Hi Gang:

Garry: I printed out the information and will give it to Terry.

Not much today in MRRing. Mary Ann and I spent the afternoon with our lawyer about the Pit. I guess we will be sueing over it. Right now I'm all tensed up and really just want to hide out for a bit. I'll check in later tonight. Maybe I'll feel better then. Maybe I'll try a shot of MRRing.

and if you're out of rootbeer, an orange float will do just fine also. Please & Thank You!

Caught an old "The Addams Family" today (episode: "Lurch's Little Helper") and saw a neat little train wreck. Leave it to Gomez to take model RRing to the extreme.

Good Evening, Chloe - I see I picked the purrrrfect time to come in (right after PC hit the TOTP!). Smile [:)]  Think I'll have the sirloin steak - medium - with baked potato and brocolli, please, and a glass of milk.Dinner [dinner]

Yep, I'll have a slice of apple pie with some vanilla ice cream on the top, too.

Thanks, PC! Yeah!! [yeah] (Guarding the pie as he slips past PC...) Hmm, might even have my dessert first.Wink [;)]

Hang in there on the Pit, Paul. Can you sic the EPA on the UP, and let them cover more of the lawyer tab? Just a thought for you.

Think I'd better be working on my (late) dinner for now - almost time to head for home and bedtime. Didn't look at the clock when I came in here. But I'll finish off my dinner before I go, for sure.

Blessings and prayers for those in need of them tonight,

Mornin, steak n eggs with a side of grits and coffee Zoe.

Sunny with highs in the upper 80's today and through the next few days, looks like the AC will be running up the bill again.

RYAN,, enjoyed the update on the roundhouse projects. They'll be no Santa duties for me; I don't like Christmas anymore, Not for what it's suppose to stand for, but what it's become. I've already had words with a store manager on putting out decorations in the middle of August including Xmas trees. Mother said she just can't take me anywhere anymore.

Texas STEVE,,I'll try n keep not think any different of you, since my BIL is a lawyer too.

DICK,, we've got 4 trees to take down this fall, one a dying soft maple. I've lost 5 maples in a couple years now, they just start dying from the top down.

JIM CG,, the families short, moms 4'10" and see my post to Ryan on the Xmas duties.

JERRY,, still don't know on Rockome yet. Still waiting to see how the money and some other things play out. If we do it'll be on Saturday, got kids football Sun..

PAUL, hope you get the pit settled soon, so your mind will rest easier. Things like that can wear hard on ya at times.

Best got moving, Leroy will be here afore long. Good thing is when he catches the bus, no kids till Monday, bad thing is, I've got too much to get done, starting with Mother's oven, it's acting up now. Hope ya'll has a gooden an stay safe

Mornin' all!

Back to normal (whatever that is) today!  FINALLY!  Yesterdays doctor visits are over and I'm back to work today.  I'm likin' it!

Looks like a nice day out there too!  The final few days of summer will end up warm and dry with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Our normal high is now 76 degrees. High pressure should dominate the weather through the weekend. Temperatures as of 5am this morning range from 70 degrees in Indy to 59 degrees in Bloomington. You might encounter a little patchy fog and haze for awhile.

Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, a cup of that TH coffee, and one of those donuts, please. Thanks!

Looks like we're going to be warmer today than Inch or PC will have up their way. Supposed to reach the low 90's by this afternoon, but it was a little foggy this morning - had to wipe the dew off the car windows. Still in the 50's or low 60's in the evenings, so that's not bad. But as Inch said, will have to use the air conditioner a little more at home.

Time for me to finish my coffee and get back to the w-thing. See you all later!

Blessings,

Jerry,  You're doing N scale if memory serves me right, correct?  If so, look for Bachmann Harriman cars.  They've been discontinued for years, but Ebay has them from time to time and you can get them at train shows and swap meets too.  They're about 65' long, so they take up less real estate.  Here's some I picked up for like $3 a car.

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/N%20Scale%20Trains/WGH%20Show%202007/Picture023.jpg

If my memory is messed up and you model another scale, just ignore my ramblings and meaningless dribble.

Good afternoon everyone......another banner day here in New England, 77F, clear blue sky, 46% Rh, DP is 55F...just ideal !!!

I have almost all the Strawberry runners set out in new isles, now if I can just keep the deer out of the garden they can take good root for next June's crop. Every night at dusk, 2 doe and 1 fawn visit the pear tree for droppings, of course they walk all through the garden.

That is the same tree that we have trouble with Mike, they are called "Silver" Maples or "Soft" Maples. We have one completely dead, never had a leaf this Spring, 4 more are all dying from the top down. It seems that when they get to about 60 to 75 feet, they don't get enough water at the root tips, so the tree starts dying. These trees typically live along streams and waterways and marsh areas, and are also known as "swamp" maples. There sure as hell aren't any swamps up on my property, as I am on a hill at 1000 feet elevation. Saturday, we are taking one of them down that has a free fall away from the house, the other two need a boom lift, which we will rent next month for $210 to limb the trees first, as they are far too dangerous to fall on the house. Tree Service people want $500 to as much as $1000 a tree to take them down. For $210 renting the power bucket lift, we can take them down safely ourselves.

OK, time to get back outside, see you guys at supper time.

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Cut a section out of the car and shorten it to suit your space.  That would be what I would do.  Well, maybe I wouldn't actually do it, knowing how much of a procrastinator I am, but that's what I would think about doing......   Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

You may be interested in these pictures I took in 2003 at British Railway Museum.  An employee escorted me through the shop where the were getting their decades-old replica of the original steam loco ready to operate in 2004 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first locomotive. Richard Trevithick built the first locomotive in 1804. The horse "locomotive" is from that era. The streamlined steamer is the Mallard, the world's fastest steam locomotive.  They have a huge collection in York, England where the museum is located. I saw workers in white coats cleaning Stephanson's "Rocket".

Shelley and I were on a trip in September of 2003.  We saw the Cutty Sark in London, and I heard the recent news that the old ship burned a few months back, and that was sad to hear.

Strong Coffee in a ATSF mug, please and thank you!

***Ed, I'm affraid I resemble that remark: [Well, maybe I wouldn't actually do it, knowing how much of a procrastinator I am] Then again, if I didn't have an overwhelming amount on my "must do" list all the time, maybe I would actually get around to more of the projects I would "like to do".

***Garry, those are some neat photos from the British Railway Museum. Thanks for posting them.

Nothing worth sharing presently. Rob

I don't think she's a total loss.  She was undergoing a major overahul and most of her rigging, masts, above deck structures, and some planking had been removed.  She has a metal frame in any case.  News is scarce, but appears that the organization that sponsors her is into fund raising for repair and continuing with the original overhaul.  See also:

Evening Gang: I mowed under Mary Ann's favorite pecan tree today. The rag weed was 10 ft tall and loaded with pollen. Some of them sounded like I was hitting small trees when the mower hit them.

Jimcg: The UP dosen't have anything to do with the pit. It is bythe company that drilled the gas well. We've had everyone including the local EPA involved but since it's a fresh water pit no one can help.

Garry: Thanks for the pictures of the museum. Very interesting.

Well I'm going to go eat supper and shower.

Rob... glad you liked it.

Ed .... thanks for Cutty Sark link. It could have been worse, I suppose, but it's still very sad.

Tyler ..... Yes, it's really quite a museum. It alone is worth the entire trip across the Atlantic. The train ride between London was really something, too. Swooooooooosh! It was a fast train! (Feel free to stop in the diner often, Tyler.)

Paul ..........also glad you were interested....

Evening, Diners (those still up, anyway)! Chloe, a cup of decaf, please.

W**k today wasn't too bad - we didn't have anyone come to walk-in, surprisingly. One crisis client, and when I talked with their Dr., he said to bring 'em down to the office (& he saw them). Only a few phone calls to deal with, so got a fair amount of paperw**k taken care of. Yeah!! [yeah]

Warm afternoon, but not stifling hot. Bearable, pretty much, when I went home for lunch. One thing more could improve the day - if the Cards would win, but so far, they're behind the Astros (for now). Sad [:(] C'mon, Cardinals!

Paul - so the Pit was done by a private company, if I'm understanding you correctly? Bummer! Maybe you could get your area's TV station to do a 'local safety hazard and eyesore' piece on it, and create enough bad publicity to shame the company into cleaning it up? Guess I'm still trying to come up with a way to get them to fix it without you having to spend much/any of your own money. Hope I'm not stirring things up too much when you're trying to get to sleep (or hopefully, you're already in bed and won't see this until the morning).

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful day here in Paradise.  Cool [8D]  We headed back out to the orange grove to do a bit of routine maintenance work.  Didn't get as much accomplished as we had hoped for, as the rains came down on us in mid-shift.  Just as well as it was really hot and humid.

I'll be off line for a couple of days.  Fran and I are heading up to Mexico City for a naughty weekend.  Big Smile [:D]  Okay, not really, but we do need a dose of civilization after being back here in town over a month.  We leave on the midnight bus tonight.  Too bad it wasn't the midnight Pullman.  But buses down here are nothing like they are up in the states.  The particular line that we are taking tonight is a luxury one.  They have 3 across seating (2+1), the seats recline waaay back, and of course are much wider and more comfortable than airline seats.  Only 8 rows of seats.  We'll wake up tomorrow morning in Mexico City.  We should be back Sunday evening.  While I may check in during the trip, I don't expect to be posting.

Just hold the fort until we get back.

Hasta luego,

Ed
