Hey, all, thought I'd stop in for a cold one, plus I have to defend myself again.
PC wasn't that pic you post of the feller eaten pie, the same one from the security cam, when you said I'd raided the pie case???
Then it turned out to be you, wasn't it ??. Beside I have blonde hair and a beard remember ...
See we have a new one, a BIG welcome to GRAYSON, hope you enjoy yur visit here. We have another O scaler [RT] that stops in some, but he's moving and not back on line yet.
RYAN's got a promotion, congrads there feller, I know you've earned it.
DICK's been posting steam pics Mt.Washington and the 0-6-0
I thinks there's been some pics from others, as I remember, THANKs for those too.
SCOTT's, gonna get a job playing with full size trains. Hope one of the jobs comes through for ya feller.
Everybody seems to be busy with their train projects, buildings and such.
Heard PAUL complaining bout mesquite, you have my sympathy. I think it's almost as bad as maltaflora rose round here, almost impossible to get rid of.
I figure I missed bout a dozen other post, if I did sorry, just not keeping up much
Now for the goings on here. As JERRY said the county fair's on this week, so Mothers not been home but to sleep, shower n change clothes. She did get away an home today for a couple hours. First time I've talked to her for more than 15 or 20 of a morning since Sun. I get her up bout 6, she leaves bout 7am and gets home bout 11 pm or so, I'm already in bed. No, I haven't been over there any, but I have been cooking some for them, meatloaf, beef stew, chicky- noodles, along with egg, tuna n bologna salads. Fixing BBQ pork tonight for tomorrow, and beef n noodles Sat. Beats fair food and healthier too.
I've still got kids most everyday, along with everything else. Gardens doing ok, not getting much of any peppers, squash or zucchini though, not any honey bees to speak of this year round here.
Start working on #3 son's pop-up camper getting it ready for our annual trout fishing trip out by St. James, Missouri in a couple weeks [he hasn't had it out yet this year with the fire n all]. Looking forward to it, no kids, wife's and all the other everyday ???? stuff, just me, #1, #3 sons [#2 couldn't get off work] and #1 son's FIL, n my BIL [his first trip]. There might be a couple others going too. There'll be trout fishing all day, then we fish the Merrimac river at night [cat], beans on the fire, a few barley pops n a poker game or two for a couple days, along with the stories n lies that go with fish camp. Life doesn't get much better for a couple days.
So, now your caught up with me, haven't done anything on the layout or rail fanning for awhile. Thoughts n prayers for those in need, especially the families where the bridge collapsed, tragic. Hope ya'll has a gooden n stay safe.

Everyone said it was me, but I have blond hair too!
I've changed my avitar again, this time to reflect my fictional railroads company logo. Here is the full sized version.
Hey guys, I'll just have a cup of coffee please. Now, somebody on here asked about my story, so here it goes. I started model railroading at 6, buying HO sets from a train show in Savannah. Then, at 10, I got into O. Now, I am back into HO and building a 2 level layout with HO on top and O on bottom. The HO will be highly detailed, and the O will be on I/O carpet, just for fun.
Uh-oh, the guy that just joined now has to pay for everything..... everything is on me guys!!!

Don't worry grayson, I just ate.
PC: Once again, I'm afraid you've failed. I have brown hair, its longer still, and I'm not asian, and to top it off, I don't like hotdogs. Find a picture of someone eating a giant chicken strip, and that might be me.

Grayson, I warned you!
Mark, perhaps I need a new picture filing system?

Afternoon everyone, The bridge collapse is terrible, what a scary sight to see it falling down with all those people on top, poor souls.
Rob sorry to hear your sad news.
This is a little something i have been working on for the children

Sorry y'all, but I won't be responding to each of you individually with this post.
I've got some news for everyone...
The Baltimore Norfolk Southern recruitment session was today.
It was eight long hours of job descriptions, Questions & Answer sessions with the Train Master and HR rep, a timed test, and a personality test...
14 people showed up including myself. Two left during orientation, and two more left after testing. Ten remaining candidates, eight of which were chosen for interviews. I was one of the eight.
The interview was kinda, umm, non-energetic? The assistant Yard Master didn't seem to enthusiastic about me...Didn't even crack a smile. And questioned my being a rail-buff. I made sure that he knew that I understood what I was getting into and that I felt that I could perform each task safely and efficiently. I was somewhat afraid that he wasn't impressed by anything I had told him or my resume or anything.
Boy was I wrong...I was offered the job on the spot!
So now I will be getting a physical tomorrow, and once my background check clears, I'm off to Atlanta, GA for Phase 1 conductor training.
Hopefully soon I'll be riding the rails on nice black Thoroughbreds! That means I'll have the horse I've always wanted!
I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Girls, nothing for me but an ice tea.
GRAYSON, that'll be a nice layout, when completed

PC, well i know it's not Hoople, me, Jerry, Dick, Der, or any of the rest of old retarded folk. Come to think of it, I'm sure that last pic posted of yourself, ya had dark hair. I could be wrong after all I am retarded, but does anyboby remember how far back posted his last self photo.
Evening fellers!
Mike, glad to see in these parts again! And thanks for the kudos on the promotion!
Scott - Congratulations my man! I am looking forward to hearing all about your adventures with Norfolk Southern! Dinner and drinks are on me! I know you have to be really excited!
I'll lift up a glass of ale in your honor!

Howdy...
Scott. I'm excited for you. As I said previously, both myself and my friend here (Gus) are retired with railroad backgrounds. It's as good as any job can get. Stay with it and eventually your Railroad Retirement benfits will exceed those of your non-railroad friends by a substantial amount. Of course, all retirees should have saved their nest eggs, too. So thank the Lord and use your income wisely. Learn all the rules and follow them. Be Safe! BEST WISHES TO YOU SCOTT!
Well, I'll have some steak and lobster tails. It's celbration time.

PC, that looks good for Mark's appetizer, but you'll need a couple more platters of those for the main course - right, Mark?

ROTFL!! Very Good, Dan!
Good Evening All,
Finally got everything done for Lime Rock with help from the four not in Salt Lake this weekend. We'll have three cars at the track at the end of it and I'll go up tomorrow morning early so a bit of DPM building painting and off to sleep for me.
Scott - congrats on your new career. We have a bunch of old hands (retirees) at the museum and they to a man have no regrets about joining up. CUL, J.R.
Way to go, future conductor, Scott! Get rested up for your physical, and as others have said, learn what you need to do as great a job there as you have in others in the past. Ride 'em "Cowboy of the Rails!"
Hey Zoe, got any of those porterhouse steaks from yesterday still in the cooler? Great, cook me up one, and I'll have a root beer float while it's cooking.
Busy day at work - my co-worker David (who helps me cover walk-in and crisis) was off, and I finally got to lunch around 3 p.m. (and I usually get off at 4:30 or so). 'Nuther HOT day today - it was 95 when I went home for lunch, but it had dropped a whole degree to 94 (F) by the time I got home after work. Thank Heaven indeed for air conditioning. But tomorrow I see outpatient clients...
(and, tomorrow it's FRIDAY!!!)
Ah, that steak looks great - think I'll chow down now.
Blessings,
A plate full of cookies is all, please and thank you!
Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. It is much appreciated. Although running on fumes today, I managed to get done most of the tasks I wanted to, including the following:
This is the 0-6-0 Trix frame, all ground down with the additional 4 in the rear.
Here it is with Lima shell (missing bell at the moment). All that remains is to figure out how to add the 2 in front with cow catcher. Runs much smoother than the original Lima junk chassis & motor.
***Steve, your kids look thrilled. What a wonderful upbringing into the world of trains...good job!
***Scott, I knew you would land one of those jobs from reading your enthusiastic posts. "CONGRATS" Best thing about the horses YOU will be riding, is you can actually make money on them and YOU don't have to pay for their feed. Excellent!
OFF TOPIC: Below is the new shoe design I made for the dwarf mini horse today, Tinytoons. They are glued on and she can walk flat on her back feet again. Should have taken a before pic of her standing so you could see the difference - without shoes her back feet rotate so severely that she walks on the sides of her hooves. (front feet are fine)
Going to go sit in a corner booth now and work on that plate of cookies. Rob
Howdy!
Dan: That's cheating, and still not close!
PC: It would appear so.
Jim: A: I don't like hot dogs. B: If I ate that many, you better be ready with the mop to clean up some vomit.
Mark.
(Can't you people remember my name! Always calling me hoople... Mix things up a bit!)
Good Luck Scott. The RR is a great career.
Just please remember to be totally alert at all times. One minor miscue could cost you your job,or worse, your life.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Scott!
Congrats my man!
Now you can see some of these in your future!
And inch, does this help jog your memory?
Good evening! Been working with Microsoft all afternoon, the problem with Outgoing emails is with the ISP...surprise...surprise!! They did not believe me, so I spent two hours AFTER supper on the phone with their 1st line techs, showing them that their own email service had the very same problem as the new Windows Mail ( successor to Outlook Express), and then had to show them that my wife's PC had the same problem and she runs Xp, not Vista like me, so the OS's were NOT the issue either......don't you just love the arguments with ISP's??? So the tech had me write an email to their ISP guru's, lets see what that brings.
SCOTT: Man, I am as happy as you are !!!!! That is just GREAT news!!! Remember, many times people try to test prospective candidates to check their reactions, can they handle negative feedback, do they have the proper attitude, are they stable emotionally. You will be working in a very hazardous environment, BUT, one that can be worked a long lifetime if SAFETY comes FIRST and rules are followed.
MIKE: Where have you been lad ???? We had search parties out all over the railyard looking for you....did you fall asleep in a freight car bound for MA? You must have because you were fishing in the Merrimac River, that is located in Northeast Massachusetts, and southern New Hampshire!!!!!
STEVE: Good to hear from you again, your son and daughter look like they are ready to dive right in to modeling.
Evening guys, Zoe, I'll take a large glass of sweet tea.
Here are some pics from my trip to Folkston, Georgia.
Please click to the right of the pic to make it larger.
Hope yall enjoyed!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I MADE THE NEXT PAGE???? Guess I'm still paying. Everything is on me guys.
Evening, Chloe - just a hot cocoa for me right now. Thanks!
Dick wrote:......don't you just love the arguments with ISP's??? So the tech had me write an email to their ISP guru's, lets see what that brings.

Dick, would that be the "Of course, the problem must be on your end; we never have problems with our servers/routers/etc." kind of tech? If so, I think I've talked a few times with that guy (and/or his sister tech). 'bot techs. Are we sure that frontal lobotomies aren't being done anymore...?
On a more pleasant note, I got this sent to me this week, and wanted to share it with our dog lovers in the Diner.
How Many Dogs Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb?
1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.3. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!4. Rottweiler: Make me.5. Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.6. Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!7. German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.8. Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.9. Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb!10. Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.11. Chihuahua : Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or "We don't need no stinking light bulb."12. Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?13. Australian Shepherd: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...14. Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.
Hope one or more of those resembles your favorite breed... I'll be finishing up my hot cocoa over at the window booth. I heard Scott's going to be critiquing the conductor on the local when it comes through.
Blessings and prayers for those in need (especially in Minnesota),

Hey Grayson, your username must be accurate - "It's magic, man..." Careful, or PC will get jealous if you get too many TOP honors. He's used to doing that (a lot...)

Evening Gang:
Rob: I'm really sorry to hear about Hobo. I know how you feel, I've been there many times.
Scoot: That's great news about the job. You had me scared about half way through your post when you said that the interviewer mentioned that you were a railfan. I thought for sure you had shot yourselv in that foot by telling them that. You must'ent do that to us ORFs. We can't stand the stress, you know. I am very happy and proud of you.
Nothing real MRRie happening today. I've been goining through my books on the Milw Rd some more. I just can't get the possibility of doing Milwaukee depot out of my mind. Well I guess dreaming is a part of the hobby.
Grayson: A belated and thanks for the late night snack.
Time for bed.
Good Night All
Good evening. We had root beer floats for the beverage at the birthday lunch, so coffee will do.
Garry, I found an old quad map that listed Milwaukee as one of the many RR listed for the line. I will take my camera phone and try to capture the tunnel.
Rob, Sorry about Hobo. It is hard to loose a friend.
Scott, Cool job. Have fun with that.
Early start for the bike ride tomorrow, so off to bed.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Grayson, what cool motive power in those pics. Bet the ground trembled under those beasts. My personal favorite is #4, being a UP fan. Thanks for posting them.

Scott,
Congratulations and Fantastic Job! hope it works out to what you expected and more!
Regards,
Nigel.
