biscuits w/sausage gravy, hash browns, bagels and bear claws, and Christmas cookies.

For those of you going back to work today, be careful out there, with all the "After Christmas" shoppers that will be around everywhere.  And everyone have a great day!!

....25 degrees starts our day and it's clear but of course the sun hasn't come up over the horizon as of yet.  To be warmer today than yesterday, so should be a pretty nice day.

If the forecast remains the same, we're to see some possible {just possible}, precip late tonight.

I've put out some turkey, bread, lettuce, cheese, etc., so you all can make your own sandwiches for lunch.  There's also some mashed taters and gravy that I fixed a few minutes ago.  If you want, you can make your sandwiches open-faced, and put some of the gravy over the turkey and bread.

At 12:13, the sun is shining brightly, and it's getting warmer out.  May even take a walk, later on, if I can just get the energy to go for a walk.

Hot turkey sandwiches?  I'm all over that like, well, gravy!

Just found out I have some excess vacation to use up.  Means I'm only working one more day this year!

Unless something happens and I have to come in anyhow...

Mild weather.  Thirty six right now.  Just warm enough to melt the snow (especially the stuff packed on my driveway) but not too fast (don't need any flooding).

Found out this past weekend that DIL's Dr thinks she'll deliver early.  Maybe a Valentine's baby!

Congratulations on the possible early delivery, Larry. I assume this is a grandchild? Still 42 and dripping here in Carolina, and I doubt it will get to 50 today like the weatherguess is. Ta

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  We did manage to get some rain overnight, and it's already started moving east of us.  Hope you all had a good evening, and are ready for a brand new day.  Coffee, juice and hot chocolate are ready, as is hot tea.

On the warmer bar is all the regular breakfast menu items, along with some fresh cantaloupe and pineapple.

One of you will have to take charge of lunch today:  I go back to the surgeon for another post op visit.  I probably won't be home until after 1 p.m.  So, could one or two of you take over for this afternoon?  And after I get home, I'll come in and fix the pizzas for Thursday night pizza fest.

You all have a good morning, and see ya later.

I'll gladly take some of the "White Stuff" down here. Any kind of precipitation will do since this is GA's driest year since 1954. Shock [:O]

You can have our rain, since they are telling us it will be freezing rain.  Not much, though, and it will change over to snow later, if just an inch.

I may be on vacation, but it's time to get caught up on all the housecleaning I didn't get done last summer while I was playing on the railroad...

Thought I'd check in since it's been a while.

We're supposed to get 6" of snow tomorrow but we'll see what we get.  Last week Sunday was fun!  We had blowing and drifting snow at night.  I am used to driving in snow (~20 years worth) and know how to take drifts at speed.  We hit a couple of 3' drifts at 45 mph.  Apparently I should have warned her at the first one...hehe!  She got over it and I can now sleep in the house again!  Kidding...

Christmas was too good to me in my opinion, but I did get to spend time with lots of family and friends so it's an even trade.  I'll take some cider and a cookie and lurk for a bit.

Mudchicken, bet that is making for some interesting traffic situations!  Maybe you could call our Metro government, and ask the mayor to send some of his brine solution your way.  Laugh [(-D]

Joe, thanks for taking care of lunch for me today!  Well, dr. appointment went very well.  I walked around for him, and his only suggestion was that I get some arch supports for my shoes.  He said I was very flat footed.  He also poked around the knee, moved in just about every conceivable position, and said it's doing well.  Matter of fact, I don't have to go back to him until September 17, 2008, the one year anniversary of my surgery.

Getting ready to start preparing the pizzas for tonight.  I'll only make three or four different kinds, and only two extra large of those.  So, they should be out of the oven right around 6, 6:30.

Dan, welcome back, and glad you had a nice time with your family and friends.

Been awhile since I stopped in the Coffee Shop on this side of the tracks.....errr.....Trains Mag that is! I frequent the Model Railroader side more often than not!

Reason I'm over here today is I picked up the Trains Magazine special collector's edition when I saw the beautiful Tuxedo NS F's on the cover, I just had to get it!

So I been lurking around the Trains Mag forum for a little bit and though I would drop in and say Hello!

Hey CW - nice to see you are still providing the meals from the back of the house. Chef [C=:-)] I'll be ready for some of those pizzas at around 1800 like you said....thanks!

And for all you Southern Railway fans, here is my YouTube video link to my Southern #6133 FP-7 locomotive cab ride at the NC Transportation Museum back in May!

SilverSpike, welcome back to the Diner/Coffee Shop.  We're always glad to see former patrons back in here.

On our THURSDAY PIZZA FEST menu tonight:

1.  Anchovie (Jay, are you in tonight?)
2.  Hawaiian
3.  Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom
4.  Supreme
5.  Calzones

Getting ready to take the first five kinds out of the oven (thanks again, Dan, for that big industrial size oven, with all that space!)  It sure does come in handy around here!!

Joe, have an assortment made up for you and Lance for work tonight.

Hope everyone has a great evening, and take care!!

CW, thanks for the pepperoni/sausage/mushroom. It is always great, and I tried the anchovy for the first time. I will be back. I am pleased to hear that the quack visit went well and you don't have to go back for a spell. I talked for a while this afternoon with a nice guy about medical insurance. It sounded great until I called all my quacks plus a few, and none of them accept it. One went so far as to tell me to stay away from that company. I guess that's that..... 55 degrees in Carolina at present. CW, stay tuned, I will be back shortly for more of that anchovy.....
