We saw a primer gray KCS go west yesterday.  I mentally painted it the way I wanted it...Cool [8D]

Good morning - cold, but a very nice day ahead - and no wind.  Coffee needed - skip beagle and take some toast instead - maybe a little p-butter?

Smooth or crunchy?

Wet and cool here this morning - a quarter inch of rain already when I checked the home weather station.  Snow in the forecast, but hopefully nothing significant.  Got a 2 hour road trip to a railroad luncheon on Saturday.  For what it will cost me in gas, I could have a pretty nice meal right here, but there's the camaraderie...

I'll take another of those bearclaws and some tea, s'il vous plaît.

Tree - read just this morning that gas will go up about 10-20 cents a gallon in the very near future.  But also heard $4 next summer.

Quentin - may I borrow your ModelCar?

....J....That wouldn't help much, as most of them are performance models, but not all....How about a '41 Chevrolet convertible, cream in color with a black top and red leather interior, and wood grained finish trimmed, dash.  It has  216 cid engine that would do very well on gasoline....!

A '41!  That is even older than me by two years!  Sounds wonderful!  And you could say it was only driven by a little old man......who won't let the little old lady drive!  Disapprove [V]

....And me being a bit older the above writing reminds me of an incident {involving 12" = 1'}......I remember riding home from the dealer with big brother in a green '40 Chevrolet convertible with tan leather interior and light color top as he just received it.

Wonder if that's why I have the '41 in my collection of models....Close as I could get to a '40.

And one more thing remembered...On that trip home we had to stop for a train...Powered by steam engines....a coal train on the S&C branch of then, B&O at Geiger, Pa.  Now that really makes my writings legal....{but the story is really true}.

Sorry about not getting back in this afternoon, until now.  Been concentrating on my exercises today, trying to get back into doing them every day.  (Yes, I've been a very bad girl.  Sorry about that, too!)

Here's tonight's Thursday Pizza Fest menu:

1.  Anchovie; 2.  Canadian Bacon; 3.  Cheese; 4.  Goetta; 5.  Hawaiian; 6.  Supreme; 7. Calzones; 8.  Apple/Cinnamon dessert pizza.

Our temps today didn't make it past 42, maybe 43 degrees.  We even saw a couple of snow flurries.

Joe and Lance, containers are ready and in  the fridge for you all for work tonight.

Good Friday morning everyone!  Dan, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning! I really appreciate your help around here!

Weatherwise this morning, we're at around 32 degrees this morning, w/no wind, and 'should' reach a high in the low 40s.

Mutt is beginning to feel better, and, until he manages to get in to say "Thank you!" for your well wishes, I just want to say Thank you to all of you!

You all have a great morning, and I'll see you all later, when I'm frying the fish, etc., for our Friday Fish Fry.

Good mornings ladies and germs, How yall? 34 degrees and breezy in Carolina this morning. I had a nice bowl of Honey Nut flavored oatmeal this morning and it was just what the dr ordered. Speaking of the quack, she said my problem was likely due to some prescription meds, so I got new rxs and will have to try them out to see. Not much activity heard on the A line the past few hours, but that is not all that unusual. I am jealous of yall what are getting rain and snow. We can use either or both. It's DRY here. Take care

Side dishes:  baked beans, corn on the cob, fries, hushpuppies, and in the cooler:  cole slaw, garden salads, and fruit salad.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake, pecan pie, chocolate pie, and coconut cream cake.

Tom, hope the new medication(s) work for you!!

Forgot to mention that yesterday, our illustrious owner, JHH, called to check on us.  He had heard that some severe weather had struck the KY. area, and he wanted to make sure we were safe.  He is doing all right, and was calling from work.  Sounded like they were very, very busy in the background.  He was kept busy, handing out parts, etc., that people were coming in to get.

Cincy, eh?  Spent a good five hours there at the airport on Tuesday, and another two yesterday...

Thought I'd share a couple of cell phone shots of the Huntsville Intermodal Terminal, which is just east of their airport.  I got these shots as my travel partner and I drove back around to the airport after a quick stop at Boeing on the south side yesterday morning.

Good Saturday morning!  Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning!  Really like the napkins:  they'll give the Diner a very festive look!!

Brian, really like your pictures.  Really like the second shot.

For all who will be traveling this week, please have a safe trip, and a safe holiday.

You all have a great day, and I  want everyone back in here this evening for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.

Not sure what CUT is- Cincinnati Union Terminal?  During my 5-hour stay, the only terminal I got to see was the inside of Terminal C at the airport, thanks to a mechanical issue with the Com Air plane we were supposed to be taking to Huntsville, which ended up being stuck at Dayton while we got a different plane and crew.

Sounds like the only thing Brian may have seen at CVG / Greater Cincinnati Airport that was from CUT were the monster wall tile mosaics in the terminal that were originally from the platform concourses at CUT.

Brian: The CVG on your airport ticket stub and airline itinerary stands for Covington, Ky. Until the late 1940's, everbody in Cincinnati flew out of Lunken Field on the Ohio side of the river. What is now CVG was built as a WWII Army Airfield in 1942. Part of the reason why Lunken could not expand to handle bigger aircraft was its location in a river valley (flooding and hills) and Pennsylvannia Railroad's Undercliff Yard (hump yard) at one end of the two runways. American airlines started at Lunken Field in 1925 as Embry-Riddle Flying Service. In 1930, Lunken was the largest municipal airfield in the country.

http://www.cincyrails.com/ioryphotos/crYSSH15LinwoodOH12-30-93JELandrumPhoto.jpg

Conrail ripped out Undercliff in 1982 after moving all the operations to old NYC Sharonville Yard. (What's left is a 5 track siding known as "Cliff") What was Cincinnati's first railroad running by Cincinnati's first commercial airport is now a stub ended branch (Oasis Sub.) of RailAmerica's Indiana & Ohio RR

Thanks for the background info, MC.  I knew that I was actually in Kentucky, but I didn't know anything about the history.  I didn't get to see much while arriving or departing from there, either- those CanadAir jets have such puny, low-on-the-wall windows...
