Last call for coffee on the east coast...fresh pot brewing for West coast and Australia buddies.

Hey, what is with that guy on the Gen forum....he is one sick puppy...but I am happy to see that no one ( so far) is replying to his childish prank, and fuel him on.

Evening Gang: I was woundeering what I had missed out in the main room. So I looked. Thank God for the diner.

Not much MRRing today as usual. I did get some brush cutting done on the UP right of way. I had to quite when the tractor had a flat on the left rear. That makes 2 tractors with left rear tire leaks. Tomorrow will be a good day for the guy that does the service call. I did get things cleaned up so we may be able to see trains coming from the east.

Cheese: Just kidding there young man. I was watching a news program about the stuff. It's real scarry.

Dave Vollmer: Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Have a cup or glass on me. Usually I miss all the brew ha ha out there since I get in so late. I'm sorry I went looking for it tonight. I have every confidence in Bergie. He'll torpedo that stuff for sure.

I need to look through my collection of business cards for the number of the local UP guy. I can't hear the trains coming over the noise of the tractor or pole trimmer. I really need to get with the UPs safety person for this area.

Well it's late so I'll say " Good Night All"

It's just getting surreal out there.  Wow.  A new MR Forum low point.

Well, I'm off to bed.  Wishin' I had some pie ta' go...

Have a fine Pennsy night, all, and try to stay out of the brew-ha-ha on your way out!

Dick asks ....  "Home made strawberry shortcake bisquets , lots of strawberries, topped with cream, how does that sound?" ...

My response: Perfecto! I'm ready! ....  Bring a batch to the diner tomorrow! ... No, make that 6 batches,  one for me, four for Ryan, and one for everyone else!

G'nite.

I came right here, so what's going on out there?  Awful lot happened in a couple hours.

So Dave glad your here. Stay for a while until the fireworks are over. So did ShadowNix, welcome guys. I guess it's getting real bad out there.

Since we'll all be here for a spell, I should tell you about this evening.

My youngest daughter, April, yes same as my wife. She's not an April Jr, she's April Lynn. Well she is graduating from high school this year. Tonight was the scholarship presentations. Some already know that she has received a 4 year free ride (tuition) to UMass Amhearst. Tonight was the memorial and townwide scolarships. She did very well receiving 6 additional ones. I was so proud of her, knowing my dear wife is missing this did bring some tears. My wife, April Marie, never had a hobby, her joy was to wrap herself up in all the children's activities. She was soccer mom turned coach, brownies/ girl scouts, PTA, any other school activity, Band parent and countless more. What hit me tonight, is she is missing so many milestones for her children. Two weeks ago was my son's awards banquet for Mass Bay, last week was the 100 stars dinner for April (and 99 other kids), coming up is the 2 graduations and the parties. Of coarse what would have been our 23 anniversary is May 26th. So much that she is missing. I need to keep in mind that she is there for all this. Her spirit is here, with our children and in my heart.

So I haven't heard anything from, Michael. He may need the time, I know I did. Heck, it took Phillip to pull me out from the cold and sit for a cup of coffee. The rest is history. Mother's day must really taken a toll on him and his wife. Michael, if you see this, we are still praying for you.

I can say this and know it's not just crap, Time will heal, I heard this a hundred times (ya shure), but take it from me there is light at the end of the tunnel. It still hurts for me at times but does get better and easier to take.

I started to feel half decent about last week. the first time I did and even thinking of April made me smile. Friday was the first day that I felt this good in almost a year (even the truck fiasco wasn't going to ruin it). Knowing April having to deal w/ the cancer and all the treatment affected me more than I thought. Hell, how could I complain, I wasn't the one going through all that misery. At times I used to call April, "my little pin cushion" She'd get stuck with so many needles and I even had to do some too.

Mornin, coffee and a couple doughnuts Zoe.

Thought I'd stop in for a bit, no early [5 am] kids today. No MRR time to busy with every thing else, maybe I'll get some in the morning, suppose to be down in the 30's for the low.

I see the TROLLS were out last night. They remind me of a feller I once knew, had 12 years of schoolin and never got past the 6'th grade. Hope Bergie takes care of him,but I know he'll sneek back in again.

WELCOME to our vistors, hope you enjoyed stopping in, ya'll come back hear.

Haven't been keeping up with much in here, but I think FERGIE challanged me to a singing contest. You'll win this round Fergie, my lung infections back and I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket without a lid.

Darn, I got more blonde haired grand daughters than brunette. I used a dark thread before, may just stick with it.

bogp40,, all ways hate working on front ends. We had a Sable, that had 4 mid-year changes on it. It was h to buy parts for, had to have the serail # every time I needed some thing.

JR,, did you get the trucks under that engine yet. Looked like a fun chore there.

????, on computors for you smart fellers. We're getting [I think] a new one and I wanted to know if theres a way to hook the 2 togather, to move stuff around. If there is, how, what ports to plug into and what kind of cord, or would I be better off to just let some-one else do it.

Bout it fur me, if I missed some-one sorry I'll be warein long johns for the outside chores today. We've got a cold N wind and high in the 60's, wind chills going to be in the 50's [fun fun for May]. Hope ya'll has a good one and stay warm.

I've done that before. You'll need a special USB cable, called a crossover cable. It's apt to be a little different on XP, as I used it on 98. I used the network nieghborhood in Control Panel to get the two computers to recognize each other through the USB link.

A much easier method is to simply have the drive from your current computer put into the new one as a slave drive, then copy the files on it to to the new drive. After you're finished you can always reformat the old drive for data storage or put it back in the old computer.

Good Morning, Zoe, I'd like one of those chocolate donuts Bill T. brought in, and a cup of coffee, please. Thanks!

Well, hopefully this morning Bergie will be bringing in the bulldozer to clear out all the fire damage in the general forums from last night. Sheesh, that poor kid out there needs some help (and maybe also more supervision at home, no matter how old he is...)! Shock [:O]

It got fairly cool last night here in Cape Girardeau - mid to upper 40's! Not the usual mid-May temps (global warming? Wink [;)]). Supposed to go a little lower tonight (after maybe hitting the low 70's today), and even get to the mid-to-low 40's. The weather guesser was even saying that some of our more western counties might reach the 30's. Wow!! [wow] But the humidity will likely be low again today (it's 77 percent now, but the fog hasn't all evaporated just yet - was about in the low 30 percent range yesterday). One of those 'take a jacket' mornings, and carry the thing back home in the evening.

At church last night, we had the monthly Vespers service. This one was a healing service, with Communion also. This particular service always runs a bit long, anyway. Near the end, our associate pastor said that those who wanted to stay for prayers and healing could, but those who had to go could leave if needed. I always look forward to this service (it's an annual - might be semi-annual now, we've had it for at least a couple or three years).

Nice looking engines there, Garry! Thumbs Up [tup] Got any Santa Fe or SP ones? Wink [;)] Oh heck, Rio Grande would be good, too!

Michael, where are you, friend? We might have to get out the search dogs pretty soon to find you...

Time for me to get ready for the 'W' thing - if I don't go in to w**k, Dick might not be able to afford his trip to Home Depot, or Paul those new tires for the tractors. Evil [}:)]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Blessings on your day(s),

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Jeff's in for some sunny weather, and I'm due for a little rain.

Forecast 8 VIPIR Radar is indicating a few showers and even a couple of thundershowers on this Thursday morning. No severe weather is expected but lightning and brief heavy rain is possible with the stronger cells. It will be a breezy and cool day with highs in the lower 60s. Our normal high is in the mid 70s for this time of the year.

Late tonight high pressure should clear our skies and with light winds there is the possibility of scattered light frost developing. I am looking for a low of 38 degrees here in the city(the record is 35 for tomorrow set back in 1973). Some areas could hit the mid 30s. We might want to cover up or bring inside any tender vegetation just to be on the safe side. After our chilly start on Friday it should be a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and highs in the upper 60s.

The weekend is still looking nice with warmer temperatures returning to the region. Highs will be in the 70s on Saturday and Sunday. I am a little concerned about Sunday afternoon. Computer models are bringing down a weak cold front. There may be just enough lift to trigger a few spotty showers Sunday afternoon. This is mostly a concern for qualifying out at the track (It's May in Indianapolis you know!).  Bubble day could get interesting!

As for the meltdown in the big room, it's unfortunate that some folks just have such a hard time getting along with other folks.

Bob, I didn't pull you in.  You followed me willingly.  You were ready.  As you said, Michael may not be there yet.  It's OK though, we'll be here for him when he is.  And Michael, if your reading this, I'm praying for you too.  I know that a lot of us are.  There's no doubt that what you're going through is something that is just beyond most peoples ability to conceive of, I know I can't, but God does know your pain, first hand, and He's there for you.  He's just waiting patiently for you to reach out to Him.

Looks like our front is through.  I know not because I'm a meteorologist (I am), but because once again I got a tire pressure warning light in my Prius.  That thing is more sensitive than a microbarograph!

And oh, yeah, am I gonna need coffee today!!!

Howdy all.

Miss a couple of days and mis alot!

Spent 4 hrs in the ER yesterday (10am - 2pm) was dehidrated & high blood pressure with 143 for my blood sugars. I'm supposed to be @ 60.  Got home and slept for awhile then was hungry when I woke. Hadn't been hungry all day oh well.

Missed the trolls, send me an e-mail on how bad it was as we want no more encouragement of the breed. Did they invade the diner? If so I'll have to get my TROLL gun out again. Haven't used it since the attack on the Coffee Shop.

RT- If your cat still has that AK-47 bring her to stand guard.

Well ya all are sounding good and the locos are as well.

Thats all for now.

Good morning.  I will just have coffee this morning.

I am gone for 2 days and I am totally lost.

Hello Good to see you here, Dave.

JR,  Are you tearing up track to make your changes?

 der5997 wrote:

…not totally! It sounds like what you’ve got is more of a corral.

The rail fence is an arena( I used to have horses), but you could call it a corral.

I’ll be working on fencing a pasture. The fence posts used around here for these seem to me to be round posts about 5-6 inches thick. Sounds like I should go for the 8’ spacing. Selective compression for the # of strands of wire would make 5 into 3 in my case (N) otherwise it will look too crowded.

I would probably still use 10 ft centers.  In the lower field I used the round posts.  Some people go further than that between posts.  I wonder what Paul uses.

Mike: You were thinking of using hair for fence wire too? From that test model I did, I’d find a brunette next time, the blonde hair is just too hard to see. I would think that gray hair or reddish for rust might be good.

Hey, Pearl,  there is fluffy in the corner pocket.

Here is an Olympia weather forcast:  64/39

Sunny today and rain late tomorrow.

Sue

Morning

I'll have some strawberry's on my cereal, please! (Hint for Dick.)

Trent ......  Sorry to learn about the ER trip.  Hope your condidition stays okay now!

Colby....the cat is a classic!  Here is ours:

Jim (Cape G)  ....  Thanks for the comment.  Yes to ATSF, SP, and DRGW. Some of my very old engines are a 4 unit set of Tenshodo FT's in the warbonnet scheme.  They are now about 49 years old. They still run just fine and haul my old Tenshodo passenger cars.  Newest ATSF are my Stewart F3 4-unit set for my Walthers Super Chief.  ...and there are a bunch of other engine for those roads.

I'm still very concerned about Michael.

BTW, I wrote email to one of the MR editors about the troll situation.  He too is frustrated about people like that and with the nature of the internet which enables stuff like that. I'll leave his strong, unkind words for the individual unquoted here.

Have a nice day!

no. I'm not, and if the high cats aren't we always have the USS Moniter as backup, and the creepy train.

this would freak anyone out with the AK47 welding cat at the top page.

Good afternoon everyone....sorry I am late getting into the Diner, but I was up late last night fighting Troll. I contacted Bergie and gave him the details, then we went Troll hunting....GONE!!!   This guy was posting a new subject every few minutes, and they were outright raunchy. He was one sick puppy.

Just got back froma Home Depot run, needed a few supplies, then a stop by Coopers Farm for farm fresh milk......now that the cows are out in the pasture eating new grass, the milk is better than ever.

Still cloudy here, it was supposed to clear by noontime, but the clouds are hanging tough. Now they tell us that we have a Nor'easter, a slow one, headed up the coast from Dave and Ryan's area, bringing us copious amounts of rain.......last night we received 2.16" in all those storms, now this coastal storm will bring us 3-4" more !!!!! Who let the cows out ? Moo Moo.

GARRY: We have 5 boxes of fresh strawberries in the frig.....we have them on cereal in the morning, a dish at lunch, and on yogurt ice cream ( Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Yogurt ) at night.......

TRENT: That is no fun.....you need to keep hydrated.....try some flavored Green Tea made by Arizona...no sugars added.

MIKE: Are you trying to move data from the old PC to a new one, or, are you planning to keep the older PC and want to share files between the two? If you are keeping the older PC, you can use a wireless Router, and then set your PC's to share files. You can also use hard wire, by running Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable in your house from the router to each PC. If you just want to move files from the old PC to the new one, Jeff has told you what you can do there. I can tell you that it is real easy with the new VISTA operating system. All you do then is follow some easy directions to save your files, then when you turn on the new PC it will download from a CD or Disc, or Hard drive, whatever you saved your files on. Personally, I have an external hard drive that I use for backup files, and in case of a crash. Then all you need to do is download your files from the External hard drive to your new PC.

Microsoft no longer supports Windows 98 or ME operating systems, and all new PC's sold come with Vista. So if you are getting a brandy new system, it will have Vista, which I have found to be very stable and so far, security has been tight.

BOBK: You must be very proud of your children, they are doing great.......I hope you get a chance to do some camping with them this summer, or, vacationing somewhere nice. With your daughter headed off to college this September, it is more important than ever to have family memories of summer fun. Our 4 children still love to talk about the fun trips we did each summer, now they do the same with their families.

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !!
