If you look at the post counts in all the other threads, you'll see that the forum is only hanging on by the thinnest of threads.  This topic is the only thing keeping the forum viable.

Very true. Every popular thread seems to get locked.  No offensive language was used on this thread nor were any of the TOS violated since this was exempt from bring off-topic.

One wonders who are the members who complain?  Perhaps they could simply ignore this thread?  Mr. Otte seems to enjoy what appears to be increasingly arbitrary locking of threads.

To be fair, he didn't specifically say that complaints were coming from members. They could be coming from Kalmbach employees, or Kalmbach stockholders, or from advertisers.

Seriously?  Kalmbach management more likely.

Is Mr. Otte a Putin proxy for disinformation?

He tried, read his posts between the two threads and look whose complaint matches what he stated above.    Pretty sure the issue was escalated over his head.

Gee Balt, hope you didn't just kill this thread prematurely.

I'd better get my speculations in right now regarding Putin's plan B.

He's failed to take Kiev and decapitate the Ukrainian government and wouldn't have the resources to subjugate a hostile citizenry in a vast country. But he could control Ukraine eastward of the Dnieper from say Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia-Kherson through the Donbas to his legal border. Now his people could go to the beach through all-Russian territory without the tiresome long trip over the Kerch bridge/causeway. Voila. Victory. Let's party in Crimea this summer. C'mon down. The smoke over there? Oh, that's Mariupol where it was difficult to drive out those nazis.

At this point he'll take a break to pass out cigars, but not long enough to allow a large Ukrainian materiel buildup. And then it'll be time to encircle and starve those annoying salients at Kiev, Kharkiv and Odessa. And if they get off their duffs in Belarus and the Russian militarized part of Moldava...

Having said all that, I don't feel better.

He was not a regular poster and...

Actually he told you exactly who it was and paraphrased the complaint made earlier in the forum almost verbatum    I believe the complaint was made in the thread that was locked and initially Mr Otte took the complaint seriously and locked that thread.   Then when you guys protested, Mr Otte opened this thread with a warning to a unknown party that might try to close it because they did not want to see the issue discussed.

Geez, I seem to be the only guy on this website that reads all the posts on a topic and remembers what was stated by whom.    Kalmbachs call it's their website.   I suspect the complainer escalated the issue to higher ups.

I must be out of practice in sandbox fighting, as your reply went right over my head. Sigh

So for the benefit of those of us too lazy to go back to the previous thread, who was the complaining member?

This war is spilling over to other countries,  There is unconfirmed reports that Russia has moved a very small contingent  ( platoon size or smaller) closer to the Findland border.  Putin now warning Findland to not join NATO.

A platoon is only 25-40 men.  I'm sure they have more troops near the Finnish border, since it's several hundred kilometers long.  I think Sweden and Finland will either both join, or neither one will.

Jeez. Can't say I've been accused of being a Putin apologist before. Huh? You really know how to make a guy feel all warm and fuzzy.

In case you didn't recognize the sarcasm, allow me to translate: Accusing me of heavy-handed censorship every time I set foot in this Forum is not a good way to get me on your side.

I don't get any credit for allowing you guys to discuss a completely off-topic subject for seven weeks in the first place?

Addendum: If I hear of any harassment of people who you think filed the complaints that got this thread locked, it will be dealt with very harshly.

Well - Putin thinks he is getting the warm and fuzzies from Ukraine.

I don't wish Putin's genocide upon anyone at Kalmbach.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

A new worry:  This article although do not agree with everything has a lot of merit.  As I have posted even before this war I have concern for the vulnerability of GPS.  Aircraft navigation would be seriosly degraded.  PTC will not be able to operate except those rail line that use ACSES.

I read it but he has his own GPS system to worry about so I don't think he will go there.    GPS Spoofing attempts, yes.    Taking the entire system out?    Doubt he would go that far.   Note there have been no major cyberattacks against the United States by Russia.............and nobody can tell you why.

Russia is very good at bragging about their new weapons and technology. I wonder if they aren't as good as they say they are and are just trying to psyche us out.  Their military hasn't performed anywhere near as well as we thought.  Maybe they've tried cyber attacks and our geeks are just better than their geeks.

While I don't object with closing this since it was off-topic, the reasons for closing it now don't seem appropriate.

It's not the Ukraine that has invaded Russia.

The cost to Russia of this war went up spectacularly today. The Russian cruiser Moskva went up in flames today. The Ukrainians claimed they hit it with two of their Neptune antiship missiles. The Russians claimed an ammunition handling mistake caused a fire onboard the ship. Either is quite possible as the Russian are notorious for their cavalier handling of munitions. The Russians admitted that the crew had to abandon the ship, which has to be a blow to their prestige.

They have two main products to sell the world which are extremely profitable.    Weapons systems and Oil.    Of course they are going to talk up their weapon systems like the used car sales people they are.    You'll notice throughout the world where Oil is produced, there is Russia with it's military.    Western intelligence analysts attribute this as a goal they have to control energy.   I think it is more a goal to influence the price of oil and keep it selling as high as possible by instigating conflicts in oil producing areas of the world.    They make a lot of money if they do that.....by selling weapons and selling oil at inflated prices.

Can't speak on the cyber security stuff as it will upset people so another third rail subject I have to tap dance around. :)

Fired from an onshore battery.   They invented and designed the Neptune system internally and initially it was thought the war would be over when deliveries from the lastest order started in April but.............nope.    They ordered enough of the missiles to sink most if not all of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Who would have ever thought that Coast Artillery would return?

"By many measures, the U.S. freight rail system is the safest, most efficient and cost effective in the world." - Federal Railroad Administration, October, 2009. I'm just your average, everyday, uncivilized howling "anti-government" critic of mass government expenditures for "High Speed Rail" in the US. And I'm gosh darn proud of that.

I am impressed they did this because all these years China has been threatening and spreading rumor and innuendo and hasn't demonstrated anything via so much as a live fire as far as I know.    These guys designed it fielded it and if the news is correct, hit a significant target.

Before this gets locked for whatever reason, I’d like to post this photo.
These are valiant defenders of liberty and freedom.  To these Ukrainians “Live Free or Die” is not a mere slogan, it’s a reality.  They have my upmost respect and admiration.

It all depends on what part of the world you live in.  Coast artillery didn't make sense here in the US post-WW2 so the organization was disbanded.  Obviously coast artillery in one form or another still has validity for some countries.
