Young Railfans

Now planes don't take off in my direction- and i at least get more sleep and don't have to worry about one of those things going thru my house.

As far as I am personally concerned I think it's great to have folks of any and all ages involved in railfanning. Where I hang out in Eola, IL I see people (males and females) from very little kids to folks in their 80's and all having a good time watching and chatting about trains and other things. It is a very healthy hobby that gets all of us out of doors and breathing some fresh air and in the sun for a while. Let's face it, railfanning is very, very much better for kids than most of the other things many kids are into these days! Agree? JIm in Aurora, IL

Where I hang out in Eola, IL I see people (males and females) from very little kids to folks in their 80's and all having a good time watching and chatting about trains and other things. You got that right!!! I have been around trains for as long as I can remember, and they seem to become more interesting every day! Plus, another benefit is that you can never see the same thing twice...well maybe...but unlikely. I especially enjoy getting to go to the tracks for a few hours and see a lot ot trains roar by. Enjoy 'em!!

You got that right!!! I have been around trains for as long as I can remember, and they seem to become more interesting every day! There are some young railfans who are quite active preservationists. I found a webpage on the internet about a group of teenagers from New Zealand who are working on restoring a Barclay 0-4-0T themselves without any help from adults.
