Morning all!

Well I caught wind of something the other day- Athearn might be making the SP 4300 class 4-8-2s to go with their daylight cars! WOOOOO!

Besides that...

Well nothing really.

Later,

The doc agreed with me about the reaction I'm having. It's definately being caused by the drug that was prescribed. He instructed me to stop taking it then gave me a cortison injection to counteract the side effect and clear up the rash. It seems to be working because the rash is going away. He also instructed me to get come Benedryl, which I've done. I don't know, lately it just seems like I can't get an even break.

Good Afternoon Gents

BBQ was a success!! Fog no rain and cool enough to make enjoyable and relaxed.

Saying that the winds blew up last night to 35 kts out of the SW. Talked to my better half on the way in and the gales were downgraded for this morning's arrival...

What the heck do Weather People KNOW!!??!!

Gales out of the NW gusting to 40 kts. Right on my port beam. Saying that I took my time and layed her along side with no broken fingers, toes, frames or scratched paint. Not bad for parallel parking a 300', 4600 ton boat (comes with 4 ALCO's wouldn'cha know it). And yes thank goodness for rubber fenders.

Yes my 15 minutes of glory will soon end but hey I'll take it.

As for the weather  looking at the clouds and the temps you'ld think it was a cool October day, I kid you not.

Well nothing else on the MR side. Thanks John for the photo's if you can get them. Yes I thought the portholes were a grand idea as no one can reach in and hit you square in the face Big Smile [:D]

Later All

Good morning.  Coffee please.  I see that they got the font problem fixed.  All of my old posts are now giant.  Sorry.Sad [:(]

Paul,  I got an E-mail from Bob, the president of the Milwaukee Historical Society.  He said that they had not found documentation, but speculation is that it was for a future double tunnel.  I am still looking.

***Philip, that Sun dude is an old friend of mine who visits us here on the farm most days of the year. However, he can wear out his welcome when he won't let me outside for long and dries up all the H20. What we could use is a major tropical storm to get the creek flowing and water the pastures. Heck, I would take a tornado outbreak if it would just bring some rain with it.

Good morning, bright sunny day here, the Dew Point dropped to 50F, it is gorgeous here today...but wait, the battle of the fronts is just south of us, and will move north into southern NE tomorrow. So we will enjoy today, tomorrow will be showers, rain, heavy at times.

The Bronx, NY had a confirmed F2 tornado, they "can" hit cities.

J.R.: Get ready for tomorrow, flooding rains again for Connecticut!!!! Get the sand bags ready near your garage doors.

FERGIE: How did you BBQ go yesterday in the rain?

RYAN: Did you get into some spoiled food with all that heat and humidity that is a distinct possibility...watch out for foods with Mayonaise, and town water systems are very suspect this time of the year, lots of bacteria with all this heat. I sure hope you are feeling better today.

JEFF: You just can't get a break can you Jeff?? Now a reaction to the meds that are supposed to kill the pain in your leg!!!Sad [:(]

SUE: Looks like you and I have the best weather in the country at this point, I sure feel for PC, Mike, Cape Jim, Paul et al who are suffering day after day with this extreme heat and humidity.

DUKE: You will just have to come back east to ride 7470. Railfans weekend is in mid September this year, colors are great up in the Notch, and they should berunning 7470 up through the Notch. If you buy the weekend ticket, you can rise all the trains you want, all day Saturday and Sunday!!!

Later,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Diners! A fair breeze of wind today, and a good rain last night. Had to take the old brolly, (don’t y’know, what?), when walking Rosie-the-dog in the evening. Any way, the sun is now trying to come out,so that’s not all bad. Maybe I can shed the sweater I had to use earlier.

Paul:
I'll have to try and print it and use it for a back drop idea.
…I’ll email you the version with more definition. (it will not have the colour adjusted, but you can play with that. The original print had faded over the years, and I guessed a bit for the one I posted.

Duke:
John Where was the pic taken on Lake Huron?? Sure glad I reread Paul's post because it straightened me out on the type of boat.
…The original painting was done by an artist in Tobermory, Ontario, and is local, so that’s Lake Huron / Georgian Bay. The boat is local for that area, the upper works are quite distinctive for the Lake Huron fishery, but may be for more of the Great Lakes region as well. Very different from the Cape Islanders we see here every day.

Jeff: Here’s praying that the Drs can sort out the meds soon.Angel [angel]

Time to get the car in for service.

Good Morning, Zoe - Since it's V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N time, I'll have some Ed's OJ, cup of TH coffee, glass of milk and a stack of pancakes, please!

My boss was out most of yesterday (laying low?), in briefly yesterday afternoon, then left early so I didn't get a chance to talk with her. But before I left, I did take the records from one client (who'd been going to the VA and came to us wanting to see about seeing our psychiatrist) - all couple of inches of it - and put that stack (with a yellow sticky note asking "Is this not enough info for our Dr. to start with, and is a new assessment needed, really?") in her mail slot to see this morning when she comes in. I'll let her sit with that until I get back...Evil [}:)]

I may write some assessments (to get caught up on the more recent ones) over my vacation, but not this morning, for sure!

Jeff, get that medication taken care of by your doctor today. Nobody likes a rash, and yours doesn't sound like one to mess around with.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] (back), Carl, and thanks for the breakfast. Bet your weather out there is probably a bit warm, too.

Fergie, be sure to bring your ship in to the dock nice and easy - you don't want them taking it out of your paycheck since you're the Captain [4:-)].

Mark, good to hear you'll be able to get that Big Boy - Start saving up! Thumbs Up [tup]

Ryan, hope you get feeling better real soon (and remember how bad it feels, next time you're thinking about getting take-out from that place down the street...)

DerJohn, all you have to do to get that rain is like Fergie said - start up the BBQ grill; you'll get that rain really quick!

I think we might get some scattered showers this afternoon. But they're still talking 99 F for the high today, so I'm still going to get the car's A/C taken care of this a.m. Also need the haircut and some errands, then go by the LHS in town to see what he's got in new, and swing by Hobby Lobby (they have the 40 percent off coupon this week on their website) and see what they have I can use.  Then hide in some air-conditioned place for the hot part of the day.

Paul, watch yourself out there doing that w..k stuff! Hey, I thought you were an ORF? Confused [%-)] Wink [;)] Good that you got the umbrella for your tractor, at least.

Well, I'd better get going. See everyone later, and stay cool as possible. Prayers for safety for those who have to be out w..king in the heat, and for healing and comfort and peace for those in need.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Morning everyone!

Another hot, humid one today, though we might see a spot of rain later.

A heat advisory has been issued for much of Indiana again today from Noon until 8PM this evening. Temperatures will soar into the mid 90s this afternoon with heat indices from 102 to 108 degrees.  A cold front later will trigger scattered thunderstorms. There is a slight risk for severe weather this afternoon. A few of the storms may contain strong winds, hail and heavy downpours.  Once the front moves through this evening, skies will clear late tonight as slightly cooler and less humid air moves in for Friday and the weekend. Highs will only climb to near 90 degrees on Friday. We might break our string of 90s on Saturday as readings may only hit the upper 80s. On Sunday, another front may trigger a few spotty thunderstorms during the afternoon.  For right now though, it's not looking pretty!

That humidity is a KILLER!

Well, I'm off to work!

Jeff, hope the doctors visit goes well!

[Two friends and I took a bike trip into the UP last summer with intentions of making it to Copper Harbor but only got as far as Marquette. Saw the ore docks and had to get some pics for Paul.]

***Duke, were the ore docks even more impressive in person than in video/photos? I'm still amazed how small the train looked on top. I envy you that trip...cool!

***Paul, did you model those ore docks? Oh, and anytime you want to come over and bring your baler, give me a couple day warning and I'm have a pasture all cut and ready for you. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] (Wish they weren't so expensive...we spend a small fortune buying hay)

***Jeffrey, good luck finding the right med to help. Sometimes treatments or at least side effects are worse than the original problem.

Well, back to sleep here. Not ready to start a new day yet. Zzz [zzz] -Rob

Good morning.

I'm going back to the doctors office today. I'm covered in a very irritating rash. One of the serious side effects of the pain killer he put me on is a rash, so that's most likely the cause.

Looks like I'm going to see the doc tomorrow. I've got a rash covering me quick! I read the side effect warning for the pain killer they have me on and it says that a rash is a sign of serious allergic reaction.

Evening Gang: It was hot today. I hauled hay, hauled rock to the creek crossing and hauled brush that I had cut off the UP last month to the burn pile. No I didn't work real hard I did all this on each turn. On the way to pick up the hay bale I got a bucket of rock and carried it to the creek crossing. I dumped the rock and went up the other side of the crossing and got a bale of hay. I then carried it along to the place where I had the brush piled and got a bucket of brush. I carried this to the burn pile, dumped it and carried the hay bale to the storage yard. Repeat. The sun was beating down so a couple of stops for water and a cool down were made. I got about 8 bales moved before I pooped out. After that Mary Ann and I headed for town and I bought an umbrella top for the tractor. It was on sale for $59.95. Not bad. Mary Ann's tractor needs one also but hers costs $169. Her tractor doesn't have a roll over bar to mount to.

I hope that Fergie gets a break on docking the Hudson. Even docking a deck boat in a wind is a chore.

No MRRing today. I'm going to try and get my 7.5 diesel over to my friends shop so he can get it back together and running. It helps to have a locomotive to run every now and then.

I haven't been down to the basement in a while. I guess everything is still there.

Sue I still haven't found out anything about the double portal. I've run out of places to look here so I'll have to contact some friends and the Milw Rd Historical Society.

Der: Thanks for the picture of the fishing boat on Lake Huron. I'll have to try and print it and use it for a back drop idea. I really like the storm in the back round. That's typical Great Lakes.

Well I'll say;

 Good Night All

Good Evening All,

I'll just have a rootbeer float and a couple of dogs with the works please.Been a bit since I've been in but it's been busy. Still blazing hot but we're getting by. Doing preps for Grattan next week with the truck leaving Tues or Weds and I'm flying out Thursday. Need to check for LHS in the Grand Rapids area in case I get some time before the racing starts.

Duke - if you think you can come over to visit, let me know here or drop me an E-mail so we can work something out.

The CFO leaves tomorrow am for a seniors softball tournament in Ontario so she's bustling back and forth packing. This is a new adventure for her following her trip to Bowling Green earlier this year for a national seniors tournament. I guess if I can race vintage cars it's ok for her to play vintage softball.  Of course she's already trying to recruit some of the better women she played fastpitch A with so she can put together a full team of "ringers".

Sorry to hear we're going through another rough health patch here in the diner. My prayers for those ailing or in need.

Still beavering away on the DPM buildings a bit a night. Went to the museum last night and worked on the Npossible gauge again. No major pileups this week, but the freight cars were misbehaving again with one siezing an axel in it's truck. Many of the wheel sets seem too loose in their bearings even if they are the ones the cars came with. On a positive not, the ConCor passenger consist is running well behind the DL-109 and the new ProtoN PA in New Haven green/orange delivery scheme runs as well as it looks. If we can just get the trains to behave for a week, we can go back to doing scenery.

Well, gotta run, lots to do yet tonight and I'm running out of time. CUL,Big Smile [:D]J.R.

Diners: 90% probability of rain, the same that wiped out Fergie’s BBQ, but so far it hasn’t started, and it was forecast as a pretty much all day event! We could use the rain (sorry Fergie).

Garry and Rob: Sorry for the mix up over the “Southern” coffee mug. I was posting from the “Reply” button rather than from WORD, and so couldn’t flip back to see what was on the page in the Diner.

Frank:

I think it is the worst thing to build houses and other buildings on old right of ways. Unfortunately it only happens all too often. Just a total lack of foresight, turn these old right of ways into hiking trails for everybody to enjoy and in the future it can still be revitalized to run trains.
…Glad you enjoyed Cape Bretton. Come on back, and next time, when you’re done, come down the Eastern Shore by taking the Highway #7 at Antigonish. There’s an N Scale layout just east of Sheet harbour that hasn’t had a Diner visitor yet. (OK, Teffy came by a few years ago, but that was in Coffee Shop days!) I agree, BTW, about the rights of way, and that they should be retained as trails rather than built on. I expect that the British Columbia Tourism people rue the day that the B.C. government allowed the track etc to ripped out of the Kettle Valley line. What a tourist trap that would be for railfan trips if they had left it alone!

Chuck and Kathy: Here’s praying that the temp pacemaker becomes bearable quickly, and unnecessary altogether, even!

Jim: that’s not funny, having wrongly filed w**k dumped on your desk just before vacation. Here’s hoping you are able to relax when you do get “free”.

Fergie: Welcome Home, BTW. This was a shorter trip than the last one, wasn’t it? The portholes are a great idea for that “Tank” model. I’ve got to take the car in for servicing tomorrow, and will try for the photos then. “poetic license” is what the place needs, the liquor license hasn’t been anything but trouble for them, thanks to the yahoo element……now they are out of business.

Ryan: If it’s not too close to home, there’s a saying “This too shall pass”! Hope it’s true for you too!

Rob:

and having a few N trains sitting under the computer monitor
…You too eh? I’ve had by Bud cars there for about 6 months or more waiting until I can get both the cash and a trip to the LHS together at the same time to order another decoder to replace the one that handed in it’s dinner pail all that time ago.

That’s seen the afternoon away, but still no rain. I could have done more concrete w**k after all. Oh well, it’ll keep. Hasn’t Ed a word for that?

Since Carl's buying, I'll have a Carl's Coffee in a Southern mug, please and thank you.

It's 99F here today so will finish the rest of the critter chores towards evening.

Healing thoughts to all in need...which seems like most of you/us lately.

Visiting the forums, taking a quick peek at some train cams, and having a few N trains sitting under the computer monitor is how I get a daily fix until I can begin work on the future layout.

I've been under sick call the past few days. I could not hold anything down and got dehydrated from everything coming out of both ends! Yuck! Dead [xx(]

The clear liquid diet is helping, but my appetite seems to be getting better every day.

Dinner last night was chicken broth and crackers with a ginger ale. Then some cherry Jell-O for dessert. The same for today.

We think it was a case of food poisoning from the China Buffet down the street.... Question [?]

Best to all!

Morning already?  Does it have to be?

Man, TOUGH day yesterday.  I hate days like that.  At least it's hot as all getout outside though!  (said with tongue firmly planted in cheek)

Well, it's gone up 3 degrees in the last 10 minutes, so if thats a sign of things to come, it's going to be hot today!

Right Now: 82F (Feels like: 87F)  Forecast:  Hi 96  Lo 76

Throw in the high humidity and you've got the makings for one HOT day!

Might get some rain later in the week, we'll see.  For now........

Guess I'd best get to it.

Later
