We would like to thank you'll for all the prayers for both of us, Kathy is now much better Drs have found the problems, two grothes in large intestine, they have both been taken out and are not cancerious. I'm taking a new pain killer for all the pain. I can't spell it but it is working. I stick it on my tummy in the morning and some not all of the pain is gone much better than taking all that morphine twice a day. Kathy's mom turned 90 Wed. and a good time was had by all.....Big carrot cake and russian coffee. While we were gone to Portland for my appointments the kids next door cleaned out the mrr and then came in and cleaned up the house because I was so far behind in my house cleaning. Kathy now has a caregiver coming in three days a week and is a big help, 6 hours a day. The MRR is so clean now that I can finially find the floor and now restart to build a new layout if I can find enough money from my piggy bank. I can layout the frack plan that I've been working now for almost a year. By the way the kids next door are our son and his bubbies and their wives. I have been reading some of the pages and I think that I'll go back and read some more to catch up on all that has happened. If I may I'd like to buy everyone here dinner, so cloe use my CC and everyone have at it. Now that we have time we will start to learn how to post pictures. Again both of us are doing much better thanks to all your prayers.

Oh, yeah - forgot to mention. When I got home from work today, my neighbor from upstairs was doing something on the back of his car (cordless drill, maybe putting new plates on...), and he said I missed all the excitement - apparently a lot of police descended on my next door neighbor's apartment. Don't know if it was possibly a drug bust or what (I did see any article in today's newspaper about one arrest and the local police chief was saying that there would be more drug arrests in the next few days...). Sheesh! If that was indeed a drug bust, it would explain some late visitors that would pull up outside our building around 11, go up the stairs (poor soundproofing in the building), knock on the next door neighbor's door, and leave a minute or so later. Hmmm.... maybe I need to be looking for another place NOW (before they get confused and come through my door)!
I think I'm going to have dinner in the Diner tonight, guys and gals. Stay out of the way in case anyone comes by and something starts if the police have the place staked out now.
I'll be working on my stroganoff in the corner booth, folks.

I've had modelers block for quite some time now. The itch is returning though. I really haven't accomplished a lot since around the first of the year. School and work has kept me VERY busy. This summer though, for the first summer since returning to school, I've elected to take the summer off from school. This will allow me to unwind a bit and it will give me a chance to return to my modeling. I'll be back at it soon, and I promise pics and updates, OK?

Excellent weather here in Cape today, and good day at work - only two in walk-in, a few phone calls, and lots o'paperw**king. Almost feel like it's the weekend already!
I found a newer (i.e., not a dinosaur) Windows computer in an adjacent office today that I'm writing this from. Still waiting on word back on my email about my laptop repairs or replacement choice.
Well, back to the salt mine for now (another hour and a half until the weekend officially starts). Hope everyone's weather is good today also.

Good afternoon everyone.....showers and rain and more rain, and it is only 40F right now, if it drops another 8F we will have snow on May 18th.....
Had to go get a new VCR today.......the old one has some major issues, keeps stopping in the middle of playback every 2 minutes, then powers off at times also. I hated to replace a VCR, but we have train VHS tapes as well as other tapes, and until I can get these copied to DVD we will need one. Now they are mostly dual units, DVD recorder on one side, VCR recorder on the other side, so that is what we bought. It has one button dubbing, so at least it will get me going to convert the tapes to DVD.
We had quite a traffic tie-up here in town, some person was towing a trailer, and bottomed out on route 9, the major east/west route through town. Traffic was backed-up in both directions for miles. The driver was VERY embarrased to say the least.
SUE: I have not heard from Lisa at all. I tried the whistle stop also, but no dice. I will let you know if I hear anything from her. Sure hope all is Ok in Raymond.

MIKE: Good luck with your PC selection. The "E" machines are good for internet use only, and if that is all the PC is going to do, it is a nice $$ savings. The cost is really down on full use PC's however, you can get a real nice DELL for only $400.

DER,,, sounds like a fun LHS trip. I've never taken a ferry to the LHS, but I could. The Darwin ferry is just south of Marshall and crosses the Wabash and come into Terre Haute on the S. side, course it would be bout 25 mile farther. The Darwin ferry is the last one on the Wabash river.
GARRY,, don't imagine I'll make it down to CHUCK's in Marion. As I remember it's 3 1/2 hr drive for me n Jerry.

I didn't get the tires fixed today. The service guy is coming in the morning. I did put a new battery in the Kabota. Getting at the battery is real easy. Step one is to dissamble the tractor into it's basic parts. The engineers had to have been on drugs when they decieded where t put the battery. It's between the radiator and the engine, under the fan drive shaft and the air cleaner. I also ended up replacing the positive cable. Anyway the tractor started. Tomorrow after the tires are fixed I'll have to go to the creek and clean the crossing out. That's the boses direstion. I'd planned on finishing the triming at the railroad but you know how it goes when the boss decides otherwise.
I guess that I'm having a halfheimers incident. I had some more thoughts to put down but they're gone. Anyway since the tire guy is coming early I'd better get to bed.

Der, last time I rode a ferry, it was across the Mississippi River, a bit north of here (and before that, another one that used to cross between (Caruthersvile,) Missouri and Kentucky (that's another hour south of here off the interstate)). And I think that was couple of decades (or more) ago. Your trip sounds like more fun to me. I use your bookmark to come directly into the Diner, too.

Yes, I know I'm in a little late this evening. So happens I am at work till 1130pm all week this week.
Fergie and everyone else for that matter - Thanks for the dating websites, etc. I actually use Yahoo! for it along with others, but I only 'pay' for Yahoo!. And actually, the lady I have a few dates lined up with (yes, more than 1 and we have not even gone on the 1st one yet) is my buddy Jeff's cousin Krista. I decided that the interest I have received from Krista is alot more than what I have gotten from Jeff's so called "5yr plan' woman (Jen) eventhough she did invite me out on a date last weekend. So far, Krista and I chatted for hours this week since we started 'talking' on Monday and things seem to be progressing along smoothly. Our 1st date is this Sat and this evening, she already told me that we'll have a 2nd. Seems that I have made a nice impression on her too as she's told me that she loves the fact that I make her smile all the time.
As for my module that I was working on before I left for New Orleans, still on hold. I am taking a few days vacation next week, but have already comitted to doing day duty shifts at the fire dept Wednesday-Friday and Memorial Day. So, when i am not involved w/ Krista and the fire dept next week, I will get out all of my stuff and continue working on the module and my 'test' and provide photo progress as well. Speaking of photos.... maybe this weekend I'll get some from my New Orleans trip posted.
Anyway, time for me to get going and slowly start closing up shop since there's less than a hour left for me.

Got about 30 minutes tonight to replace a 6" section of track. Also added PRR Trainphone antennas to an Alco FA1 (PRR class AF-15) this week.
I'm slowly accumulating photographs for a magazine spread I'm planning. Spoke with Kirk Reddie at N Scale Railroading magazine. The trick is not reproducing the photographs already on my website. I thought about submitting to MR but I'm intimidated by their photography standards.
In other news, I had 5 of my locomotives show up in the May 2007 issue of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society's monthly The Keystone Modeler:

I recall riding the ferry you mentioned and stopping at the LHS in Halifax. I could walk there from the Sheriton hotel (we stayed there) next to ferry terminal.
Feel free to save some Tim Hortons coffee and donuts for the diner in them morning.
Instead of a Ferry ride, I must drive at least two hours via interstate highway. Either to Nashville (southbound Trains or Aardvarks) or to Marion, IL (Chuck's Depot).
Reminds me.... Inch, Jerry or anyone ever get to Chuck's in Marion ??? He has quite a selection.

Good evening Diners! I don’t want to start a thread, but I have a question coming out of my day yesterday. “How many of you take a ferry to your LHS?” The story behind that is that I had a one o’clock meeting in a library that’s right at the Dartmouth to Halifax ferry terminal. I had just over an hour to spare by the time I got there, so I thought “Why not take the ferry, walk up Barrington to Spring Garden Road, and go to the LHS on Grafton Street? I can get a wrap at Tim Horton’s on the way back, eat on the ferry, and be in time for the meeting.” Apart from getting rained on, everything in that plan worked just fine, and I had 5 minutes over! Oh, what did I get? Some Evergreen Scale Models Clapboard siding, (4031, 4” in N scale) and some more strip 0.56x0.84 mm, both for scratch building, and another rock mold, for variety.
Fair breeze of wind last night took two empty rain barrels from behind the house and deposited one on the other side of our garage, and the one that had been beside it on the other side of the driveway, and around a corner, not far from Rosie-the–dog’s house. The garbage bag ready for pickup, curbside if we had curbs, was instead in the middle of the road and down a piece when I went for the paper.
Was going to scan some photos at the museum this morning, but over the winter the power source for their scanner has walked. 15.2 volts DC, 20 mA, so not an off the shelf item. (Epson 1670) if anyone has a spare.
Today I got the box of trees down from the attic. Those babies haven’t seen the light of day in 10 years. I expect some will need a bit of teasing out of their compressed state.

Trent: Sorry to hear about the blood sugar scare. However, the divisor I use, (18.2), to convert your figures to ours gives 7.8 and 3.2 for the readings you had. If that’s right, I would be annoyed, but not panicked, myself by the former, and would be hitting the juice and cookies to come up from a low on the latter!!. Maybe the divisor is wrong.
Sue: Thanks for the fence advice. I like the 10’ centre idea, or even greater, because there’s fewer posts to put in, and fewer loops to make on the hair. For my “production” run I’m going to choose the thickest, darkest or the hair available to me, as it’s easier to see. Pre-rusted or pre-zinced is a terrific idea!
