Two BNSF painted GP35s lashed with a blue and yellow warbonnet GP30 pulling a whopping 3 centerbeam flats. I presume the return was going to be a bit heavier, but probably not enough to justify the three loco combo. I believe the only industries on our branch are a flour mill and a lumber yard.

Last Monday, January 12, I saw a Conrail (yes, it was...) SD80MAC in Conrail blue hauling a mixed freight eastbound through Sidney,Ohio. I have an NS SD80MAC in HO from Kato, but had never seen a "Big Mac" in real life.

Woo hoo![8)]

Yesterday on the CSX main between Bostic, NC and Charlotte, I saw one train that had a TFM unit on it and a second train that had two UP 70Ms.

dougal [:)]

Did you get any pics of that Alco?
The C424s and the C425s were and are still some good engines. [:)]
If you have pics of them or any other Alco please email me some. [:)]
If you have some good pics of any railroad engines you think are neat or special you can email them too. (I lost most all my pics recently during my bout with a virus.)

When you finish your layout I would love to see it. Your artwork on the engine drawings is really good. The first one is so colorful, wow. I bet that would drive the paint shop crazy. [:D]

The 3985 is coming into my neck of the woods on the way back north. I have already picked out my photo shoot location. I am keeping it a secret so hopefully it won't be crowded. If I get a good pic or two I will post it here. I might send Bergie one if they are good. Wish me good luck and good weather.

These multiple unit consists some of you saw may simply be engines in tow. The division I was assigned to wouldn't allow us to have more than 18 powered axles on line at any one time, but there have been as many as 7 locomotives in my train- 3 under power and 4 headed to Linwood N.C. to be serviced.

UP 576 with a CSX unit I didn't bother to get the number of at Ft Drum (Watertown) NY. Second time I've seen UP units here on post.

This was the first time:

Hey, I saw the westbound Chief out of Chicago last weekend with a Genesis and two P32-8 units, I thought they were being used in yard service these days. Yesterday I saw BNSF train symbol BRCGAL (Belt Railway of Chicago to Galesburg) with a SD60M white face and a GP9B repainted in Heritage I colors (a real rarity around here). Jim

Today I saw an Amtrak GP38 pushing 3 coaches and 3 mow cars with a mow caboose at the lead. The train went right through the Amtrak station in Wilmington De, heading south. I guess they were delivering the coaches to the Amtrak Bear Repair Complex.

Today, literally just hours ago, I saw a BNSF SD40-2 and a trailing rare GP60B! These fast machines are becoming scarce, being demoted to manifest freight jobs (which is what i saw it on), and I consider my self lucky to have seen one.

On CHRISTMAS DAY, yes on Christmas Day, I saw a green BNSF unit with a CSX unit pulling a train of tank cars and intermodal. There might have been some boxcars too, but mostly tank cars and intermodal. I have a few pics. I will see about getting them on here. (It might take a while to do that tho.)

Recently I saw a strange lash-up on the BNSF River Sub by my house. Here's how it went:
1. SD40-2 --- BN
2. SD70MAC --- BNSF pumpkin
3. SD50 --- Oakway leasing, still in full EMD paint
4. C44-9W --- BNSF pumpkin

I couldn't figure out why BNSF would running an A.C. unit in the middle of 3 D.C. units espically since D.C.units have the transition phase with the traction motors, and A.C. units do not. Also, why they would be running a single GE in the midst of all those EMD's ( GE's have a much different transition phase than EMD's [much rougher] and just one GE in a lashup of all EMD's can screw up the transition of the EMD's). A friend of mine suggested that it was a power shortage because he saw a SUPER odd lash-up himself, It was a coal train running in DPU, up front;
1. SD70MAC
2. GP35
3. GP28M
in rear:
1. SD70MAC
How 'bout them apples?![8D][wow][;)][yeah]
Railpac - this sounds like it may have traveled through Lincoln! This is very similar to what we have up here all the time. Over the holidays I have seen GP60's, GP30's, GP35's, GP40's, SW10 and SW 15 and an SD9, which I hadn't seen before.

Isn't it great!

I have not been able to watch any trains for several days now. OH, the pain and agony of it--not seeing any. [:(]

And today being a holiday, I wonder who many trains will actually be running?

I did hear one last night just before midnight. I was thinking that if I were the engineer of that train I would want to hurry and get out of town. The idiots here fire their guns up into the air at Midnight. Not Safe at all, but they still do it. [:(!]

Didnt "see" them, used them to switch instead....
A UP SD60M and a Dash 9, (all our switch motors were out of the yard)
They dont stop very well, but when you wind them up and kick,
well, that was fun.
We didnt even bother to make cuts, just came out of the receiving yard, shoved around and started kicking with 80 cars.
Never noticed the "transisition problem", but you better be ready to get the pin.
Stay Frosty,
Ed
