More thunder, no rain. Finished out the front coat closet. Might start tiling the kitchen tomorrow. So much little stuff left to do and little time to do it in. No rest for the wicked!

Sorry, Most of my photos have the wrist strap from the phone.  The best one you can't see the stack or top of the loco.Sad [:(]

We saw the movement around the steam train yard and went down to check it out.  Apparently, it was a special trip.  The conductor saw our interest and asked if we wanted to ride over to the engine shed.  It was about 5 minutes, but we had not even considered that as an option.

Sue

I guess that I am buying.  Anyone for huckleberry cheesecake?

Jim: I remove all the windows and lenses before stripping and/or repainting. The window glass can usually be pried out quite easily. Headlight lenses can sometimes be a bit more cantankerous and sometimes have a habit of flying off into that hard to reach area in the room. I use no masking on the models. All my painting is freehand.

Oh, yeah - my lady friend who I was going to help with the daughter's Yahoo IM problems? The daughter and a friend of hers figured it out already before I'd called. Jeff, that's a close fit there! Shock [:O] Question for you - do you mask the windows on your P2K engines before you paint them (and what do you use for masking), or remove them (and how hard is it to take them out)? Since I have a few P2K engines I will need to re-paint, I'd like to hear from you (and others) on best way(s) to handle the repainting. I've already seen some of the posts in the main forums on stripping the old paint, etc., so won't rehash everything, but...

Morning!

Nice and cool here. Just awaiting tommorow to order a said big boy and challenger.

I'm going for Black/Graphite #3958 on the challenger, and Black/graphite #4017 big boy.

Cederstrand: It is possible... I have right now a 2-8-0, 4-8-2, 4-8-4, and E9. The 4-8-2 isn't working, and the 4-8-4 just has issues. I also have 3 others... but I never run them becuase there complete and total junkers.

Basically It's a two train party over here.

Gottcha! Thumbs Up [tup]

Is it even possible to have a loco roster of only 3 and still have fun?

The original version of the Autumns Ridge Railway & Navigation Co. layout had only an 0-4-0 to switch a small yard and an ancient 4-4-0 to haul tonnage with.  It kept me busy for a few years.

Keep thinking of selling off some additional older locos, so I can add a few more from my short wish list. So far, comparing more recent aquisitions to those I've let go, I have no regrets. I keep thinking how much nicer the detailing is on the locos being produced now, compared to most of my vintage stuff. Oh what to do, what to do??? Has anyone else had this dilemma?

Only all of the model railroaders that hang out here.  The other folks, not so much!

Prayers for Fergie's family, Gerry's family, and all those others in need of the hand of God in their lives!

I'll have to think a minute on that one, Rob, but my first inclination would be no. After all, you need at least one switcher, plus a freight engine for the local, another for the main (make that two, westbound and eastbound), another for passenger service, and... Wink [;)]

Rob, usually my dilemma has been that I don't have enough My 2 cents [2c]My 2 cents [2c] available for my short list. Evil [}:)]Wink [;)] Good that you got some rain in your area (especially for your thirsty horses).

RT, good to see you around again. How's the job hunting progressing? Hopefully, improving.

More excellent photos, Jeff - I like that one of the truck dock. Thumbs Up [tup]

Sue, nice pic of the 2-8-2, and I bet it was fun to catch a ride on it, too!

Ed, I can imagine how you feel about being without power (and a/c). Does your place get much in the way of breezes, at least? Don't think it would be tolerable if you didn't and the a/c was out.

Well, I'd best get myself going. This afternoon, I'm supposed to help a woman from one church singles small group (and her 14 year old daughter) get some problems with Yahoo IM and MSN IM clients (not connecting) w..ked out. Smile [:)]

Blessings on your Sunday endeavors,

Evening Gang: I just got in from the track. I left John there and he was getting ready to make his last run. All in all it was a good day except that an axle on one of my gondolas froke as we were leaving the yard. I dropped the car on one of the yard tracks and John took the train with Mary Ann and his wife on for the run. I took the truck off and have it in my pick-up along with a flat car that has a loose wheel. Both problems are fairly easy to fix.

It's late so I'd better say,                                                                                         Good Night All

Looks like Jeffrey is buying.  He has definately been the most active lately.

Friday, Larry and I got to ride on a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-2 while they dropped  the passenger cars.

We showed up as they just finished a special trip.

Transfered lots of caught rain water to pasture troughs this evening. Thunderstorms boomed on both sides of our valley for several hours, but no rain. Perhaps tomorrow.

Sending healing thoughts to those in need.

Oh that's not even close to the extent of my motive power, but it wouldn't kill me to have more ya know!  I'm all steam in N scale.  I've got a decent sized layout to fill, so there is a fairily healthy roster for it.  That's just all I have of that loco.  And when I got them, 2 of the 3 were slightly out of guage.  The other was fine.  It wasn't hard to fix at all.  An NMRA guage and a little patience and you're good!  And when you get it, they run great out of the box, but I have a large test loop and I ran each on them for 2hrs at medium speed forward and 2hrs medium speed backwards and they settled right in and are a real honey to run now.  They just get better the more you use them.

Good Afternoon Coffee Clubbers

Power was out again today (from about 0930 until 1730).  I'm led to believe thatthey were making repairs somewhere in the area.  But the way they have (or don't have) the local distribution system sectioned, they had to take down a rather large area of homes in order to do the work.  No warning or notice, just at about 0930 bam!  Down she went.

Obviously I missed the internet connection.  But what was worse was no power for a/c or even fans.  And it was a mite toasty today. Ah yes, but I suppose that's a minor inconvenience compared to what some have to bear.  But being a 60 year old curmudgeon, I'm allowed at least one good gripe a day.

I love my Spectrum 2-8-0.  It's a great machine.  Looks great and pulls equally well.  I did have to return mine to Bachmann to get it regauged.  It was too narrow, and had a lot of problems going through switches.  Came back quickly and works well.

 JimRCGMO wrote:
Anyone heard from Fergie lately? I might have missed it, but didn't think he's been in here in a bit of a while.

Unless I got it wrong, his father, Art, passed away early in the week.  Other than posting a quick note here regarding that, I suspect he's been occupied.

I'd give you guys a weather report, but I bet you all realize that it's HOT down here.  Was like that last week, will be like that next week.  Cool [8D]

I better run before they cut the power again.

Just one last thing, "How 'bout them Boston Red Sox!!!"
