Good morning, bright sunny day here, the Dew Point dropped to 50F, it is gorgeous here today...but wait, the battle of the fronts is just south of us, and will move north into southern NE tomorrow. So we will enjoy today, tomorrow will be showers, rain, heavy at times.
The Bronx, NY had a confirmed F2 tornado, they "can" hit cities.
J.R.: Get ready for tomorrow, flooding rains again for Connecticut!!!! Get the sand bags ready near your garage doors.
FERGIE: How did you BBQ go yesterday in the rain?
RYAN: Did you get into some spoiled food with all that heat and humidity that is a distinct possibility...watch out for foods with Mayonaise, and town water systems are very suspect this time of the year, lots of bacteria with all this heat. I sure hope you are feeling better today.
JEFF: You just can't get a break can you Jeff?? Now a reaction to the meds that are supposed to kill the pain in your leg!!!
SUE: Looks like you and I have the best weather in the country at this point, I sure feel for PC, Mike, Cape Jim, Paul et al who are suffering day after day with this extreme heat and humidity.
DUKE: You will just have to come back east to ride 7470. Railfans weekend is in mid September this year, colors are great up in the Notch, and they should berunning 7470 up through the Notch. If you buy the weekend ticket, you can rise all the trains you want, all day Saturday and Sunday!!!
Later,
This guy is getting OLD!
I'm about done with this
, please and thank you!
***Philip, that Sun dude is an old friend of mine who visits us here on the farm most days of the year. However, he can wear out his welcome when he won't let me outside for long and dries up all the H20. What we could use is a major tropical storm to get the creek flowing and water the pastures. Heck, I would take a tornado outbreak if it would just bring some rain with it.

Good morning. Coffee please. I see that they got the font problem fixed. All of my old posts are now giant. Sorry.
Paul, I got an E-mail from Bob, the president of the Milwaukee Historical Society. He said that they had not found documentation, but speculation is that it was for a future double tunnel. I am still looking.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good Afternoon Gents
BBQ was a success!! Fog no rain and cool enough to make enjoyable and relaxed.
Saying that the winds blew up last night to 35 kts out of the SW. Talked to my better half on the way in and the gales were downgraded for this morning's arrival...
What the heck do Weather People KNOW!!??!!
Gales out of the NW gusting to 40 kts. Right on my port beam. Saying that I took my time and layed her along side with no broken fingers, toes, frames or scratched paint. Not bad for parallel parking a 300', 4600 ton boat (comes with 4 ALCO's wouldn'cha know it). And yes thank goodness for rubber fenders.
Yes my 15 minutes of glory will soon end but hey I'll take it.
As for the weather looking at the clouds and the temps you'ld think it was a cool October day, I kid you not.
Well nothing else on the MR side. Thanks John for the photo's if you can get them. Yes I thought the portholes were a grand idea as no one can reach in and hit you square in the face
Later All

Morning all!
Well I caught wind of something the other day- Athearn might be making the SP 4300 class 4-8-2s to go with their daylight cars! WOOOOO!
Besides that...
Well nothing really.
Mark
I wasn't paying attention. I guess it is my tab. Let's try taco salads.
Some days ya just feel like this............
Hey Guys.
Well nothing much has been going on.
Changed my layout so I can use my mostly unused bridge peirs. You have to see some to grades I have to use so there is atleast some track on level ground for a yard. My steam engines can only handle 3 cars max. (including the caboos), when they would normally handle a train of 5-6. My NYC, and Santa Fe F7 are going to be the most use for this set up, I need to have a wire re connected to the leading truck so power from there can help the rear truck in powering it.
Also my Santa Fe PA-7 or somthing needs a new motor. A 40x20mm (millimeter) motor would fit nicely.
BTW: PC your car has a flat tire.
ModelTrainLover wrote: BTW: PC your car has a flat tire.
That was kind of the point.
A trailer load of tires, and still stranded on the side of the road with a flat.
Don't ya just feel like that some days?
Afternoon all
Rob
were the ore docks even more impressive in person than in video/photos? I'm still amazed how small the train looked on top. I envy you that trip...cool!
John I'll have to take a look on the map and I know I won't be able to see your side of the lake from this side, even with binoculars.
Dick I will have to try and come out that way for the Sept ride, but it might have to wait until I get to be an ORF and hopefully in a couple years.
And yes thank goodness for rubber fenders.
I have pics of a garden railroad I went to a couple weeks ago if any are interested.
Sure glad the forum is faster today then it was last night.
That's about it
Best to all on sick call and those recovering

Hello everyone.......
Yes, it's still hot. 102 F now. Feels like Phoenix.
Phillip, is that trailer your savings for re-tirement so to speak?
duke.... i liked the ore docks. i've seen some on L. Superior but never took any pix.
Jeff... hope the meds are straightened out now.
Everybody..... We leave early in morning for Champaign, IL. Son is finally getting married. Good news. Very nice bride.
Bye.

Booooooo, Hissssssssssssssssssss!!!!
Keep that up and you'll be banned from the CS!
Evening Gang: I'll have the Taco Salad with a diet coke please. Thanks Sue. That would seem to be a logical reason for the second portal but I've never heard of them planning anything like that. The only improvements that I heard of on the west end was to electrifie the part in between the two sections of electrified track. They never did that because of lack of money and dieselization.
Rob: I'd be happy to bale for you except that we sold our bailer and big tractor long ago. Now we have a contractor come in and bale for us. Unfortunately they are becoming hard to find. There aren't many of us folks doing the farming ranching thing anymore. Most of the farms and ranches are being developed. I guess we may have to go back into baling ourselves. Those ore docks are huge alright. I've been to Marquette several times. The one that Duke showed is actually one of the smaller ones. If my memory serves me right it's about 1200 ft long, 87 ft high and some where around 60 ft wide. I'll look it up and correct as needed. I have a bunch of drawings and books on the docks and railroads. I am going to build one.
Duke I'd love to see those pictures of the garden railroad. Clark Gardens is having another train show the 8th and 9th of September. We have been asked to show the live steam stuff again.
PC: At least the tongue is in one piece and the load is still on.
Jeff it's good to hear that your rash is going to be taken care of. Did the DR. give you something else for the pain?
Fergie: Good job on the docking. I knew you had it in you. Do you use old tires for fenders? I've seen them use those huge mine truck tires for fenders up on the Great Lakes ore docks.
Jim CG: Enjoy the vacation. The sun shade really worked out fine. It was a big help in keeping the heat down.
Der: Thanks for sending the photo via E-mail. That would be a help. The fishing boats are pretty much the same all over the Lakes. The inside is completely open with the engine in the center. The only other room is the pilot house which sticks up above the top. They smell too.
Well bed time.
Good Night All

Heartland, it would appear that your joke (cruel as it was), well, umm, hmm ... simply fell "flat"
Rob - you don't need a rain-dance, you need a trip to BC
Jeff - praying that they will find a solution to what ails you.
SilverSpike - suggesting that POWERAID sports drink would help with the hydrating and keep the electrolites in check
der - we got through another tough week
Fergie - I'm enjoying your adventures as usual
Paul - I bought a John Deere 160 lawn tractor two weeks ago ... the kids keep running it out of gas (I've created a monster) doing donuts, but the lawn still needs a cut
Jim - I had some wise-crack for you, but it was 6-7 pages back, so you are spared this time. It was a nice wise-crack though. Have a great day.
Scott - how is the job ?
I need to get into the CS more often I s'pose.
coffee to go please.
cheers, krump

Good Morning All,
I'll just have a regular to go please. Lots to get to today and not much time to do it.
Jeff - hope you're doing better today For that matter we hope the rest of you who are ailing are doing better as well.
Fergie - good call on the weather letting you just slide it in to the dock and all. We wacked the pier in the Phillipines with an aircraft carrier once and that wasn't career enhancing for the pilot. At any rate good job.
Scott - when do you finish training school and will they let you tell us what territory you'll be covering without sending the SWAT team to your door for security violations?
Still painting window trims on the DPM buildings I bought and yes Jerry, they do look better with paint. The rate of progress is painful but I just need to keep beavering away until they're done. I guess that's one problem with old buildings on a couple of city blocks. With them so close together, you need a lot of construction to cover a small area.
Well, time to pick up tools and get on with it - A Lotus 7 and an 11 today and back at it tomorrow and probably Sunday as well. It's raining now and still 94% humidity, but it is much more pleasent than yesterday. We're keeping the sandbags back Dick as we need the water to flow out of the building where it leaks in at the rear. Tore up our whole tile entryway it did.J.R.
Good morning.

Jeff, Sausage for breakfast?
Philip, Sorry about all of that heat. It barely made 70 here yesterday. It felt cold in the shade. My brother and his family will be out from Wyoming next week. We would trade you weather because we will be at the beach. Brrrr.
Later, Sue
PS. It looks like it is my dime again.
Morning, coffee and a short stack Zoe.
A tad bit cooler here today [not much] with highs only in the low 90's and heat index of 100. I did shut the AC of and open some widows this morning, first time n 7 days. Forecast for the next 10 days pretty well the same as this week HOT. Sure hope this breaks before next Friday or fish camp won't be much fun.
CHUCK n KATHY,, hope the pacemaker works out ok and you'll get use to it. My brother did and he's had one for 12 years now. We'll keep ya'll in our thoughts.
JIM CG,,, hope you have a good vacation and it's only MRR'ing w--k.
RYAN,,, hope your getting some better today. I've had 3 kids and the wife down with feel bads, the last week or so.
JEFF,, hope you find some meds that work without the rash. Me n Mothers both had those problems with side effects, no fun.
FERGIE,, I figured yopu could park that big boat without problems.

My kids either run the riders out of gas or blowed them up. I bought a key start one and they figured out how to hot-wire it. The wife thought she'd be nice and mow the yard for me one time. Saw a snake and tried to chase it down n kill it with the mower, drove off in the pond. I had to pull it out with the truck.
We've got a busy weekend all planned, shopping tomorrow in either Effingham or Terre Haute. Then little league football starts Sunday afternoon with the jamboree in Palastine, 2 grandsons and 2 nephews playing, all on different teams of course.
