Yes battles are noisy. I LOVE space jam.
I'll have steak and eggs.
Hmmm..... we need reinforcements to get that us army out here........
hehe the marines don't know what to think!
They should be out of here by tomorrow.
Hello everyone! I'll have a late morining snack. A bran muffin with OJ will hit the spot. OOPS! no OJ...I'll have Tim Horton's coffee. Thanks DER!
Philip...... good to hear the surgery was okay for your wife and I wish her a speedy recovery. She needs to crack the whip on you to get stuff done on the layout. Add that to your inspiration!
Dave ... speaking of wives. You'll have to get the situation corrected. OOPS. Perhaps she was not referring to the PRR logo.... if so, what was she referring to.? ?..... oh ..... never mind.
Dick ........ yes, people must have been busy yesterday!
Ryan ..... gald you like the pix. Thanks for the museum phto. Keep those cabooses moving!
Der .......... I really like the photos. Thanks for showing the trees. You should be inspiring Philip now.
Bobk .......... I like the club layout photos. Impressive.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Everybody ... Below are layout photos from my old early 1900's layout of about 20 to 25 years ago. It was a whimsical fictious railroad. My most recent of three names for it was "Grimensoot Railroad".
My Mainstay for locomotives were the Mantua 4-8-0 Twelve Wheelers. My fictious railroad bought up some of the old engines because they were hard workers and could pull my trains upgrade without stalling. I had some others types also.
Passenger cars were mostly made from wood kits such as LaBelle. I had interiors in most of them. My business car has some stained wood interior walls, oriental rugs, curtains, and all the furnishings. Exception was the Roundhouse Pullman Palace cars were plastic. They had interiors, too, and I repalced the Roundhouse trucks with Central Valley trucks. One car is a narrow vestibule car of the 1890's era.
Freight cars were a mixture of wood kits (mostly Central Valley) and plastic kits (mostly roundhouse. A few were kitbashed creations.
The layout was never completed. (Aren't they all?) It had the three towns (Hither, Thither, and Yon.) The locomotive servicing area was a mixture of Campbell kit structures and scratch built structures. Behind the locomotive service area is a dock serving a river boat.
The layout was destroyed so I could move. I saved a few things. I still have some locomotives and cars.
My present layout is sectional construction so I can move the layout if I had to do so.
Hey group,
Just a quick one to let you know that I'm still alive and well. Email still not working on my home computer. Plus the MRR Forum has now decided that it doesn't recognize me, and the login window doesn't work, so I can't post from home. Minor problems last week kept me from getting to town to get to a public computer, so I'm in "browse only" mode for a while.
Have to run.

Afternoon folks!
Been busy updating my Piedmont website and decided to catch up with the Diner folks!
I'll have what he's having....
...thanks Chloe!
Round three of dance lessons are tonight! We learned the basic and the ladies turn. Tonight we are supposed to learn some more moves!
Jeff, water in the telecom lines creates an electric short situation and since DSL is very susceptible to loss of signal strength, you may also be toward the end of the 18,000 foot maximum distance from the CO and DSLAM for optimal performance.
Phillip, great thread you started on the layout pics! If I had one I would post, but I am in the same boat as you! I'm still working on the benchwork and track laying stages like you. Glad to hear your wife has made it through the procedure!
Dave Vollmer wrote:My wife thinks my new avatar looks.... silly.
Dave, nice looking beer there! Oh, and ahhhhh......the avatar looks good to me! What is she talking about anyway?
Bob K. Glad you liked the ACL. The museum is located in Spencer, NC, which is just down the highway from Salisbury, NC, and about 25 miles from I-40 between Hickory, NC and Burlington, NC. Only about a 2 hour drive from Raleigh, NC.
Here is their website: http://www.nctrans.org/
Der, you are welcome!
Garry, nice pics from the old layout! Those passenger interiors sure look good!
Ed, glad you made it back to the Diner!
Cheers,
Ryan

Good evening to all.......still nice out here, 68F with an RH of 54%. I just saw an article on TV about a landscaping company here in MA that uses a solar panel mounted on the back of his truck that charges all his lawn mowers, leaf blowers and trimmers. They run 75% quieter than gas engines and have no emissions to pollute our atmosphere. They also said that gas lawn mowers, used for 1 hour, produces more pollution than an SUV driven 15,000 miles!!!! And, next year, all gas engines for lawn and garden, etc, will have to have expensive pollution controls for emissions. I guess when we purchase any replacements for our lawn and garden equipment, I guess we know what is going to happen with prices guys.
RYAN: Ballroom dance lessons huh? Zoe just told me that you have submitted your name to "Dancing with the Stars" TV show for next season. WOW !!!! I will be voting for you Ryan !!!!
JEFF: Have you checked the ISP Server yet to see if they are the cause of your lack of speed?
GARRY: That is one nice layout. I love the steam era, and what you have done. Nice job !!
BOBK: Your club's layout pics are excellent. Has your club been to BIG E ( Amherst RR Show ) ? It looks familiar to me, I have been to the show every year since 2000.

ED: I forgot to mention in my last reply, have you tried reloading your email program? What are you using OE? I have seen some people have similar problem caused by corruption of a program file, which stops email in it's track.
I am using WINDOWS MAIL, which is the NEW email program that replaces Outlook Express. OE has been around for years, and had a real squirrely software system for savings mail folders and files. Windows Mail comes with the new OS VISTA, which I have been using since last June as part of MS Beta testing team, now I have VISTA ULTIMATE OS on my PC and have had no problems since installation in early February..
Evening, Dinner Diner Crew! Zoe, before you head out for the evening and turn things over to Chloe, would you please get me one of those filet mignons the cook just took off the grill?
Oh yeah, and a root beer float for dessert, too! Thanks!
Dick, I just have (with the new one) two P2K SW9/1200's (and an Athearn SW7), since I'll be having a saddle tanker 0-6-0T and a GE 44 ton switcher to round out the switching duties (need to replace my non-working 0-6-0T (Roundhouse) with a Bachmann Spectrum one). I'll be using GP7's or 9's as my general road machines, with my connecting locos being 2 to 4 GP7's (ATSF)(to be obtained), GP9m (D&RGW - already have) and maybe one or two SD7/9's (D&RGW) to be added. And yes, I have some steamers - a Mogul (2-6-0), and will be getting a Mikado (2-8-2) and a Pacific (4-6-2) (the biggest locos I can fit on my turntable when I get it assembled and installed).
PC, I'll have to check out your thread, but it sounds like a gold mine of ideas, for sure. Your son sounds like a definite winner, with a great attitude.
Still no word back from the Mac place on my email, so it's time to start my own troubleshooting on the laptop.
I have a manual for disassembly (have done it a few times successfully before) and troubleshooting. So on to that...
Well, need to get working on my steak dinner to have plenty of energy for the computer work. Everyone take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
Blessings on your evening,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
It's a nice sunny afternoon here in Boston's south shore. supposed to have more of the same through the weekend.
Ya, the diner is slow tonight. Must be a party somewhere else. I'll let you know if I find it.
A good day at work, was sort of all over cleaning up the punch list. One job that is wrapping up is a kitchen/ addition in Lexington. The kitchen cabinetry is the finest craftsmanship that I have seen in all my 30 years in the trade. The origional structure was used as a carriage house for the main estate a short distance away. The stonework and massive beams that are designed to all be exposed are amazing. This huge now house is 3 levels. The 3rd level is the master suite, The open staiways and ballustrade wraps the mezzanine over the foyer through all levels. Quite a thing of beauty. This particular architect always has this type of work as his signature. The 82 year old woman of the house is a pleasant sort, and great to work for. This job has taken the better part of 8 months, but is close to completion. I asked her, what are you going to do when we all leave, you'll be lonely. She said she will give tours and has her garden club.
Dick: I'm glad you like the club pics. You'll have to come down for one of the open houses or spring shows. Yes you have seen our club table at Springfield. We are always accross from Tucker's Hobbies and Greenway. We have been going for years. Bob Buck and the Amhearst Railway Society have done a great job always making it a successful show.
Ryan: Wow, shall we dance.. My wife always wanted me to have lessons, can't dance for beans. It would have been nice to surprise her when least expected.
Well have a quiet evening.

BOBK: Ahhhhhh, I knew it, I go to Tuckers all the time, and I was at Tucker's behind the counter this year talking with Russ and Bob. I walked over to your clubs layout that is why it looked so familiar to me in your photos.....a great layout Bob.
I am headed for Tucker's tomorrow in fact, the wife and I head out early for breakfast at EB Flats in Brookfield, then we move on to Warren, Ma to Tuckers. If I'm lucky, we see plenty of freight action along the former B&A main line which runs along route 9 and right through the center of Warren, within a stone's throw of Tuckers Hobbies.
I don't know if you are aware that Bob Buck retired from hosting the Amhearst Train Show this year. He said the guy taking over is very well qualified.
JIM: I guess you DO have a good sized fleet......what is your largest radius?
Later,
Evening Gang: Mary Ann and I hauled rock to the creek crossing this afternoon. We have to make the crossing wider for the baler to get across. After the hay is baled we will have to put in a concrete cap so it will be perminent. It's going to take lots of rock to get things ready for the concrete.
Garry it's a shame that you had to tear up the old layout. You did some real great work there. I have a couple of Labele narrow gauge passenger cars. I like working on the wood kits. I've picked up a couple of the old ones at train shows when the prices aren't too unreasonable.
Fergie: Yes it was time to hit the sack. Kind of like woundering why the loco won't run and then seeing the motor laying on the workbench. The boiler did go back on real easy.
I think that I'll head for bed. Oppps Mary Ann wants me to set up her new picture frame. It shows her digital photos on an LCD screen.
The calf money is hers and will probably go to pay for the baleing.
Anyway I'll say Good Night All
Good evening again, Chloe - just a cup of coffee for now, please.

Boy, this place is pretty dead tonight.
You can say that again, Jeff - only five posts since I was in around 6 p.m. (my time)
PC, I looked at the layout pics and there's a lot of great ones in there,
Dave V. really liked your pics in there, especially the East Mifflin one.
Dick wrote:JIM: I guess you DO have a good sized fleet......what is your largest radius?Well, Dick, since right now I only have the one 8' wide (by 2 to 2.5') module, I'm hoping to hold to 30" on the mainlines when I get a chance to expand the layout later (which should cover the Mikado and the Pacific, and the Mogul, 44 ton, and 0-6-0T would be able to handle any sidings fine).
Dick wrote:JIM: I guess you DO have a good sized fleet......what is your largest radius?
Well, finished my coffee, so I'll head for home now.
Blessings and a good night to all,

Good Morning All,
Just a regullar to go this morning please. Kenworth over to service this am, then the trip east delayed from yesterday. Also working on an adaptor to redirect exhaust air from the column on one of the 44 tonners through the floor and below the frame so we don't deafen the engineer. A little bending and welding and we should be good. CUL,J.R.

Morning, Zoe - cup of coffee, glass of orange juice, and some scrambled eggs for me, please. Thanks!
Another warm one today in Cape Girardeau, looks like. Currently about 72 F, and supposed to get into the 80's again. Dropping off into the mid-60's tonight, and then tomorrow we may get some rain as the front moves through this area. Jerry and Inch, better get any mowing and outside chores done today - if that front hasn't reached you yet, it will be soon.
Well, time to work ( - did I just say that word?) on my breakfast and then head out for the job thing. Take care of yourselves out there!
Blessings,
Good morning everyone, just about ready to head out the door for breakfast on the way to Tucker's Hobbies in Warren, Ma, the D70 Nikon is all charges and ready for any train action along the route. I am sure that I will find not only something to buy, but some excellent train/rr conversation with Robert Buck, the fine gentleman that owns the LHS.
Then it is off to Palmer, Ma to eat lunch at the former Palmer RR station, now called the Steaming Tender. It is a great day for action photos, a clear day, not a cloud in the sky, so we are off ........
JIM: 30" radius should handle any size locos that you have or might buy.......that is a good main line for sure, as some people are living with 18 to 22" radius.
JEFF: How is the speed problem progressing ( no pun intended )?
good morning all...a cup of coffe would be great...
nice videos
what a great day it will be today...gonna start my new ho layout soon just getting everything ready..
hope all is well today!
zeke wrote: good morning all...a cup of coffe would be great...
Ya know, they say that the coffee always tastes better if someone else is buying it. Since you've got the top of the page (so you're buying! ) I'm bettin' that mine tastes better then yours!
Hey, congrats! Have you got a track plan you can post?
hey no problem i buy a cup or 2....
well as far as a layout i am working on that today...i am searching for a computer program to help with that...maybe..
but i am doing a ho and o gauge layout...
i got 4x 12 ft for my o gauge ...with a 4 x8 for my ho... i was thinking of laying my track on a moutnain sorta but nothing in stone..
trying to find a cp program to help...
my o gauge is pretty much in the same stage...
Good Morning everyone. Another quiet morning here, lake's calm.
Any Tim Horton's coffee? Nope. I'll have Starbucks, instead. ...and a pecan roll (sticky bun to some.) ........
Thanks for comments on my old layout. It was one of a few I tore up before completing them. Ripping up that layout was a heartbreaking chore, and it was not a pleasant period of time then. Now I use sectional construction exclusively. If I move (and I certainly hope not), the layout can be moved in sections.
Below is the frame work for my next section. It is made from MDF (medium density fiberboard). I just built the framework last week. It's very similar to "domino" construction because I read the MR series on that method as I planned this layout. Cabinets are also homemade with MDF.
The other photo shows completed sections bolted together. The section on the right is at a lower level to accomodate the bridge over the Mrs. Hippy River. Also visable is my (now famous) chalkboard fascia. Bridge section is 6 feet by 22 inches. Corner section is odd shaped. To the left of the corner section is a section 4 feet by 22 inches. The section in the first phto is 4 feet by 20 inches.
Cape Jim... You mentioned you are building a module. I agree, that method makes sense. Thanks for sharing what you are doing. I'd like to hear more.
Dick & Bobk .... I visited a LHS south of Boston a few years back. I recall it was across a road from a suburban train line. I wonder if that's the one you are talking about. I also visited Charles Ro's shop. (I have Lionel trains for Christmas tree duty.)
Paul ..... Glad you like the wood kits. I still have some that I'd like to build.
JR ..... Thanks for the updates. Good to keep that 44 tonner quiet............
Colby .................... neat videos! ........ I suppose I'll have to try making videos some day...
Happy Model Railroading!
Hello Zeke........ enjoy building the layout!
Philip ........ Is your wife recovering from surgery as expected? Hope so. Is your layout completed yet?
