Oh calmdown I only missed placed 2 letters and yes I did know that Maine was part of Mass. untill 1820 when it became the 23rd state.       On the subject of the MNGRR's rent issue. The MNGRR release an article that was in the Portland Press Herald stating the Narrow Gauge RR could become no-more un-less that rent is paid. The 'Master Plan' was that by getting this article into the paper people will become aware that this valuble treasure of Maine railroad history, and generaly a part of Maine's tranportation history could be lost forever, and genetate public interest in the Narrow Gauge, and hopefully increase monthly ridership   and profit generated by people either donating, riding the train, buying merchandce in the meusum, and by hosting large event's like the recent Muggle Fest wich the Narrow Gauge was paid a down payment of $3,200.00 to have the Hogwarts Express pulled by Monson #4 (0-4-4), and the up comming National Narrow Gauge Convention Aug 29. through noon on Sept. 1st.

BTW. We like the hobby (obsession for others) of Railroading, but being the NYY fan I am. Boston will have to wait a nother 86 years for a World Series Title either being beat by the NYY or some other team. Tampa Bay Devil Rays you don't have to worry about.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and JIM for the cake!

I'll have a slice of the cake and a coke please chloe.

I offically turn 13 at 4:22 PM Pacific time.

Later on the family will come over and we'll have a party, and maybe there will be TWO new engines sitting in my invisible non-existant roundhouse. Or maybe a couple cymbals. Those are fun too.

Grayfox: I was saving up for the BLI blueline one once it was announced in late may, and P2K doesn't make one. They do make a Y3 2-8-8-2, which is somewhat close.

Hey PIE CONSUMER! I brought some PIE, just for you. And some for whoever wants it.

Thanks all, gotta run now.

Hey y'all. Cowboy [C):-)]

I had a really long post going...But then for whatever reason, my browser went back a page and my post was lost. So I'm gonna sum it up real quick.

Nothing new to report with NS. Still waiting for medical records. Hopefully I'll get them soon, or else I'll keep bugging them about it. I can't wait to start and head off to Georgia for training. I'll get to meet Rob and see a town I've always wanted to. And I really need the money...

I've been working with my best friend of 10 years. It looks like I'm makin' an N scaler out of him. We'll be moving furnature around to give him space for a layout which we are currently planning for him.

Fergie and Garry: My thoughts and prayers for both of you and both of your families. Keep strong.

And I do believe a Happy B-Day [bday] is in order for MARK!

I'm out y'all. Cowboy [C):-)]

Good morning, cloudy here today so far, but it is supposed to clear by noontime, still very cool here so far for August. Just waiting for the Stove installers to show up, they are due any minute.

MIKE: That is good news for Pellet purchases, if the price stays put, but with the number of users increasing every year, I wouldn't wait too long to make your 2007/08 purchase Mike, the prices could spike quickly if we get an early cold wave this Fall. That stream looks so picturesque, what a beautiful spot!!!

J.R. : Listen, you have to drive the car back home right? You will be taking the Mass Pike right? You will be getting off the Pike at I-84 exit right? So drive west on route 20 after you exit the Pike, take route 148 north, and just after you pass under the Mass Pike overpass, look for Warren road on the left, it should be the first or second road on the left, it takes you into Warren. The drive is only about 20 minutes.....isn't that worth the side trip to Tuckers Hobbies ??!!!Smile [:)]

ED: From the satellite view this morning, it looks like you will take a direct hit from Dean, but the winds are down to CAT1, and the tidal surge will be very small, however, the area is very mountainous where you are as you obviously know, so the higher elevations will wring out copious amounts of water from the tropical clouds. Flooding will be a major issue as water roars down the small streams from the mountainsides.

Good Morning, Zoe, a cup of coffee to go, please. Oh yeah, and I brought something for Mark's Happy B-Day [bday] today:

Yes, Mark, it is too many candles - but we needed three tiers on that cake to have enough for everyone. Half the cake is yellow cake, and half is devil's food cake, so everyone should be able to get what they like. Dinner [dinner] Make a wish and blow out the candles, birthday fella! Thumbs Up [tup]

Good Morning All,

Just a regular to go please. Off to Boston this morning to check out and hopefully pick up a car for one of our drivers. No Dick, no side trip to Tuckers is in the works - sorry, you'll just have to accept those third quarter losses.

worked at the museum again last night, fixed a couple of gauge problems with the Invisible display and seem to have cured some of the problems. At least it all ran for the time we were there. Lots to do and gotta run.  CUL, J.R.

Good evening, getting ready for the installation of a Jotul wood stove tomorrow to replace the Pellet stove which is now over at son #2's house. With the cost of Pellets rising too much each year, and I have a multi year supply of wood with hardwood forest in the back, this was a no brainer for someone on fixed income. The guys will be here at 8 and this install will require a hole in the roof to run the pipe straight up.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

While I've communicated with a few of you by email regarding us and Hurricane Dean, I suppose I ought to issue a general post so you have some idea how the Orange Grove will fare.

While the hurricane is forecast to come through here tomorrow, we're staying. It lost a lot of strength passing over the Yucatan Peninsula (as it was bound to do) and is down to a Cat 1. It's time over the Gulf will be so short that it's unlikely to build up past a Cat 2 or 3, if that. We're about 9 miles inland from the coast (the city itself is 6 miles up the river from the Gulf), and slightly higher, so no danger from tides, waves or storm surge. Our house is solid masonry, concrete frame and roof, solid brick walls (not brick veneer). We have gas for cooking (stationary tank), utility water (large tank on roof), plenty of potable water, food, etc. About our only concern would be the possible loss of power, but at Cat 1-3 even that shouldn't be serious or prolonged, if it happens at all. Oh, yeah, and I could lose the phone line and my internet connection. That would be serious.

No rain or wind yet (we spent some time securing loose items), but we expect to see rain start sometime tonight, and wind tomorrow morning.

This latest track from the National Hurricane Center has the storm crossing the coast almost exactly where we are. (Just in case you wondered where I live.)

I'll let you know how things go.

Best regards

Ed

Evening, I'll have some ice tea Cleo

Had a hot humid day and another is forecast for tomorrow. One weather guesser said this morning we had 68% humidity, dew point of 74 and an air temp of 75, with a heat index of 80, that was at 5:30 am.

JEFF,, your gonna wear that camera out, you keep going.

DUKE,, that is some garden layout that guys has there. I've enjoyed all the pics.

ROB,,,,thats all real. My modeling skills are not anywhere near that good. The collapsible tank works bout the same as those collapsible drinking cups you use to see around.

These two pics were shot from the truck. I seen this one on the east side of the river, the one still BN green

These UP's were headed east for the river bridge

These next two are from the lookout on a hilltop in Maramec Springs Park, where we were fishing.

Bout it for now, need a shower, got Leroy n KC at 5 in the morning. Tomorrows Leroy's first full day of kindergarten and he's riding the bus from here. Hope ya'll has a gooden.

Evening Gang: Not much MRRing today as usual. I've got to make a concerted effort to get to the basement or to work on the 7.5. Mary Ann's wash/pump house is coming along great. the wiring is complete and the insulation is in. We went in and picked up the stuff to spray on the ceiling and got some paint chips for her to fuss over. I'll be glade when it's over so that I can stop feeling guilty for not doing it myself. Of course this way it's actually getting done.

This Friday is a work day over at the 7.5 track at my friends, Saturday we'll do some running. I guess that I'll be the sole representative for the live steam group at the show at Clark Gardens on the 8,9 of September. Everyone else is tied up. I may be able to get John and Michael to help out. I'll take my steamer and a gondola, side dump car and track. I'll be able to run on compressed air.

Dick the old expression "If it an't broke don't fix it" comes to mind.

Hoople: I see the waiting has payed off. Enjoy.

Well I guess I'll head out.

Rob: Shhhhhhhhh. If she doesn't know don't say anything. Ignorance is bliss for you.

I HAS A BIG BOY!!!

Or enough money for one, actually. Yesterday, two birthday cards came in, containing $80 total. I now have $368.76, almost a $100 more than needed.

On the other side, tommorow is my birthday. One wonders what will come.

Windham (NEWS CENTER)-- Train Service Between Fryeburg And Portland?
Web Editor:  susan kimball, reporter   Created: 8/21/2007 3:13:44 PM Updated: 8/21/2007 3:54:21 PM

Some say its time to revive the old Mountain Division Rail Line that runs from Portland to Fryeburg, passing through towns like Windham, Westbrook, Baldwin and Hiram.

State Senator Bill Diamond (D-Windham) sponsored a bill that will fund a feasibility study for the proposal. That study will begin this month. Diamond says the main objective for the rail line would be to carry freight but that passengers--including commuters--would also be part of the picture. He says the feasibility study will help determine how many businesses and people would actual use the train and how much work needs to be done to upgrade the tracks.
The study is expected to be completed by December.
The last passenger train made its run on the Mountain Division Railroad in 1956. Back in 1915, the train made the fifty mile trip from Portland to Freyburg nine times a day.

As this being on my home turf, I hope train service is reastored, so that our Massachuttes friend and take the train from Boston to Portland, then to Fryburge. For the Fryburge Fair.

(Maine Railroad fans, admirers, and Fanatic(s) = me. are excited)
