Afternoon all, an irish coffee Zoe please,
Still cool out, 55, think we might light the pellet stove tonight. Still got a few bags left and the price of propane isn't any cheaper.
DICK,, JEFF,, Thanks for the info, guess we'll try the cable bit. We're just wanting to move files, pics and such from our old one onto the new one. Mothers looking at an Emachine [guess their suppose to be ok] with Vista already installed. Our old one has widows XP and is bout 4 years old with some problems. We are thinking of fixing this onne down the road and hooking up both of them, but for now, it''ll be used for games.
Best got moving, J Birds waking up from her nap

Hi guys,
Kind of an off day for me. Last evening must have taken it's toll. Not feeling to chaty now, just let you know I'm still here and doing so-so. Hope I'm feeling better later, was on a roll with good days and high spirits they'll be back.
Dick, Yes I'm extremely proud of these children, April was a dedicated, caring and loving mother to them.
Phillip, I know that you only gave me the invite.
Maybe I'll go to the club tonight, my co-chair for the scenery commitee is doing a tree clinic. This is the guy that is experienced in the theatrical scenes and has some great techniques. I need to get my a** in gear and get back to my scenery. Gee, think they may fire me.....
I haven't touched this spot since March 15th
I really hope that the club and all the great guys there can help take my mind off some sorrow.

Good afternoon, All.
I thought that I would drop in for a root beer float before heading out to work on fence.

Good evening ladies, I see you're both here for shift change. After watching RT's cat in action, I may need to hunt up some Kevlar (or maybe steel plate) to wear while I have my coffee and a nice steak and broccoli, please.
That's in honor of the 'Chasing of the Troll(s)' - shall we make it a holiday in the Diner?

Okay guys, we're gonna have to watch the cracks about weatherguessers - I mean, meteorologists, looks like! So, Dave, if my local meteorologist at our TV station drives a Prius, he/she might have an edge on predicting the weather?
Another pretty good day at w**k, great for catching up on that paper'stuff'. Hope tomorrow will be just as pleasant...
Our MRR club had voted last Monday on what to put in a triangular area along our new stretch of track (that'll give us a continuous run). We were going to put in the Campbell's abandoned house (one of the members who has built one on his layout had volunteered to build the one for the club layout). However, we got word that that kit is out of stock, so we'll have to decide on another building or kit to put there instead.
Bob K., hope you can get back to that one stretch of mountain on your club's layout - it's just begging for some more nice scenery, shrubs etc.
Jerry, that sounds like you had some fun with running those hoppers down the line today. Think I might need to work on some loads for my hoppers (though, I will need to finish assembling the Accurail 3-bay hoppers...).
I'll be over in the corner booth, working on polishing off my steak - say, Chloe, could I have a glass of wine to go with my steak? Thanks!
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hello everybody........
I like Jerry's idea for a Chicago hot dog. I'll take one too.
Thanks, Dick, for hunting troll. Is he out of business for good? Also, Dick, I'd like some of strawberries!!!!!!! ...sounds sooooo good!
Anybody recall milk in real glass bottles?. Last time I had some it was much more expensive than in a carton. BUT it tasted SO MUCH BETTER!. ...I have no idea if it's available anywhere now.
RT...... Wow!... the USS Wisconsin should have killed more than a troll with such fire power! ....and I like the root beer float sign!
Bobk .... yep...get busy with the scenery! ...... actually, I know you continue to have sad times. Keep sharing your feelings with us....
Now, Cape Jim....... what are you up too? That's some steak! Are intending to tale the eating crown away from Ryan? ... I know.................BEEF....it's what's for dinner!
I worked some more on updating my passenger car fleet today. Being a CB&Q modeler.... I'll say This "Budd" is for you!!!!
Hint for Canadians: Some Tim Hortons coffee and donuts would be good in the morning!
Meanwhile, back at the roundhouse, time to get fired up!
Happy Model Railroading!

Good evening Diners! I don’t want to start a thread, but I have a question coming out of my day yesterday. “How many of you take a ferry to your LHS?” The story behind that is that I had a one o’clock meeting in a library that’s right at the Dartmouth to Halifax ferry terminal. I had just over an hour to spare by the time I got there, so I thought “Why not take the ferry, walk up Barrington to Spring Garden Road, and go to the LHS on Grafton Street? I can get a wrap at Tim Horton’s on the way back, eat on the ferry, and be in time for the meeting.” Apart from getting rained on, everything in that plan worked just fine, and I had 5 minutes over! Oh, what did I get? Some Evergreen Scale Models Clapboard siding, (4031, 4” in N scale) and some more strip 0.56x0.84 mm, both for scratch building, and another rock mold, for variety.
Fair breeze of wind last night took two empty rain barrels from behind the house and deposited one on the other side of our garage, and the one that had been beside it on the other side of the driveway, and around a corner, not far from Rosie-the–dog’s house. The garbage bag ready for pickup, curbside if we had curbs, was instead in the middle of the road and down a piece when I went for the paper.
Was going to scan some photos at the museum this morning, but over the winter the power source for their scanner has walked. 15.2 volts DC, 20 mA, so not an off the shelf item. (Epson 1670) if anyone has a spare.
Today I got the box of trees down from the attic. Those babies haven’t seen the light of day in 10 years. I expect some will need a bit of teasing out of their compressed state.
CapeJim:
(No cats were harmed in the staging of that photo, I understand...)
our associate pastor said that those who wanted to stay for prayers and healing could, but those who had to go could leave if needed.
Jeff:
They won't pay a tech to do it and neither of them know how to do it, so that only leaves one person. Like the line from the old song 'Charlie Brown' goes "Why does everybody keep pickin' on me?".
Either he goes or I go.
Dave V.:
I don't know if I've ever been in here before, but it's gotten awfully hostile outside!
I know not because I'm a meteorologist (I am)
and try to stay out of the brew-ha-ha on your way out!
Bri:
Anyways, for all those near Seattle, the 844 and 4449 have ARRIVED!!!
BobK: Please let April Lynn know how proud we are of her just hearing about her accomplishments, and what a credit to her mother! Include your son in that too, BTW)
Trent: Sorry to hear about the blood sugar scare. However, the divisor I use, (18.2), to convert your figures to ours gives 7.8 and 3.2 for the readings you had. If that’s right, I would be annoyed, but not panicked, myself by the former, and would be hitting the juice and cookies to come up from a low on the latter!!. Maybe the divisor is wrong.
Sue: Thanks for the fence advice. I like the 10’ centre idea, or even greater, because there’s fewer posts to put in, and fewer loops to make on the hair. For my “production” run I’m going to choose the thickest, darkest or the hair available to me, as it’s easier to see. Pre-rusted or pre-zinced is a terrific idea!
Time to draw a line under today. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.

Hello Der...
I recall riding the ferry you mentioned and stopping at the LHS in Halifax. I could walk there from the Sheriton hotel (we stayed there) next to ferry terminal.
Feel free to save some Tim Hortons coffee and donuts for the diner in them morning.
Instead of a Ferry ride, I must drive at least two hours via interstate highway. Either to Nashville (southbound Trains or Aardvarks) or to Marion, IL (Chuck's Depot).
Reminds me.... Inch, Jerry or anyone ever get to Chuck's in Marion ??? He has quite a selection.
Bye

RT, Thanks for sharing the rootbeer float. Mmmmmm.
der, Have fun with the fence. Working on the layout fence is a lot less effort. You will have to share a photo of what hair color that you use. Fishing line is probably too heavy for N scale isn't it?
Philip, I have not heard you speak of progress on your layout. What stage are you working on?
Jim, Are you cooking steak for all of us?
Dick, Have you heard any more from Lisa on their move?
Well, 7:15, I should probably have some dinner. Jim's steak has me motivated.
Dessert time!
It's been insane at work. But the weekend's coming up...!
Got about 30 minutes tonight to replace a 6" section of track. Also added PRR Trainphone antennas to an Alco FA1 (PRR class AF-15) this week.
I'm slowly accumulating photographs for a magazine spread I'm planning. Spoke with Kirk Reddie at N Scale Railroading magazine. The trick is not reproducing the photographs already on my website. I thought about submitting to MR but I'm intimidated by their photography standards.
In other news, I had 5 of my locomotives show up in the May 2007 issue of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society's monthly The Keystone Modeler:

Evening all -
Yes, I know I'm in a little late this evening. So happens I am at work till 1130pm all week this week.
Fergie and everyone else for that matter - Thanks for the dating websites, etc. I actually use Yahoo! for it along with others, but I only 'pay' for Yahoo!. And actually, the lady I have a few dates lined up with (yes, more than 1 and we have not even gone on the 1st one yet) is my buddy Jeff's cousin Krista. I decided that the interest I have received from Krista is alot more than what I have gotten from Jeff's so called "5yr plan' woman (Jen) eventhough she did invite me out on a date last weekend. So far, Krista and I chatted for hours this week since we started 'talking' on Monday and things seem to be progressing along smoothly. Our 1st date is this Sat and this evening, she already told me that we'll have a 2nd. Seems that I have made a nice impression on her too as she's told me that she loves the fact that I make her smile all the time.
As for my module that I was working on before I left for New Orleans, still on hold. I am taking a few days vacation next week, but have already comitted to doing day duty shifts at the fire dept Wednesday-Friday and Memorial Day. So, when i am not involved w/ Krista and the fire dept next week, I will get out all of my stuff and continue working on the module and my 'test' and provide photo progress as well. Speaking of photos.... maybe this weekend I'll get some from my New Orleans trip posted.
Anyway, time for me to get going and slowly start closing up shop since there's less than a hour left for me.
Take Care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Mmm...That steak was good, and the broccoli was done just right. Tell the cook that was excellent cooking, Chloe! (And glad to give you the free advertising on the steak special tonight, too...)
My apologies, Trent - I read your post and meant to ask how you were doing, but I must be having trouble keeping track of multiple ideas at the same time. Do you know how you got that dehydrated? Do be sure to drink lots of beverages, so that doesn't happen to you again.

Nah, Garry, I'm just an amateur in the eating department compared to Ryan. He could snarf down several of those steaks and ask where the main course was, plus tell Chloe how many pies he wanted for dessert to top it off...
Der, last time I rode a ferry, it was across the Mississippi River, a bit north of here (and before that, another one that used to cross between (Caruthersvile,) Missouri and Kentucky (that's another hour south of here off the interstate)). And I think that was couple of decades (or more) ago. Your trip sounds like more fun to me. I use your bookmark to come directly into the Diner, too.
JP, sounds like your social life if going much better than what passes for mine.. I was wondering how your dirt project was coming along. Let us know what you've done with the module - looking forward to seeing your results.
Sue, glad to get your dinner going. Hope your steak was as good as mine was. (Yum!)
Well, I'll be heading for home how. Prayers for all those in need of comfort and healing.
Blessings and prayers,

I'll have some of that carrot cake with a fork.
Evening Gang: It looks like Bergie and Dick did a little house cleaning out there. Good job guys.
BobK: Give April Lyn a " Well Done" from me.
I didn't get the tires fixed today. The service guy is coming in the morning. I did put a new battery in the Kabota. Getting at the battery is real easy. Step one is to dissamble the tractor into it's basic parts. The engineers had to have been on drugs when they decieded where t put the battery. It's between the radiator and the engine, under the fan drive shaft and the air cleaner. I also ended up replacing the positive cable. Anyway the tractor started. Tomorrow after the tires are fixed I'll have to go to the creek and clean the crossing out. That's the boses direstion. I'd planned on finishing the triming at the railroad but you know how it goes when the boss decides otherwise.
I guess that I'm having a halfheimers incident. I had some more thoughts to put down but they're gone. Anyway since the tire guy is coming early I'd better get to bed.

BOBK,, I think we're all kinda proud of our kids, but you shoul really be with all thats happen out your way lattely. Don't feel bad bout the mountain project not moving along. I've got one small project, I've been working on since Dec. and it still not done.
DER,,, sounds like a fun LHS trip. I've never taken a ferry to the LHS, but I could. The Darwin ferry is just south of Marshall and crosses the Wabash and come into Terre Haute on the S. side, course it would be bout 25 mile farther. The Darwin ferry is the last one on the Wabash river.
GARRY,, don't imagine I'll make it down to CHUCK's in Marion. As I remember it's 3 1/2 hr drive for me n Jerry.
HOOPLE,, hope you enjoy your skip day and hope you get some pics to post for us.

well I think we have enough snifer cats to make a cat army. now are there any ones with dogs?
If you ever think you are having a bad morning.........
.... imagine being in the cab of this GE unit as it slid down an embankment in Tacoma, WA yesterday. Two trains collided and several locomotives hit the dirt. Photo was emailed to me from a friend.
OR .......... imagine driving to work on that highway at that moment!
^N ow that would have been an experience.
I'll have that long twisty doughnut in the back of the box. And the same stuff as jeff with kechup on the side.
Now for those snipers....
Good afternoon everyone.....showers and rain and more rain, and it is only 40F right now, if it drops another 8F we will have snow on May 18th.....
Had to go get a new VCR today.......the old one has some major issues, keeps stopping in the middle of playback every 2 minutes, then powers off at times also. I hated to replace a VCR, but we have train VHS tapes as well as other tapes, and until I can get these copied to DVD we will need one. Now they are mostly dual units, DVD recorder on one side, VCR recorder on the other side, so that is what we bought. It has one button dubbing, so at least it will get me going to convert the tapes to DVD.
We had quite a traffic tie-up here in town, some person was towing a trailer, and bottomed out on route 9, the major east/west route through town. Traffic was backed-up in both directions for miles. The driver was VERY embarrased to say the least.
SUE: I have not heard from Lisa at all. I tried the whistle stop also, but no dice. I will let you know if I hear anything from her. Sure hope all is Ok in Raymond.
PAUL: One less Troll until he changes his ISP again, or his user name. Are you getting needed rain down your way yet?
MIKE: Good luck with your PC selection. The "E" machines are good for internet use only, and if that is all the PC is going to do, it is a nice $$ savings. The cost is really down on full use PC's however, you can get a real nice DELL for only $400.
GARRY: Get out of the pie cabinet!!! Zoe, look at him, he has a piece of Strawberry pie that could sink a battleship. Wait until Phil sees you!!
HOOPLE: Ok young man, you got the day off from school, now lets see the proof of where you went...pics of the steamers??
JEFF: How many desks to go ? I figure you have about 12 done already?
RYAN: Good weekend to get caught up with inside stuff, the coastal storm will spoil the outside activities this weekend all the way up to Nova Scotia.
