Little Rock & Western. [:D]

Thursday while on the way to work I again saw the green and white locos of the Little Rock and Western. [:D]

Last weekend I saw a loco very close to SP in color. However the blue was more black and it was labeled LTEX. After I did some research I found out that this unit belonged to Larry's Truck and Electric. This was the first LTEX unit I think I have ever saw. [8] [B)] [:0] BTW, the unit turned out to be an ex-SP.

I didn't really get to go railfanning this weekend. I did take a few shots of the River Rail Streetcar and saw several trains but wasn't really railfanning.

I havn't seen anything good in weeks, or even months. the last good thing I saw was an Amtrak Genesis on the Downeaster. Pretty standard fare for most of you guys, but my region isn't exactly railroad saturated. [:(]

I saw UP 3300 in Fox River Grove, IL on Tuesday night running as #2 engine on a run on the Harvard sub towards Janesville,WI. 3300 is in the United Way Stars paint scheme. I only wish it had been during the day and I'd had truned around and followed with my camera in hand!

Last weekend, I saw CNW 8575. But...thanks to centerbeam cars being to far away, I just got a pictur of it's noe. Today on the other hand looking at the Rochelle camera.

Today at 11:10 AM, I saw the train in the picture above! It is good to see C&NW engines are still alive. One of the two C&NW engines was #6084.

I dont know what i saw! it was on the Rochelle webcam a few weeks ago about 8.00a.m., 8 or 9 locos with a tank car behind 1st unit and one before the last unit. The locos had marker lights on their sides and to be brutally honest they were plain ugly! Any clues to their identity would be greatly appreciated.

Regards from accross the pond.

On the way downtown this Thursday I saw a N S HiHood Geep. I was driving and just had time to take a quick look. I think the number was N S 3258. It was the second unit in a two unit consists (the first one being a UP unit). They were setting on one leg of the wye getting ready to head northwest to Van Buren/Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Now that the weather is improving in most places we can have many more reports of . . . "Recently I Saw" . . ., and I am looking forward to reading them and hearing what you recently saw. [:)]

Last week, I saw an unrepainted, and unrenumbered Rio Grande SD40T-2 leading a UP SD40-2 on a train heading north to Ogden. I've also seen an Erie Western covered hopper in UP's North Salt Lake Yard, and a Rock Island Motor Transit semi trailer in UP's MoW equipment yard in SLC.

The Wisconsin and Southern's Madison Area Local PM Job(MALPM) Brought the thrice a week local into Reedsburg WI last night right about 9:00PM. The Engine was 3806,(Nick-named by engineers the Thirty-Eight-O'-Slip) a GP38, 5 boxcars, and a plastics car. They picked up a Empty Ribside covered hopper from the local co-op, and an empty Centerbeam flatcar from the Lumber company in town. The also moved a few of the 20-odd Plastics cars as the Plastics plant in town around and pulled two empties, before continuing on there way back to the yard(Reedsburg is at the end of a approximately 55 mile branch line).

I saw an unusual colelction run past my house today. Usually when the train goes by there is a GP 38 on either end and a small collection of box cars and covered hoppers in between. Usually a total of 6-10 cars. Very, very rarely you'll see a gondola included. one of the customers must have scrap metal or something that they ship out.

Anyway, today the consist went like this:

GP-38 high nose
4 gondolas
GP 38 high nose
Box car
covered hopper
box car
3 covered hoppers
4 box cars

I've never seen them have the second engine in the middle like that. I assume the gondolas were going to a seperate shipper and the second loco was taking the rest of the cars somewhere else. Just thought I'd share.
