Eveing Gang:

Hoople you did very well on those grades. Keep that up and you'll have a future that will alow for lots of MRR stuff. Yea I'd keep that Big Boy too. It's a great keep sake. Maybe some time in the furture you will get it running.

I spent the afternoon and evening at the meet. John did all the running with my locomotive. It ran very well and the two gons did great. We had 2 derailments that were very easy to take care of. I left the floors loose so when it does derail you just take out a seat and the floor panel  and reach down to the truck. Grab an axle and lift it back on to the track then do the other and put the floor and seat back in and go. There was a good turn out and everyone did alot of running. The triditional track side dinner was very good and catered by Terry's son, Tommy. Tomorrow most of the folks will be packing up and heading home. A great time was had by all.

Jake: Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the dinner. Join in and have fun.

Well bed time.

Good Night All

Does a 4x8' Sheet of playwood 1" of foam sound done? Sounds like it to me. Besides that, I have E-Z track mixed with atlas, atlas on Homasote. Oh and benchwork= 21/2'x8' fold up table. with 3/4 ply, its all good.

Oh and under 18 get a 10% discount on everything.

Mornin, just some coffee Janie and a sweet roll

A good DADDY DAY to all the dads here, hope ya has a good one.

Mother come home with one of the grandkids last night, she's staying for the week

Another hot one here, mid 90's and higher humidity. They're talking a chance of rain today [10%] tomorrow [30%] into Tuesday [40%] of scattered thunderstorms, no good general rainfall

JIM CG,, you right on the lens, that what it is. I haven't used one since high school. I'm hoping it helps me get some better telephoto train pics.

ED, the Kodak does good on trains n grandkids, but I still like film better. I found a place for film that I can download my pics onto my puter, plus they send me prints and a new roll of film for $5 per roll. That's less than Wally world prices.

Need ta gets started on some outside chores, before it gets to hot for me. May get in some train time this afternoon, hoping anyway. Ya'll have a gooden n take cares

Ed: I'll try again and even reroute through home e-mail. Shipboard system is quirk when it comes to Hotmail.

Well not much to report except the FOG horn is blairing again! We had an excellent afternoon of Whale Watching as a pod of Humpbacks played all around us. One or two even jumped clear of the water! Missed it by split second as I only have one of them 1/2 way out.

Anyway Salt Cod, Pork Scraps and onions, a real crowd pleaser, for lunch so I must be off.

Evening Gang: Short one tonight. I got myself a fathers day gift. I got 3 flat cars and two gondolas for only $1000. No there not gold plated there 1.5 inch scale. Since it is fathers day I showed them to Mary Ann and didn't get killed. She's a good one but I don't think I'll try that again untill next fathers day.

John called from his place out at Turkey Creek. He said that the water from the Brazoes river was backed up the creek and getting near his lumber pile. We're going out tomorrow to put up a fence to keep the lumber from floating away. We go from drought to flood quickly around here.

Jeff take cover. The storms that are coming your way dumped a lot of rain on us but no high winds that I noticed.

Well time for bed.

Evening, Janie - just a cup of decaf for me at this time, thanks!

PA Belt, you still want to learn enough to get your high school diploma - without it, you will have a lot fewer opportunities in life (less likely to land a decent-paying job, etc.). I see people coming in to our agency every month (if not week) who are stressed out because they can't get a job without a diploma. I also see people who had to go back and get their GED because they found out how hard it is without one. You can do what you want, but tough it out for your future. Thumbs Up [tup] Ditto what Paul said on your BigBoy, too - you may be able to get it back up and running, with some time and w**k. Oh, by the way - on the McGyver thing, my daughter got hooked on the Beach Boys (1960's group, if you don't want to search for who they are...), from listening to some albums of theirs that I had around. So just consider McGyver as, uh... retro! ([yeah] that's it!) Wink [;)]

Paul, sounds like a good day at the meet for you. That's thinking ahead with the seats on the cars! Yeah!! [yeah]

Ed, I looked up Aquacalientes on Google Maps, and that's still a long ways from there to Houston - you'll have a bit of a drive!

I didn't get the hopper cars assembled, but did get January's cash purchases entered into Quicken. Want to have a good picture of where things are on my finances (for this year onward, at least). Feels good to get some progress on that. Maybe I can get one or two of the hoppers done this week in the evenings...Sigh [sigh]

Mark, sounds like you could do some scenery, all right? You're probably far enough along with the track to do some running, too, yes?

PC wrote:

(Not a word...)Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

No word from my daughter today (not that that's a surprise). I was thinking earlier today about just writing her and asking that - if she has a reason why I don't get her time on holidays, maybe she could talk to me about whatever it is and we could work on the problem.

Church was good this morning (again), although my buddy (another Mark) wasn't there. He farms some, so if the weather's good on the weekend, he often ends up working on his place. Mark tries to keep busy with his hauling and other paying jobs during the week.  I'll email him to tell him that he would appreciate the message, and should get a copy of it from the church.

The weatherguessers are talking some possible showers tomorrow - they kept drying out as they tried to move up our way today. The Missouri bootheel got some rain, but that's 75 - 100 miles south of us. So Inch and Jerry, probably be later in the week for you guys, unless the storms turn right and head up the Ohio River to Indiana. After this bunch comes through, they're not talking about any more rain for another week.

About time to head for bed. Hope all the other fathers had some quality time with your kids (in person or on the phone) today.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good evening to all......we had a great time at my grandaughter's grad open house...until the gully washer hit about 4:30.......it rained about as hard as I have ever seen it here, you could not see the house across the street. We all headed into the garage. The lightening was very vivid also.

DUKE: Taking the CFO's picture without prior written approvals is VERY BAD!!! And she is sitting right behind you on the HD!!!!!

FERGIE: Tropics are quiet, east coast is quiet, enjoy the sailing.

ED: Sweep of the Giants!!!! But those Yankees keep winning also. So your flying into Newark.......that is perfect for a driving trip north from there. You stop in CT and see J.R., then 1 hour north of there you meet me at the Steaming Tender in Palmer Ma for a nice meal while we watch the trains roll by at the Diamond. From there you head to Portland, Maine ( about 2 hour ride ) and take the CAT to Yarmouth, NS. You can drive the car right onboard the CAT. From there you visit Fergie and LUC, drive north to see John at Sheet Harbour, then take the Ferry to NF. How about that plan ??

Time for bed, see you guys in AM

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Hello everybody

Pictures below were taken at a friend's layout.  Gus models IC with locomotves dating over a period of about 50 years.  He has 1950's GP9's with green diamond logos through today's CN paint schemes.

I mentioned this layout a few weeks back.  Jerry asked for photos.

Now, DIck asked for pictures too.  What was that Dick?
