Thanks for fixing breakfast, Joe. I'm hungry this morning! While it is a bit cold here in Sioux Falls, it is not nearly as cold as it has been earlier this past week. Right now we have a temp of 10 degrees above 0, and there is no wind right now, so that helps a lot. It is supposed to get up to 30 here this afternoon.

I will be headed for work in about an hour, got to work a six hour shift today at Wendy's. I will not complain though, if the flakey manager there would give me more hours to work I'd be happy. I am looking at submitting applications for employment with a few other places just to survive. I am living from pay check to pay check and the money is slipping through my fingers almost unknowingly, but then that's the way life is for a lot of us.

I hope everyone has a good day. Stay warm!

Great fish CW.  We're supposed to get some snow tonight, about 3" or so.  Tomorrow I'm going to try and catch some CN action in the snow.  Stay warm everyone!

Dan, very glad to see you back in here!  You were definitely missed around here.  Hope you'll continue to make your presence know in here!   Congratulations on the promotion at the Model Railroad Club last night.

Everything has been replaced on the warmer bar for our FRIDAY NIGHT FISH FRY, including all the side dishes, and cole slaw and salads are in the cooler, above the desserts.

Thankfully, our temps will be warming up tomorrow.  I've been trying each day to get outside and take a very short walk, in the afternoons.  Come back with very, very cold feet and toes that feel like ice cubes.

I'm sure Driver takes good care of Millie.  Probably keeps him from becoming a scratching post!

Since it's been a while I thought I'd pop in.  Here's a 'Dan Update' for anyone who wants to read it:

Work's been a zoo lately...wild tigers and rhinos everywhere!  DUCK AND COVER!!!  I suppose it helps that I can still dodge, duck, dip, dive, & dodge pretty well (Name that movie!).

Got 'promoted' at the Model Railroad club last night.  Now I'm the official secretary and webmaster.  Things are moving along with my module and the club layout.  If anyone wants to see pics let me know and I'll send them to you or redirect you to where they're sitting now.

Wedding plans are finalizing.  We're now down to less than 8 months as of last Sunday.  Thankfully, due mostly to lots of pre-planning, we've avoided most drama.  My photographer suggested that I see about getting pics taken on a locomotive...somehow that idea didn't sit well with the fiancee...lol.

I'm still going through some old pictures from when I was a kid 20ish years ago.  Found some neat ones (posted now in Trackside Lounge) of CNW's 1385 and other steam engines.  I'm still looking for the ones of me at the helm of 3 SD40-2s.

So that's about it.  Everyone behave and stay warm!

Carefull there Mooks...Millie might start feeling old, lonely and taken for granted and suddenly want trips to the car spa, new shoes, getting friendly with a cute mechanic and who knows what else.   shhhhh!

Cannonball, sounds good!  Your party for tonight sounds pretty good, also!!

Our FRIDAY FISH FRY is just about ready to be put out on the warmer bar.  In the way of kinds of fish, you've got your choice of anything from catfish to whitefish, with every kind of side dish you can imagine, from corn on the cob to greens, with all the regular desserts we always have on hand.

Clutter?  I'm working on getting rid of it, but I've got so much built up that putting "this" away means having to clean "that" first, so there's a place to put it.  It gets circular after a while and I get dizzy, so I just sit down and watch a movie on TV...

Bearclaw and some tea for me.  Hope we've got plenty of bearclaws - they  seem to be getting popular.Dinner [dinner]

Most women and almost all mothers, come with a built in "guilt" mechanism.  You can only sit or lay so long and then you have that overwhelming urge that you really need to attend to something - like clean the bathroom or refold the clothes or pick up clutter that no one else can see (that's mine)....or whatever your personal guilt is....

Good morning! I am a late riser this morning, didn't get out of bed until about a half an hour ago. I think I'll grab a bear claw and pour myself a cup of hot cider while I am here.

Right now we have 13 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and the wind chill leaves us at 0. It is supposed to warm up to about 22 degrees here later this afternoon, and we are supposed to see the temp climb into the upper 20's over the weekend. It is kind of cloudy here, but I don't think we will be getting any snow today. I have noted that right now the weather conditions in Louisville, Kentucky are almost the same. Louisville has a temp of 11 degrees right now, but at least there is no wind.

Hey, I'll have you know I do a pretty good job of keeping the house in order!Tongue [:P]  Besides, can't let things get in the way of her walker... and she's doing better every day, last night was the most restful night of sleep she's gotten since the surgery.

We've got -2 degrees here yet, still waiting for the warm air to get here.

CW - got a bellyache, my teef itch, can't get out of the hammock - it was perfect!

Hey easterners - it is 20 here this morning - and that is above....celebrate!  Must be spring!  Remember my slogan - on 2/2 if he sees shadow, we have 6 more weeks of winter, doesn't see - we have 6 more weeks of 10 degree spring!

It is 20, so must be early spring - eh?

Hi to Joanie - get better fast otherwise you will never get your house back in order (sorry Brian)

No seminars now until February - then several each week.  But they won't be all day ones.  Just the short annoying ones.

Sir C - found something you can plant with the asparagus - egg plant.  Why would anyone eat something that resembles a purple egg?  Ugh!

"GOOOOOOOD FRIDAY MOORRRRRRNING, DINER PEOPLE!!" (Thought I'd do my Robins Williams impersonation from the movie, "Good Morning, Vietnam".)  Must have woke up in a wierd mood this morning!

Yes, it's Friday, and no, we're not having our usual Friday doughnuts this morning.  Instead, it's just the plain ole everyday breakfast of turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hot oatmeal w/toast, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, fresh baked bagels and bear claws.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot tea are all ready to be poured, and there's fresh oj, oj/tangerine and orange/pineapple juices this morning.

Our current temps are not quite as cold as some of you.  But we do have 12 very cold degrees, and I haven't heard them say the exact wind chill temp.  Guess they don't want us to know what it really feels like out there this morning.

Mookie, how did your taste test turn out yesterday?!?!

It had gotten down to 19 degrees below 0 here last night, to say nothing of wind chill. Right now our temperature is 8 degrees above, and there is no wind.

I just had lunch with my sister and her husband at one of our local Perkins. I am going to teach my sister how to bake bread sometime next week. It is just a matter of finding out when I will have a day or two off from my job next week. Chef [C=:-)]

I heard this morning that the BNSF dumped several carloads of corn near downtown Billings, Montana in a derailment and that it will take them a few weeks to clean it all up. The grain was loaded at Madison, South Dakota and the train was headed for Washington state.

Good afternoon from Iowa, where we established a new record low this morning for this date: -20 degrees.  And that's not wind chill.  Since then we've bounced back quite nicely- my weather station shows 6.3 degrees ABOVE zero, and the sun is shining brightly.

....Jen, that stuff you are sending east for us over the weekend and beyond....will warm up before it gets here...{Somehow}, as your comment of 30's will be high 40's here Sunday and beyond....Now that's according to our crack weather people.

Still a bright day here with the cold falling down from up north and some wind...Saw wind chill figures on an Indy station within this past hr. is -11.  Sure makes it feel good in the home office here to look out and see it bright, but most of all, the nice temp right here at my computer.

Guys:  thanks for the suggestions.  Today's meals will be:

1.  Pepperoni pizza w/jalapeno peppers & mushrooms for Cannonball
2.  Beef stew w/Ray's homemade bread and cornbread
3.  Chili
4.  Shepherds' Pie w/bread sticks

Desserts:  Apple Brown Betty, chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, and yellow cake w/caramel icing.  And plain cheesecake for Tom.

Everything will be ready by 12:30 EST, so come on back in, and take your pick.

The last time I checked our outdoor thermometer, it showed a current temp of 18, and that was about three hours ago.  I know it's even colder now, because my hands are so cold, I can hardly type!  (And yes, I'm inside the house.)

Good morning, all. It was 40 earlier in Carolina, but will be colder tonight. I don't have trouble getting the girls back in when its pretty cold, but when it warms up, they get stubborn!! I spent the morning talking to Europeans on the wireless. Some nice folks there. CW, I will side with beef stew and chili, if you don't mind, with maybe some plain cheesecake for dessert. My thanks. Gotta go, my pillow is calling my name....
