Does anyone here like burnt toast? We had a crumby, cheap toaster when I was a kid. It burnt toast if you were not carful. Angry [:(!] We had to scrape the black stuff off into to trash before eating it. It took a while before I acquired a taste for toast in later years.

I'll have to make a scene on the model railraod layout of somebody scraping burnt toast. It may or may not be realistic, but the thought of doing that keeps this thread on topic. Smile [:)]

Maybe a "Hobo's campfire" with one of the "crusty" bums scraping his burnt toast off! LOL!

NORAD UPDATE-- Dateline Jan 1, 2008

It has been determined that "DARK TOASTER" failed to properly brake his rate of descent just past the moon, his Galactic Railway Gandy dancer must have still been malfunctioning, and with the combined graviational pull of the moon and the earth, he was thrown  back out past earth and is now reportedly headed for Mars!

Maybe he'll start the first galactic railway link onto Mars

People not far from TIMES SQUARE reported a bright objct in the sky and an observatory reported some jerk on a Galactic Gandy Dancer whizzing past the aerth, narrowly missing the International Space Station. The astronaut and cosmonauts on the space station said they could see a guy dressed in a dark long toast type coat, and a strange toaster helmet mask shaking his fists as he sped by!!!

So a disruption of New Years Festivities has been avoided!
It was reported  that Luke Slicewalker and Han Solotaost went outside at the New Years party they were attending, and lifted their drink glasses to the sky and wished "DARK TOASTER" a long Solar journey and back out into the galaxy. One astronoer said he thinks DARK TOAST will soon be chasing close behind Halley's Comet, so he shouldn't be back around for close to 60 plus years.

May we all raise our glasses to a toast of the New Year 2008 and lots of GREAT MRR'ing ahead!

Maybe I'll put a "Hobo" campfire scene on my own layout.I wonder where I can find or make a small plastic bread wrapper bag, remeber "Wonder Bread" from the Howdy Doody " show days?

Should be fun printing up a 1/87 scale bread bag with "Wonder Bread" on it and the Red, Yellow and Blue Dots on it.
Maybe one of my Hobos will look like Howdy Doody and another like "Buffalo Bob"

Hmmmm, "Wonder Toast" maybe even do up a "Wonder Bread" boxcar!
What a "Toasty" idea!

Brakie,

I think it's 2, maybe 3.
On my toaster 8 to 10 will provide a piece of toast as hard as a brick!

Yes I saw her at the grocery store, in the bread aisle, couldn't decide whether she needed wheat, rye, white, raisin, or pumpernickel to celebrate the new Year with LOL!

When I wired this toast I failed to isolate the motor from the frame:

...actually I don't know whose photo this is, but thank God it's not mine!  Can you imagine how bad that house had to reek after that???

Careful guys!!! At some point in time in the near future there will be an activist movement. It started with all the spagetti that was sacrificed in lousy layout designs and is gaining momentum with the bread being martyred in the "search" for the proper toaster settings.......

None of my limes will fit into the toaster and do not give off any light. Maybe somebody sold me Sublimes???

So now we have gone from the Sublime to the Ridiculous.

There might be a layout name in that!

I'll bet Dave's kitchen could be easily mistaken for a PRR M1 smokebox! LOL!

Sorry Dave, I couldn't resist!!! LOL!

I beleive it to be a baked on finish that guarantees adequate penetration of color

So that's how he does it!!!!

See Dave is staying quiet, guarding his secret painting methods from us! LOL!

I wonder if the "baking oven" is a DCC controlled toaster type and what the wattge and amperage it uses, also wonder if he can control it with a hand held throttle????

How about it Dave?

Serves him right for putting 11,000 volts through his catenary.

Dave, for the record I have not once accused or abused you or your lack of toasting abilitys. I only pointed out 2 things-

1- I think the paint was baked in and

2- the supporters of spaghetti and toast will rise up.

11,000 volts in the catenary? WOW! What scale is Dave running? Didn't know his PRR layout had any GG1's.They must run really fast!Anyone ever give any thought to the fact that GG1's look like GIANT TOASERS anyway?

I'd hate to pay Dave's electric bill!

Have a theory here....the thermal energy created by the toasting effort may be collected into a steam turbine connected to a generator powering the toasters which of course produces thermal energy.

I second your toast complaint.  I like my toast almost burnt, but my damned toster will only do slighty-warm.

David

That's because you're using that low-end toaster you bought at Toasters-R-Us.  See, if you upgrade to the high-end wireless toaster system, you wouldn't have these problems.

Besides, the high-end toasters allow you to operate like a real chef.  Run your toast, not your toaster!

Take your toaster over to Dave's layout and hook it up inline with his 11,000 volt  overhead catenary lines, and you'll DEFINETLY get almost burned toast!
See later in this thread Dave's own toast example that high voltage ( 11,000 volts) does the job! hee hee hee

GG1 toaster, you see, anyone who wants to make some good cash should start to think about stuff like that. think about it! put it on a pedistal with track, build the loco around a standard 2 slice toaster (as the cab) then use the pantograph to put the toast down.

the sad thing is that i am going to think about this for a long time and consiter making one out of brass for myself.
