Fine I will But Serioulsly I have don't know why people are using dial up when they can use high speed. But unless you live even more into nowhere than I do so it's not available atleast use dsl is a good bit faster but I don't know the price.
I'll have some pancakes.
Or if your uber rich you could use satellite...............

We learned the "men's turn" and the "Back to the start-up" moves at our dance lessons last night. Next week is the final class at the beginner's level, supposed to learn the "belly roll" move. So now we can combine the start up, the ladies turn, the men's turn, and the back to the start up moves in one dance. KEWL!!!

Bob K., actually the dance lessons are great for Monique and I, we have been dancing since we started dating. There are many singles that attend the dance lessons too and they find it a great way to meet new friends. The average age for this group is around 48.
Colby, wish I could see your videos but my Flash player does not work on this PC. I will have to view them later.

There are a ton of people who can't get anything but dial up. And you don't have to live that far out in the sticks to be out of DSL range. I live near Indianapolis, Indiana, which is a good sized city, and I have a friend that lives just like 5 miles outside of city limits, with strip malls, businesses, and housing communities all around him, and the best he can get outside of insanely priced satallite service is dial up. And even at that he only gets like 25K speed.
It all has to do with the facilities in the area. That guy and I both work at the local phone company and I can tell you, the facilities in many areas just won't support it. Heck, there areas of downtown Indianapolis that the facilities are so old they won't do anything more then dial up.
Also, lets not forget that a lot of folks are on fixed (and low) incomes. Dial up is half the price (or less) then DSL.
You and I are the lucky ones my friend.
Yeah I know that in some places you can't get high speed I didn't know that dsl had such little range. If only satellite wasn't so expensive...................
I have some sheephead nuggets with tartar sauce and a chocolate milk shake.
Well I took my Musquodoboit 2-10-2 to the LHS today and they liked it. Problem is the LHS had a Bachmann CN 2-10-2 on sale for $140 CDN 501, 502 and 508 now have a new running mate...

In general, the maximum range for DSL without a repeater is 5.5 km (18,000 feet). As distance decreases toward the telephone company office, the data rate increases. Another factor is the gauge of the copper wire. The heavier 24 gauge wire carries the same data rate farther than 26 gauge wire. If you live beyond the 5.5 kilometer range, you may still be able to have DSL if your phone company has extended the local loop with optical fiber cable.

Thanks, we're pretty happy about it too!
Well I guess you can tell it's summer. The diner better run some specials to bring in the customers. I'll have a large iced coffee, please.
Nice day started to get way up in the 80s.
Garry: The LHS you mention must have been Bill's Freindly Train Store. He used to be located accross from the Middleboro branch of the Old Colony in Randolph, Ma. He has since moved 2x and now in in his own building in Whitman. He was real big into Lionel, has more HO and N now.
Dick: So was it a good day at Tuckers and of coarse lunch at my favorite The Steaming Tender. So did that D70 get a workout?
Ryan: Those dance lessons do sound like fun. Could be something to look into down the road.
Michael and Kim: Still thinking of you. It's been 9 weeks for me today. I am feeling quite good these last couple of days. There may be something to "Time will heal all wounds". I never would have believed this a few weeks ago. I hope that time will also help you both.
Phillip: Hope your wife is feeling better from the surgery. I see the beast layout pic just keeps on going w/ great stuff.
Maybe the diner will pick up later,

Evening Gang:
Dick: The museum is about 7 to 10 miles south off highway 180 and about 6 miles south of Strawn. It is on the south side of the interstate east of the cross under. They have some really great modeling on display. Of course it's in HO. The only mistake in the models of the coal mines was they used MDC ore cars instead of wood gondolas for the coal cars. I've meet the director and he is a very nice guy. He's a professor at the state college in Stephenville and is only up at the museum once in a while.
Fergie that sounds like you were set up. Nice set up though. What company is the CN 2-10-2?
Gary: Nice bench work. I've been thinking that anymore bench work I do will be with Beach plywood. I hadn't thought about using MDF.How about a couple of pictures of the layout. What I see in the bench work pictures looks very interesting.
Zeke: Thanks for the coffee. It was very good.
If any of you are looking for a gift for you better half I'd like to suggest a digital picture frame. Just insert a photo card from the camera and run as slide show or single pictures. Mary Ann's will even do close ups of the picture and crop. It will also connect to the computer to down load from it. She really likes hers.
Well I'm going to hit the sack.
Good Night All
I will have two cups of coffee to get through all the diner chat.
JR, Well, we didn't use white glue. We may not find our track not as easy to lift up. We are quite a ways out, so I guess that I will not worry about it now.
Philip, How is your wife recovering from her surgery? I hope well.
Paul, What age were the calves that you sold? Prices are picking up here finally, too, now that the grass is growing again.
Garry, Thanks for sharing your photos. I wish that we were that far along so we had all that detail.
der, What tree projects do you have going this weekend? You are making lots of progress.
Dick, Have you been hitting the bowling alley lately? Larry ordered me a new bowling ball, but it is coming from Florida. I looked at the map and realized that it couldn't get much further. Oh, we haven't seen your photos for a while.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

Good morning. Thank God it's Friday! I'll be heading out to work at 7:30 but I'm looking forward to this weekend. A three day weekend.Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 5/25/2007 Sundown Fire Dept., Station 23
Wind Chill: 66°FHumidity: 96%Dew Point: 65°F So Far TodayHigh: 69°FLow: 66°FRain: 0.01"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 6mph SE Today High: 85 Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 80s. Southeast winds around 10 mph.
Tonight Low: 65 Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 60s. Southeast winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable. The Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of the summer of 2007, will be full of warm and calm weather along both coasts even as the central U.S. stays a bit stormy.
Saturday:
High pressure dominating the weather on both the East and West coasts will produce warm and pleasant conditions and abundant sunshine for both seaboards.
Afternoon temperatures will be unseasonably warm, with 80s likely throughout the East, Southeast and Gulf Coast. The West will have a bigger range of temperatures, with the Northwest and Intermountain seeing highs in the 70s and the Great Basin, interior California and the Rockies climbing into the 80s. The Desert Southwest will be the warmest as the mercury shots through the 90s and into the triple digits.
Squeezed between the two high pressure systems is a weakening front. Energized by early-day sunshine and fed by abundant Gulf of Mexico moisture, a fresh round of thunderstorms will be possible across the Southern and central Plains and throughout the Great Lakes.
Temperatures will generally be in the 70s and 80s across the Plains, with areas of the northern Plains not climbing out of the 60s.
Sunday:
The second day of the holiday weekend will be very similar to Saturday, with more storms for the Central Plains and Great Lakes and warmer and dry weather across the West and South.
The only big change will be found in the Northeast and parts of the Ohio Valley, where early-morning sunshine will give way to increasing clouds and a chance of late-day showers and thunderstorms. A few storms will also be possible across south Florida and over the northern Rockies.
The hottest temperatures will be found across the Desert Southwest, where highs will easily climb into the triple digits. Temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s will be found across the rest of the Southwest, Great Basin, inland California as well as parts of the interior South and along the Gulf Coast.
Highs across the rest of the West, Central Plains and Northeast will generally be in the 70s and 80s, with a few 60s found in the western Great Lakes.
Memorial Day:
Like a broken record, the extended holiday weekend will end the same way it began, with a scattering of thunderstorms across the Central U.S. and very warm weather across the West and Southeast.
The scattered afternoon thunderstorms will mostly be found across much of the southern and east central Plains. Additional storms will make their way into the northern Plains, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic late in the day.
The West will continue to warm up with the area seeing highs in excess of 90-degrees expanding into more of the Great Basin, southern Rockies and spilling out into west Texas. The Desert Southwest will continue to see highs in the triple digits, while the Northwest reaches into the 70s and low 80s.
Temperatures in the East and South will also be on the warm side as the thermometers climb well into the 80s to near 90 degrees.
If a flash flooding warning is issued for your area, quickly act and head for higher ground. Remember, never drive across flooded roads, swift moving water can easily lift a car and sweep it downstream. Turn Around, Don't Drown!
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Good Morning, Diner Dwellers! Zoe, I'll have some of those scrambled eggs and sausage and hash browns that Jeff's having, plus a cup of coffee. Sue, I see you found the coffee mugs all right.
Nice pics of your benchwork, Garry. I'm not sure I'd use chalkboard, though (imagine a little kid trying to pull up to see the layout, and scratching his/her fingernails across that fascia....).
Got some rain here last night, but the front's weakening as it moves more into our area. Guess we've been too dry and the air's just soaking up that moisture. 65 F, with 84 percent humidity currently. Supposed to have chance of isolated thunderstorms today and a high in the upper 80's (88 is what the weatherguessers are saying). Tonight in the upper 60's again, and just cloudy tomorrow. That will be good, as have a church small group member's funeral tomorrow morning, so no rain would help. She'd been having some health problems and her health had just gone downhill rapidly at the last. Dee's done with that and pain now, though. She has an only child Tammi who'll be having to make some hard decisions on estate stuff, so please remember Tammi in your prayers. Thank you.
Better get myself moving - my co-worker David (and it seems like 2/3rds of the office) will be out today (early starters for the weekend). Monday we'll be closed, but I'm the backup for the on-call through Sunday. See everyone later today, and take care.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Mornin folks!
Thanks for the fresh doughnuts Bill!
Oh, and here is a great shot of another diner we saw recently...
Have a Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Yes, Jim, thanks, they were in a place that was easy to reach.
After a long week, it took a while to catch up, but I should be around more through the long weekend, so I will start with a coffee, and the biscuits and gravy sounded yummy for a start.
I have been making some aggro trees so my project for the morning will be to cut some furnace filter and restock the various shapes that I keep ready. I will often make a tree while something else is drying.
Well, I should get that breakfast eaten.
Good morning everyone, 75F already and headed for record breaking territory today. The record here for this date was set in 1934, 88F, so it should break today when it hits the 90's.
The trip to LHS ( Tucker's ) was very successful!! Bob Buck, the elederly gentleman who owns the store, is one of the most knowledgable RR persons that I ever met. He had a stack of old B&W photos that he was showing to a retired NH, and most recently P&W Dispatcher whom I was introduced to, and Bob proceeded to explain each photo. They were all steamers, and dated back in the late 1800's for some of them, locations all over NE and NY mostly, some Canada.
Bob's photos are in many RR books that you may have, so look at the index and you may see Bob's name mentioned.
The author of several very popular RR books is coming to NE in August, and Bob invited me to the luncheon at the Salem Cross Inn, West Brookfield, Ma to meet this fine gentleman, and hear his stories. I will have him sign some of his books that I have bought.
BOBK: Yes, the D70 did get some shots. The Central NE RR was on the south end of the "Y" with a latchup of 5 locos, 3 were P&W alcos I believe. Then they finally started to move over the diamond a bit and then reversed back on a siding with several cars. As I was over there getting some shots, my wife called me from the westbound side to hurry back. The Amtrak 2pm came roaring through, but I didn't get back in time even though it was only 100 feet away.....that engineer from CNE RR just cleared the diamond by 2 minutes !!!!
JEFF: Verizon is converting all the old phone wires to fiber optics here too, so that will give Cable companies a run for their money for customers. The copper wires are so bad here, that DSL is not even a consideration. I am only 2.5 miles from the CO and the line was still too noisy for DSL. So I have hispeed Cable at 3 MB...they offer 10 mB but I don't need that speed for the $59 price tag per month.
PAUL: If we ever get down your neck of the woods, I will take in that display.
FERGIE: Soooooooo, you now have a "fleet" of 2-10-2's???? I guess you will be hauling some long drags around your layout!!!
SUE: I have to download my pics from the D70, I'm tardy and getting them onto Webshots site which is at the bottom of my reply. No word from Lisa yet either.
Time to get going outside, now it is 80F, the temp is climbing fast!!!

Paul W. Beverung wrote:Fergie that sounds like you were set up. Nice set up though. What company is the CN 2-10-2?
I dare say! I now have four 2-10-2s on the line. It's the Bachmann. So I'll be putting in another sound decoder and more weight and another main line
Gary: I forgot to mention how good I thought your benchwork looked, wish I had taken the time to have done mine that way. I think I could support a full sized loco on mine.
Hey guys.
well for those who saw the videos I hope you enjoyed them. and today it's going to be 92* inland were I have and it's already up to 80*
nothing going on really except to try to keep the scond floor at a resonable temp and hope the the first floor stays like it is now. all windows in my room are closed and the fan is on high. AC is not in yet. (whish it was) 4 day weekend today, Sat, Sun, and monday off, right now it's just me and my brother 'dangerous combo' did some track painting, got 5 or 6 pieces done with the ties painted burned umber (not lumber) my prefured chouce of tie colorand some of the sides painted a dark-light green to "match" the first set of track I painted.
NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO PROBLEMS KIND OF WEATHER HERE!!!!!
Jim says: "Nice pics of your benchwork, Garry. I'm not sure I'd use chalkboard, though (imagine a little kid trying to pull up to see the layout, and scratching his/her fingernails across that fascia....). " Thanks Jim, but I like "scratch building".
Thanks to others who commented. My overall method is to build one to three sections at a time. I go all the way with construction to include scenery, and next I start building more sections. Normally, each section goes against a wall and measures four feet by 22 inches. ...BUT, the room is a uniquely sahpe room with 14 corners, and therefore, I have a lot of different measurements and shapes for each section. So far, I have "completed" (they're never really complete) sections following about 60 feet of walls. Plus, there's a penensula for the steel mill.
Enjoy the day. Don't get too hot in Boston area today for those up in that region. It's a good day to bake beans, right?

Okay Paul, how about the Texas Special? Here's a photo passing my flour mill. The flour mill was built at one of the room's corners and wraps around the corner to partly disguise it. The PA1 is a Hobbytown model I painted. After seening a photo of a Katy PA1, I just had to have one, myself.
Hey all!
Had to do some stuff this morning. Had to take my son for his monthly checkup at the MDA. He's doing good so they say.
A "terrible" thing happened this morning. After the MDA visit we had to swing by the LHS to pick up more track. Awful, isn't it? The pic thread has got me going and I don't want to loose the momentum, ya know? I'm secretly hoping for more "terrible" things to happen!
