Hey,

I'm 15! I like planes and trains. Right now, I'm more into trains. :)

Airplanes are really awesome[^]
Near my house there is a place to watch them- about 500 feet from the end of the runway, and planes fly really low- those 747s are a really scary sight[:0].
Anchorage Airport is one of busiest in America with planes taking off every minute or so.

There are some young railfans who are quite active preservationists. I found a webpage on the internet about a group of teenagers from New Zealand who are working on restoring a Barclay 0-4-0T themselves without any help from adults. They call themselves The Barclay Boys. The website is www.geocities.com/barclayboys .

I'm almost 13 and love being a train fan! In my opinion the younger you are when you start to like trains, the more you like em.

You got that right!!! I have been around trains for as long as I can remember, and they seem to become more interesting every day! Plus, another benefit is that you can never see the same thing twice...well maybe...but unlikely. I especially enjoy getting to go to the tracks for a few hours and see a lot ot trains roar by. Enjoy 'em!!

As far as I am personally concerned I think it's great to have folks of any and all ages involved in railfanning. Where I hang out in Eola, IL I see people (males and females) from very little kids to folks in their 80's and all having a good time watching and chatting about trains and other things. It is a very healthy hobby that gets all of us out of doors and breathing some fresh air and in the sun for a while. Let's face it, railfanning is very, very much better for kids than most of the other things many kids are into these days! Agree? JIm in Aurora, IL

Hehe [:D] that is very true.
Sometimes when my parents say "What? Going to the tracks again????", I just say innocently, "Well, I could also go smoking with my friends[;)]"...well, they are very supportive of my hobby, actually [:)]

But then after some time you would go deaf. This summer the normal runway was being reconstructed, and planes took off above the residential areas. Thats where i live. Beleive, a first i was excited, too. But those things are so loud they shake up everything in your house- even brake stuff after it falls off the wall. People called the airport all summer long- literally cussed them out, even thereatened someone.
Now planes don't take off in my direction- and i at least get more sleep and don't have to worry about one of those things going thru my house.
