This made me chuckle.  A couple of weeks ago one of Larry's friends came over and Larry looked like this the next day.

Jim,  Sorry about the vampire attack.

Glad you guys liked the bike trip photos.  My friends thought that I was crazy when I took photos of every train related thing for resource  material.

I guess Fergie is buying today.  Hmmm.  I will have a large green salad with my coffee.  Thanks.

You haven't seen him eat, have you?  He says he eats one layer at a time, but what he didn't tell you was that he eats each layer in one bite!  That sandwich is mearly a five bite appetizer!  I'm tellin' ya, don't go near his mouth!  He doesn't eat food, he inhales it!

After unpacking everything which took up the whole back half of my mom's van (with removal of theback set of seats). My dad said we packed light but the stuff we packed wasn't.

Our Cabin had a "waterfront view". It was more of a Pinetree view, but hey it was like a wind tunnel, we got every little gust of wind which really helped.

Here is the view.

and look who was there to greet us. The local Loon with it's chick.

The chipmunks and squriles were brave. they came right up to us and nibbled their way into the hotdog rolls (btw cloe I'll have hotdogs 2 muster only please), bread, and the hamburger buns. Cookie and I (nickname for my friend Milton) tried to get them away but they were like 'haha! Gung-ho boys! Were legilly protected by the state.' (use your imagination on this one)

Day 2 was mostly spent playing cribbage, canooning, and hanging out at the ledgeds, which are natural waterslides with hard granite covered with a slippery coating. Fun, Fun, Fun. Not fun when you fall.

Day 3: packedup and headed home and got this.

Good Evening Diners:  I see Fergie’s in the Captain’s chair and spending like a sailor!Captain [4:-)] I’ll have some dessert please.

Fergie, does this mean you get more modeling space, or are you in your usual quarters?

Not a pleasant 72 hours.  It’s included the theft and recovery of our car. Thank God it wasn’t the van. We’ve lost the camera it seems. My blood meter was with it, but that was merely kicked under a seat. Thankfully, I have a spare.  I don’t want to go into details, just very grateful to have the vehicle back undamaged.

So Fergie, I’m sorry about the "tank" photos.  I’ll do a drawing of the entryway if you like.  It’s about the only thing that you couldn’t just guess at for a model, and even then, it’s more the topography of that particular site, more than anything.

Real house shaker of a thunderstorm early this morning.  From the sound of it there were two separate cells, one very close, and the other a few miles further off.

to all the new and returning folks since I was last in.

Scott, belated congratulations on the NS job.  With your work ethic, it’s certain you’ll do well.

I’m finally back to working on the layout again as of this evening. Sawing up and sanding rock castings to extend the rock wall at the end of the room.  Next stage after this is to attempt a major fault line with angled up-thrust that should give a “geological” reason for the mountain in the corner.  The blue desert shall be conquered, and all the access hatches will eventually have their seams disguised!  Since beginning this post, I’ve been able to shape and set five major castings.  This brings me to the start of the fault region. There’s a good deal of fill-in work to do on tonight’s progress, but I feel good about getting back on the case.

I’ll say , and God Bless.  Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace. Angel [angel]

JHey guys!

I haven't popped in a couple days, so I came.

I'll have a coke float-Yeah, coke. I hate rootbeer.

CPrail: My minimum radius is 22". Don't worry.

Garry: Yeah, I just re-did the flex track. I had it last time be about 24" radius for a bit, then it sharpened to about 18" for awhile... Didn't work well. I fixed it pretty close to 22". Doesn't matter much... If I do pull it off, it would come in November...

Jim: I don't have nor want hand cymbals. If I was ever mad, I'd sneak in with my 18" crash ride at night and hit it with my drum stick by your ear at 3 AM. WAKE UP CALL!

Well, gotta run,

Mark

Evening Gang: I actually got some work done in the MRR field today. That's on the 7 ½ inch gauge. I went down to work on the diesel locomotive but I ended up getting the string trimmer and finding the main line out east of the depot. Since I had the string trimmer there and the air hose for the air grinder was up at the house. I managed to clear the main for about 150 ft and had to trim an oak tree that had laid down a couple of branches on the track. I did cut the weeds around the turntable lead where the locomotive is. Since that is raised it makes a handy work bench. The weather was HOT. I had to make a trip to the house to get water. I should have brought some with me.

Rob: That hand seems serious to me. I headed to the ER as a precaution. I also have a back up. My allergy doctor lives across the road. Really take care of yourself.

Sue: Where is that tunnel? Do you know if it was named? I've looked through my Milw. Rd. books but haven't found a reference to it yet. Most of my books deal with the east end so I may have to get some more books. Yea. You may also try the Milw Rd historical society. They have a web site by that name.

Capt. Fergie: How sweet it is! Actually this means that when anything goes you're it. Do you get more money for being in the fancy seat? Great job on the 2-10-2s.

Girls, make my dog with Cheese's sauerkraut. Actually I'd prefer a braughtwerst.

Colby: Those a nice pictures of a great looking place. I think that the BATF is looking for your cat.

Finally since Capt. Fergie is buying I'll have the top sirloin, medium, with baked potato and a garden salad. You might as well bring out a bottle of Merlot also. I night as well live it up.

Boy I got wordy tonight. I'll just sit back now and sip the wine and attack that steak.

Good Night All

Good evening , been out straight the last few days, 1st with all the  ISP issues, then a router driver upgrade issue, then a bandwidth problem, finally things are looking OK. I have more photosdto share, they are added to Wedshots on my link at the bottom of my reply, under Trains Album when you open the website. In the meantime, here are a couple from the same Railfan trip back on July 14th in New Hampshire's White Mountain, and the old B&M Mountain Division line.

Here is 7470  at the "gateway" at the top of Crawford Notch, the highest elevation, as she approached Crawford Station.

Here she is taking On water from the fire truck tanker, you can see the truck at the left edge of the photo.

This photo is looking east towards Crawford Station, Elephant Head rock can be clearly seen the the background.

Good morning.......yesterday was a spectacular day here weatherwise, today, cloudy, showers on the way and much higher heat and humidity, but, this "is" August and it "is" expected.

ROB: Glad you enjoyed the photos from railfan weekend in NH. I love this new Nikon D70 DSLR that we bought a year ago, I am still learning the features.

HOOPLE: Mark, patience is a virtue grasshopper!!! The delay may have been caused by manufacturing problems, or a broken die, or a fault in the design. Or, maybe their suppliers of parts are late with delivery. Maybe they discovered that the Chinese Mfgr used "lead paint", so that delayed the delivery. There could be any number of reasons. I would rather have the delivery late, and be a fine working locomotive, than a POC and have to be returned...right ?

FERGIE: I have you covered my friend. I observe the weather daily, and as soon as anything arises, you will be notified. Sable Is. is a long way out there, how many knots can your ship ( The Hudson ? ) make ?

MIKE: The Veggie garden is doing just great, our new watering technique is working better than expected. The four black 35 gallon barrels really get heated nicely by the sun, so watering the plants is much better than the hose from the well that has 47F water which "shocks" the plants....not good !!! And, we add lime to the water and rapid grow, so we also fertilize and lime the soil at the same time.

CAPE JIM: Yes, the problems are NEVER the ISP's, it has to be "our's"!!!  Censored [censored]Banged Head [banghead]

TRAIN STUFF: I am checking out the two instructional DVD's that came with the airbrush kit, let you know how good they are. The catalog showed VHS tape, so I was suprised but happy to see DVD's instead. Approve [^]

Mornin' all!

Great pics Dick!

Busy, busy day today!

My daughter is in the office today to start an internship, Ihave to go and register for my college classes today, plus all of my usual work for the day.  Busy, busy, busy!

Here's the local weather for the Indianapolis area......

DANGEROUS HEAT INDICES THIS WEEK!

THIS WEEK:  Sunday marked day number 6 in a row of 90 degree plus heat.  We are not close to a record yet, but we will certainly get closer this week.  Here is the list of most consecutive days of 90 degrees or higher.  The record is 19 back in 1936.

Today should easily be day number 7 in a row, as highs will hit the low to mid 90's.  With dewpoints around 70 (a extremely tropical air-mass, similar to summers in Florida), heat index values will run from 100 - 105.  With the State Fair, sports 2-a-days, take precautions if you are going to be outdoors.  Here is a list of possible heat disorders when heat index values approach 105 degrees.

When will the heat end???  Well, there may be a slight break by next weekend, but it will still be above normal in the heat department.

Yards and crops need to see more rain.  As far as that is concerned, the rain will be hit and miss for most of the week.

FAIR WEATHER DAY:  Usually Fair Weather Day is during the second week of the fair, but that has changed this year!  Fair Weather Day is this Thursday.  Here is a graphic with the details.

Well, I'd best hit it!

I'm gone!

Poof!

Hey all.

Grayfox: I believe I said ORDER DEADLINE not SHIPPING DATE. If the shipping date was bumped sooner, that'd be good. They bumped the ORDER DEADLINE to THREE DAYS AGO.

Sorry for shouting.

On the bright side, MB klein is still taking orders. YAY!

Afternoon All

Greetings fom East of Sable Is.

Dick: We can do 16 knots with it all on the line but we like to keep it to 12 as anymore than that we will burn up the fuel. at present we are approximately 240nm from Halifax so we're looking at a 20hr trip home. Home in three days then off to Hibernia which is approximately 500nm from homeport. BTW Loved the pics! looked like a very nice trip.

On that note: Bill, I also liked your pics of the Berkshire, Always a crowd pleaser.

Paul: A little extra cash is always appreciated but it is already spent as I need a new kitchen, sunroom and hallway floor. We'll be putting down tile this time.

John: Sorry to hear about your misadventures. hard to be forgiving when that crap happens. As far as the Tank goes I think I'll adlib as I already have windows left over from several kits. So why re-invent the wheel. As far as the Cabin goes the Hudson is 45 years old so the cabins tend to be a tad more sparse than the newr bateaus of our aging fleet. Noe the less she's a very capable ship and a bit bigger then my 1st command.

Anyway time to go

Later All

Hi all.

Haven't been here in a while.  To bring you up to date, Gloria has had more episodes with her heart, looks like she will need a pace maker for a start, her cardiologist mentioned something about some sort of infection around the heart muscle as well.  Not sure of the plan on this yet.  She is also waitiong for a knee replacement, the team is ready but because of her heart condition, they require a cardiac team in the OR.  This will need some difficult coordination and careful planning.  All of this has kept our stress level way up there.

Haven't done much modelling wise, looking after Gloria, working and the very hot humid temps have taken the omphs out of me.

Nice to see some poeple coming back and new faces around the diner.  Welcome all.

Now for the worst joke ever....

Children were called upon in a classroom to make sentences with words chosen by the teacher. The teacher smiled when Jack raised his hand to participate. She gave him the words 'defeat,' 'deduct,' 'defense,' and 'detail.' Jack stood seriously for a while with all eyes focused on him awaiting his reply:
"Defeat of deduct went over defense before detail!"

Luc runs out thru the back door ducking away from condiment bottles being thrown at him...

Happy MRRing

I went to see the doc today about a shooting pain I've been having in my right ankle the last few days. It just feels like a lightning bolt jumps from my ankle to my lower back and it's really annoying! I wish I could just ban it like I would an undesirable or disruptive member on my forum, but I can't. Darn! He took X-rays and found the culprit. My Charcot condition has fired up again. Having done as much damage as it could do in my right, it's decided it's time to move up in the world. It is now attacking my right ankle, disintegrating the the joint and making it collapse in on itself, catching the poor sciatic nerve in the middle. Every time the bones move a certain way, the nerve gets pinched, about two or three times every five minutes. Surgery is out of the question, as removing any bone from the joint will make it far weaker than it is. So he prescribed a pain killer that helps deaden nerve pain. Something called Garpentin. It's 300 mg per capsule and I have to take it twice a day. I hope it helps. These electrical flashes are really annoying me!

in a Southern mug, please and thank you.

***Jeffrey (and others who are going through challenging times), all my best to you.

Made a visit to Doc In The Box and got a prescription for an Epipen. I'm sure I will never need it, but it is something good to have on the farm just incase. Also saw the eye Doc and my right eye has actually improved from a year ago. Don't ask about the left though. nerd Will pick up the new glasses later in the week and maybe I can see well enough to finish that camelback project.
