Mornin' all!
It's a nice, cool 70*F over here... Not hot at all.
A short stack sounds good, with a tall glass of milk.
Nothin new over here... Just playing with that E9 in the dark so I can watch the mars light...
Countin' down the days... 12 days to go... I wonder when the Cowboy's first game is. Hopefully they'll come for the pre-season game so we can watch 'em!
Cya later!
Mark
Afternoon, I'll have barley pop Zoe, I've had enough of water n tea for awhile.
Got part of the mowing done along with some other chores, but it's bout to hot for any hard work out now.
JERRY, sorry to hear bout Sally, seems she's had a time of it lately. If you need any thing holler n me n Mother will try n help. We'll be thinking of you both.

Cowboy's first game was on FOX last night, they beat the Colts, 23-10.
I think the Saints are playing the Bills on CBS tonight.
No comment on your weather, [at least that I can post here] it's 90 here in the shade now.

Have a great weekend everyone
Good afternoon, cool and wet here today, in fact it is 56F right now at 4:30pm. We have had about .75" of rain so far, not a lot, but will help the very dry ground.
Good day to go the LHS, so that is what I did.....we have a tax holiday this weekend, so I picked up a P2K Limited Edition U28B, NYC, and an Atlas RS-11, Maine Central. Winter project will be to install decoders.
Brian Solomon has come out with another great book, " New York Central Railroad " with a lot of pictures and data that is helpful for my layout, as the NYC ran on the former B&A main line in New England.
J.R. I thought I might run into you at Tuckers today, with the tax holiday here in MA, you can really save some $$.
MIKE: Chasing snakes with a ride-on mower and winding up in the lake? That would make funniest home videos for sure....Mike, you just have to have your camera ready for these moments buddy !!! One guy won $10,000 for something a lot less funny than that must have been........you were laughing when you had to pull the lawn mower out of the lake weren't you Mike???
JERRY: Sorry to hear about Sally's mishap, she doesn't have enough to worry about with Dialysis without broken bones too. We will add her to our prayers Jerry.
DUKE: If the market keeps going in the wrong direction, it may be quite a while before some of the near retirement group can retire, your trip to North Conway in retirement may be in 2025!!
Later,

Holy cow, Colby really sounds serious, I'll get the camera out as soon as I finish my chores!!!!!
Good afternoon, Diners! Zoe, a tall root beer float, please (might even want to have a second one after I finish that). Thanks!
Well, we're merely a balmy 97 F currently... Maybe some of Fergie's cool breezes made their way back down here (but losing some of the oomph going by JR's and Dick's places on the way). They're talking triple digit temps (F) again, come Monday. You know it's darn hot when you look at the thermometers and they're saying 38 C (!). So long as it doesn't get to triple (C) digits... Humidity is down, at least (only 29 percent currently).
Sue, it's a good thing Rob has his glasses now, since the forum isn't supersizing the text anymore. You and our crew out in the Northwest, better enjoy that nice weather. We'll think about you this winter when you're getting a foot of snow in one day(and we aren't)...
Fergie, good to hear you had the deluxe ship with the auto-park feature. Do you get paid some extra for the fancy chair duty (MRR LHS trip on the way)?
Jeff, hope that Benadryl's taking care of some of your ailment (and the itch). Do you have a follow-up trip back to the Dr. once the itch goes away (so he can deal with your pain - finally)?
Mark - if Athearn comes out with the Daylight locos, how will you decide which one to get first? (Decisions, decisions...) (Oh, and how long is it until school starts back up, if it's starting football season? )
Garry, hope you and the family have a great time celebrating your son's (and new daughter-in-law's) wedding. Just don't dance with the lampshade on your head at the reception. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPvmr8_cygQ
Speaking of young'uns, I went by my daughter and son-in-law's house this morning (taking an anniversary card - their fourth anniv.), and they have much more room. Big master bedroom in the upstairs (well-converted attic space; wouldn't be too bad for a MRR, but I digress..), Nice living room, with the decor reminiscent of a beach house, and also an added-on enclosed sun room (very good for TV/sports room, from the size and layout of it), and a big finished basement with lots o'storage room. The main floor has 2-3 bedrooms, nice dining room and kitchen, too. There's a 'carport' under the TV room, but it's a little tight fit for getting vehicles into the spaces. Daughter said their car isn't too bad getting in, but the Explorer is a bit snug on overhead space, so they park it in the driveway.

I see from the tire tracks out front, that Krump's been doing wheelies with the four-wheeler again, huh?
Jerry, will be praying for Sallie - let us know how her surgery and all goes. At least she'll be inside a cool place while they're fixin' her up. Praying she will be healing up and back with you ASAP.
Hey, tell Ed I've laid off the OJ the past couple of days! I didn't realize it was coming by auto-shipping; I just figured the twins were always on top of the ordering in more for us.
Steve, I'm just glad I don't have to forage for my breakfast like that gull. Think I'd get a headache just opening the starfish to get to the good part... Is that a small starfish, or a rather large gull?
Sorry to intrude guys. I only come in once in a blue moon......but does anyone know the status of Elliot (Big Boy 4005)? I hope he's well. It's been a long time since I've seen his posts.

Good Evening folks.
It cooled off a bit at dinner time, otherwise, a good sunny August day. It went some way towards drying out the three new castings I need to have dry in order to saw and sand them for the rock up-thrust portion of the end wall scenery. I’m figuring on sawing the castings into strips and stacking those to give a totally different look to the face at that point. The plaster has to be bone dry for that to be feasible. Easy to have that happen in winter with the wood stove, sun and wind take longer to achieve the same result.
Jerry: Sorry to hear about Sallie’s injury. How is she doing now? You both have tough rows to hoe.
Jeff: Has the cortisone dealt with the rash itches? Sept 6th. is a while to wait for a different med. You say the pains are annoying. Are you sure there isn’t some Brit “stiff upper lip” lurking in your family history?
CapeJim:
DerJohn, all you have to do to get that rain is like Fergie said - start up the BBQ grill; you'll get that rain really quick!
Rob: Good news about the eyes. My eye doc says that I have cataracts, but they are slow developing, so not to worry. However, I’ll have him really check that next appointment (Oct. sometime) as I’m noticing a distinct blurring (if that isn’t an oxymoron) in both, but worse in the right, which is the better focused. Darn!
Dick: Holy cow, Colby really sounds serious, I'll get the camera out as soon as I finish my chores!!!!! " style='width:24pt;height:24pt'/>" border="0" width="32" height="32" />…Dick you need the saying we have here… “I’m old and I don’t need to be upset”!

Antonio: Can’t help with you enquiry, but back!
Time to fix dessert. See you later perhaps. TTFN.

I suspect that this one may earn me the TOP honors, but I'll post it anyway.
...In the I-can't-believe-they-can-be-that-stupid department:
Tonight's local news told of a guy who tried to rob a Southern Illinois bank, but apparently it was a spur-of-the-moment plan. He didn't bring a bag along, so he ended up stashing some of the money in his pants and carrying the rest in his hand(s). When the police caught up with the robber, they nailed him because he still had $311 worth of money in his pants, and it fell out when he got out of the car.
Just further proof that crooks are not the smartest people!
Ah, saved by Jeff's post - Jeff, let me cover it for you. You've got enough with your rash and the pain. Chloe, I'm covering (gulp... where's PC, Mark, Ryan & I-live-to-eat-pies Fergie?...) this page.
Blessings,
Evening, a barley pop Cleo please

That happened about 20 years ago, long before this digital age now and I had been cultivating beans all day. So I was not happy when I can home and found out. There it was, nose down, the engine, deck and half the tranny under water. Her and the kids tore up 3 riders and 4 push mowers that summer.
Funny part is Debs terrified of snakes, even behind glass at the zoo. Don't know why she chased that one, other than the kids were trying to catch it.

FOR THE LAST BLOODY TIME, I HATE PIE!!!!
I go crazy for trains. Not food.
Jim: Yeah... They're making the FEF, and the 4300 class 4-8-2s... PCM, BLI, and them are making daylight cars... PCM will eventually make their GS-4 which I need, need, the PCM GS-4... Bachmann's don't cut it.
Evening Gang: I'll be brief tonight. I tired and it's late.
I got a call from a friend of mine asking how to use the train to get to the VA hospital in Dallas. He's been through a couple of bouts with cancer and is presently on O2 and using a walker or chair. Anyway we're going to take a trip next week to get him lined out. It's really easy. He told me that he ws in a parking lot getting ready to back out when some young guy backs into his PU. This kid starts threating him that he's going to beat him up and all so Tony takes a hammer and gives him a couple of wacks. The cops come and tell him he did allright and there were all kinds of witnesses. So a couple days ago Tony gets a letter the kid is sueing him. I told tony the only mistake he made was not killing the punk. Tony is a 3 tour Green Beret so he could have even in his condition. Go figure.
I took the 7.5 diesel over to my friends shop today. He's going to get it back together so I can get to the ranch stuff. Tomorrow we are going to get the corral ready to seperate calves for shipping. That's always fun. I'm still researching the tunnel with little luck but having fun.
It is time for bed so I'll say

Good Morning All,
Another Saturday at the shop. I'll have a regular and some pancakes with blueberries please Zoe. Did some more on the DPM buildings last night but it's slow going as I only spend an hour or two before starting to nod off. CFO reports from Canada that her team won one and dropped two so she's in the loser bracket which has never fazed her. The way her old team looked at it, it just meant they got to play an extra game on their way to the top. At least the weather held for them, we got rain all day but a nice drop in temps with mid 50's last night.
Jerry - hope Sallies doing ok you are both in our prayers. Same with Chuck and Cathy and Luc and Gloria. Jeff is up and about already so I'm guessing the rash and discomfort is at least greatly reduced.
Inch - I know your fustration with the riding mower incident. The best you can do is smile and fetch it back or pick up the pieces and try to reassemble. We had a Suburban 4wd like that three motors a couple of trans and diffs. The last time I just fixed it with junk yard parts, didn't even clean them up. Sold it about seven years ago and still saw it around last year. Guess the new owner had a lighter touch on the gas than the CFO?
Well time to get up from this booth and get crackin'. We should be in good shape for the Michigan trip, but it's the start of another marathon run including another trip to Quebec, Watkins Glen, Elkhart Lake and Virginia International in Danville. Plus I gave my landlord notice yesterday, we're moving out by the end of the year. CUL, J.R.
Mike, take it easy on the skillet's, will ya!

This is true! Guess I can cut him some slack.......
So, the rest of the family gets to go on vacation while you pay for it? Next vacation, can you get them to switch and they work while you take your vacation?
I knew I liked you for some reason!
But I get something out of the deal too! Read on.........
Mornin' everyone!
Well, the family is off to vacation. I watched them roll out of here a few minutes ago. They'e going for 8 days of fun and sun on the houseboat.
I got home rather late last night from work. God is so good! I just love to watch Him work! OK, here's the story....... I was going to pay to have a new transmission put into my car as it needs it and I just don't have the time to do it myelf. I mentioned this to a coworker and they suggested that I not put all of that money into a high mileage vehicle like that. I told him that I could put in a tranny for less then I could get a new car for and I know the cars history....it's a good car otherwise. Then he told me that he had just bought a new van and he needed to sell his old one. I know that vans history and it's well cared for. It just had a new tranny and it's otherwise close to immaculate. I told him I couldn't afford it and he asked what I planned to spend for the tranny in my car. After haggling back and forth I drove home in my new custom van for a mere $1500!!!! I planned on spending about that for the tranny! Here's a pic of my new toy!
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/Picture033-1.jpg
It's cozy inside too!
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/Picture032.jpg
Guess I'll be cleaning the van today..........
Later!
Morning, Janie - I'll have the waffles and coffee special, please. Thanks!
Jeff, looks like your weather is about the same as ours, except I figure your humidity is way above where we're going to be today. Good day indeed to stay inside a cool place.
They were talking last night on the radio about needing to watch out with any fires, due to the heat and it drying out during the daytime. No careless campers around us, please!
Okay, PC - one question. Did you wear a mask when you got the van? You made out like the proverbial bandito, man! I want to contact you for my purchasing agent, when I get ready to get another car to replace my current B of B.
Mark, sorry 'bout that mixup on the pies. We have so many piehounds around the Diner, it's hard to keep them all straight. Hey, with all those engines and stuff on your LHS shopping list, I hope you have a spare job (or two) to cover all of them. Those locos don't come cheaply, y'know.
Paul, as you said on that deal with your friend - go figure why the punks are the way they are. Good thing he wasn't injured, nor charged, in that incident. Definite argument for laws against frivolous lawsuits like that...(end of rant).
Well, need to finish up my waffles and get ready to go do the laundry thing. Prayers for some cooler weather for those in the Mid-Country cooker , and some rain sure would help. Prayers also for our ailing and weary ones, and their family members in a similar predicament.
Good morning everyone, I'll have a bowl of cheerios with plenty of blueberries on top. Skim milk of course. HEY, stop laughing, I want to be able to get under my benches when I'm 80 how about YOU?
A beautiful day today here, temps in 70's, very low humidity, and it looks like it will hold through the weekend too.
PAUL: We seem to have more and more of these idiots around these days, I hope the witnesses come forward for him.
JIM: Don't apologize, Mark had blueberry all over his face.....what young man DOESN'T like pie....come on Mark, we weren't born yesterday !!!
J.R. : I thought it was Connecticut day yesterday up at Tucker's in Warren, there were so many CT cars that were there and came as I left. I guess with 6.5% sales tax in CT, and 0% in MA this weekend, it was too good to pass up, he was well stocked with locomotives, and many new cars as well, especiallt those new trailer carriers from Athearn and Atlas. Some nice sales too
COLBY: This is a great day to get mom to take you to MA LHS's, 0% sales tax in MA this weekend !!!!!! A beautiful day to travel too....convince her that she needs something too with zero sales tax on any single item up to $2500.
ED: I just checked the frig, we are OUT OF OJ !!!! While the cat's away the mice will play !!!!! You can't go away and leave the orchard unattended anymore, the tanker never left the siding!!

It was definately one of those "right place, right time" deals!
Good morning.
Larry and I are headed to 10:00-12:00, all the bowling and all the breakfast you can eat. Biscuits and gravy for me.
Later, Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Mornin'!
I have time for a five minute break, gotta run soon.
Jim: For one thing, my birthday is in 11 days, and for another, I'm not paying retail! Thank god for MB Klein, trainworld, empire nothern, and FDT!
Gotta run!
