I've come to the conclusion that I hate painting handrails. There's twenty million corners! It's almost as bad as painting lattice.

in a ATSF mug, please & thank you!

***Ryan, nice pits. At what point does one stop changing the layout (tracks) and enjoy what they have already built? Looks like reasonable changes from this amatures perspective.

***JR, looks like you got plenty accomplished on the layout. Cool looking structures.

Got the Tetanus shot, so y'all should be stuck with me a while longer. I'll be in the corner booth with my feet up, drinking coffee. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Good morning.  Coffee, please.

We have another nice day.  It should be in the mid 50's.

Ryan,  I am impressed you even did the pits on the RH.  Thumbs Up [tup] I just painted ours black.  It will be dark enough that the pit would never show.

Later,  Sue

Morning all!

Cool this morning, but not as chilly as yesterday.

Man, I'll tell you what, I've just got to start getting to bed earlier.  I am one tierd pup this morning.  I am really draggin'!

Got lots to do this weekend to get ready for the big week next week.  To top it off, my son has his first basketball game tomorrow.  Due to his disabilities he's not real good (just being honest) but hopefully he'll get some gametime.  That would make his day big time.  He's just excited that he's on the team, but actual gametime would just be over the top!  (I hope and pray he gets put in, even if it's just for a few plays!)

Inch, not going to make it to the show.  See the paragraph above for the reason.

J.R., LOOKING GOOD!!!  It's really getting that busy, downtown look.

So what's up with you all?

Good morning. I am finally going to tackle my layout table demo. I have been saying that I can't do anything MRR related due to a slightly messy room. What I meant was I was a little too lazy to do it...so now I am going to get started (after SchCensored [censored]l of course!) This may also mean that my future FA-1 may have to be put off until after christmas ($$$).

 JimRCGMO wrote:

Welcome back, Gryphon and CPRail! Hey, weekend's coming and you guys can get back to the MRR'ing again. Yeah!! [yeah]

Uhh...not really. I am VERY busy this weekend. I could make a list, but that would take a while. I think I'll try to sqeeze in a bit of MRRing (get the layout ready for demo(yeah, I know, I've been holding it off...alotSmile [:)]))

Since I already ate, I'll pass for ordering

Good Morning, Zoe - a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll, if you have any left. Thanks!

Fergie, good question on RT's whereabouts. Last I heard, I think he was job-hunting in the new town and either had found something or had good prospects of a job. But I could be off on that... We'll hope he's just been busy working, maybe. Would be nice to know, if anyone can fill us in. Congrats on the Mountain  loco and the new signals, too. Which signals did you go with?

Welcome back, Gryphon and CPRail! Hey, weekend's coming and you guys can get back to the MRR'ing again. Yeah!! [yeah]

Colby, put me down for a couple of years Jr. ROTC in high school (military academy) and one year of drill team my freshman year of college.

JR, I'd agree with Inch and Sue - your buildings look great, even if you think you want to do some more work on them. Wink [;)] Keep up the good work on those!

Time for me to head on out - but it's Friday!! See all of you later.

Blessings,

Morning dudes and duedettes!  Big Smile [:D]

Another day of rain, I know, drove through it the whole way into work this morning. YES! Hope it continues as predicted until tomorrow! Yeah!! [yeah]

And I see some of you were up late last night, heck I fell asleep watching game 2 of the WS....

And speaking of the WS, Boston Red Sox pulled out another win from under their hats last night! Now it is off to the Mile High city for game 3, maybe I can stay up for all of that one!

Duke - Now...now...you're being a bit modest eh! Hey, I think breakfast is just about ready and some of Ed's OJ has just been squeezed..... Dinner [dinner]

Dave - Have a safe trip up to Penn State! And thanks for all your service duties you have provided for the good ole US of A!

Philip - Prayers continue for you and your family! Angel [angel]

Colby - Mighty bright and handsome you are there in the uniform, and thanks for the videos too! Thumbs Up [tup]

Nice photo of the BNSF there J.R., and your progress shots are great! Is that one of those background backdrops you can order online?

Ouch Rob! Hope your foot is healing now, and best to get that Tetanus shot like the wife said, better to be safe than sorry! Black Eye [B)]

 JimRCGMO wrote:

Ryan, excellent pics of your roundhouse work, and I'm sure getting the fascia mounted feels good. I forgot - did you put the inspection pits in all the roundhouse stalls, or just some of them?

Jim - Actually only 4 of the 6 stalls have inspection pits in them, my original plan was to install 6 pits but it would have required too much work to pull up the plywood base sub-roadbed to cut them all out. The two stalls that did not get pits installed were due to one of the joists running directly under that section of plywood base. The pits were an after thought and I made the 4 cuts for the pits in place. Here is a photo of the 6 tracks and 4 pits just after I attached the cork sheets that will provide the base for the sheet styrene that will resemble the concrete flooring.

Mike - Thanks! And I see that BNSF is all over the place, nice pic too!

I added a double crossover switch to the layout plan and I like the look of it on paper. It allows for more flexibility in switching out of the classification yard and provides through traffic for either direction and for either the inner or outer main line loops.

The new design will necessitate the requirement to cut some of the existing track and a switch as well, but should not be too much trouble. This plan seems to correlate with prototype track schemes and for appearance sake will add an element that is currently missing on the layout.

The hard part now is to find an in stock item for a #6 Code 83 HO nickel silver double crossover switch. An email to Kim at Train Buddy is pending a reply at this time. As you can see from the image above (click image for a larger view) the double crossover will allow dispatchers to route through traffic on either side of the double crossover allowing for both east/west bound and incoming/outgoing traffic activity. This also gives the classification yard switcher more opportunity to make up consists and avoid fouling the main line.

I think it makes more sense that way, Space Mouse (aka Chip) made the suggestion in another post and I like the way it looks more prototypical!

Cheers,

Ryan

Good Morning All,

A regular, o.j. and a short stack of bluebery pancakes please Zoe. Loading trailers this morning to deliver tomorrow. It's a bit chilly out but the rain has stopped for now. It's always nice to finish up jobs and see the cars go back.

inch - I don't have your touch on the moving pics, but the shot i did get was while driving solo mid morning. The second one was blocked by a truck on a side road.

Well, lots to do today and I need to get after it. CUL, J.R.

Just me again. Here are a couple of progress photos of the industrial area on the layout. The last of the backround factories is started and a couple of the DPM strucures are trial fitted. Feels like not much to show for a summers work but i did run trains a couple of times.

All for now, gotta get some sleep.   Big Smile [:D]J.R.

Coffee refill, please & thanks.

***Jim, I've had this one wart on the sole of my foot for almost ten years now and I keep it from spreading (much) with regular use of razors & Wart-off. Not a cure, that's for sure, but keeps it from taking over too much of my foot. Those "freeze kits" did nothing. Only hurts if I step on a pebble while barefoot. Laugh [(-D]

As for seeing a Doctor, my wife can inject the Tetanus shot. Wonder if she gets any pleasure out of sticking her hubby? Starting to feel like an old fart sharing health stories here. On to more interesting stuff, trains...

With the small HO layout to build for the wife, I put more of my vintage N scale (excess stuff) up for sale. Need the change to buy a few more HO items for it. (and if there is enough left over, another KATO for ME!Pirate [oX)] hee hee).

And speaking of the wife, she received an invite to come in for an interview for the Flight Nurse job. That was quick! "COOL"  Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Still Rob you want to get the foot looked at or at least the shot since you really don't know what the board and nail have been lying in, right? While on the topic of Cadets, I did a couple of years as an Army Cadet here In Aus. It was great fun! My grandfather was a Sargent in the Army for 10 years, He fought in Vietnam. I also had an uncle serve with the RAAF, but he has since retired.

Hey Dave, that is a great picture of you in Baghdad.  I have a friend in the RAAF based in Darwin, and he is currently on assignment, but it's top secret, he won't say whether he is in Iraq or Afghanistan...
