Thanks, guys, for the mother's day wish.  Sorry but I am not a mother.  The closest thing to a child would be Pearl.

We spent the day with Larry's mom.  Too much food.

Catch you later,  Sue

It seemed strange to be in there and no trains. After lunch we strolled around for a couple of hours and took the secnic route home, back roads all the way. All in all a great day with my lady.

When we got back I lighted in my easy chair and read for the rest of the afternoon. I gave Dasiy the Dog a bath and she seemed to like it.

Good evening to all, midnight here, yes, I am still up, loooooong day, but a very nice one.

ED: That was one exciting 9th inning.....you should have seen the expression on the face of the Orioles manager after the game......why he took the pitcher out with only a 91 pitch count is beyond me, he was cruising...the Orioles fans must be livid !!!!!!

Don't worry about running out of OJ, we bought a tanker car full, it is sitting on the old grass covered siding next to the Diner.

MIKE: I got to using the rototiller this afternoon, it performed like a brand new machine, I tilled the garden which measure about 150 feet by 60 feet, plus a couple other smaller areas.

BOBK: I certainly would be contacting AAA, I have heard too many tales of people calling them and waiting for hours to be towed. They need to hear from customers.

Time to hit the sack, it is Monday morning already.....see you guys for breakfast.

Oh, yeah.

I forgot to mention.  The Mariners did well against the Yankees again today.  Morrow managed to strike out A-Rod.  That made the Seattle fans roar.

Good Morning All,

Still thrashing here but we're catching up bit by bit. One rig leaves for Elkhart Wisc. tomorrow am and the rest of us go to New Hampshire Thurs afternoon.

With #2 son home from college for the summer we had a little picnic in the yard for the CFO last evening. It was what she requested so who are we to argue. #1 son and daughter did all the gathering of food and cooking and I helped with cleanup. It's nice to see them all get along as when they were younger it was sort of like the basement full of aligators in Looney Tunes.

Ed - welcome back and welcome to our newcomers in the Diner. Its always good to share some time and a coffee.              Time to get back to it.   CUL,J.R.

Good morning from cool, sunny Weymouth, MA.

Today seem to be another good day.

The kids and I did get through Mother's Day alright. Some loneliness did set in as the day went on, but that was to be expected.

Well, now I'm looking in my driveway at the remnants of the 20 hour, sleep in the truck broken ball joint fiasco. I have to figure out how to pick up the pieces, or should I say change all the bent, twisted pieces. That last tow mangled the lower control arm, sway bar links and tie rod.

I will head over to the Dodge dealer where my son works and find if the parts are available in short order. After they give me a quote, I'll decide if it's more profitable to have them do it or loose the time from work and do it myself. There was a time when I enjoyed working on my vehicles, not so much anymore- Rather Work on Trains.....

Then I get to rip someone at AAA, fun-fun-fun.

Was another wild weekend out on the forum, should be getting back to normal.

Ed: Welcome back, you seem to be quite the busy fellow these days. Doesn't leave much time for the layout. Thank you for the welcome and your sympathy for my loss.  I was listening to the game and got busy and didn't hear the unbelievable comeback in the 9th. Fenway is only a 45 min trip on the T from here. Will definately be going to a few games an accquaintance has season tickets.

Sue: Pearl is one great looking Lab, how old?

GMT: Are you heading up to NH for the races?

Michael: Hope we can hear from you, I know that yesterday had to be bad for you and your wife. When you can get yourself up to it, stop on into the diner. My prayers are with you both.

I didn't see the time, have to run out to the Dodge dealer and get this show on the road.

Have a great day.

Good morning.  Coffee, please.

Bob,  Pearl was 1 year in April.  I do have to keep an eye on her or she relandscapes the yard.

JR,  Great photo in the rearview mirror.

I am glad that everyone stays friendly here.  Some of the other threads make me think that some people have too much time on their hands.

Have a great week everyone.  Sue

I'll have three of those doughnuts with atleast one chocolate. Well it's time to put down the scenery for me. And I've decided on a green place with a salt mine and an invisible interchange track. Let's see on the rolling stock to buy is 8 2 bay hoppers, 9 coal loads, 10 covered hoppers, 8 40' box cars.

Good day everyone!

Hope all the mother's in your lives had a great Mother's Day yesterday!

On Saturday we found a local crawfish farm just 14 miles north of our house and bought 20 lbs., and then I boiled them up for Monique along with some whole garlic, onions, celery, new potatoes and corn. Yum! These were the cleanest craw dads we ever ate. If I would have known before the move that there was local crawfish in North Carolina I would not have given away my propane tanks, burner, and huge crawfish pot!

I made poached eggs with a Cajun crawfish cream sauce for Mother's Day breakfast, then grilled some London Broil and made some crawfish stir fried rice with all the leftovers from Saturday!

Oh, and we played four rounds of croquet in the back yard too! (I won twice!)

DerJohn, looking like good progress on the scenery there!

John Powell, say no more about New Orleans, I lived there for most of my life and I will never live there again. Only to visit family now! As much heritage and friends that we have lost due to Katrina we will only visit there as long as our parents are still alive, after that we will most likely never return. Of course we have been branded "traitors" by one side of the family, but that is another story.

Oh, and good luck on the other front!

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] back!

Welcome back Ed! Sounds like it was a great trip...again! Okay, I guess the frozen orange juice will have to just do for now! We just have to make sure that Chloe and Flo keep the freezers running and that the back up generator is fixed too!

Thoughts and prayers continue for Bob K. (bogp40) and Mike (8500HPGasTurbine).

We missed them in Centralia and Chehalis on Saturday due to a graduation, but Larry's uncle saw them in Chehalis.

Thanks for the update.

Afternoon everyone.  It's been a few weeks since I stopped by so thought I would drop in for lunch.  I'll have one of those big burgers with fries and a Mt. Dew, Chloe. Oh, and some gravy on the fries please.

Bob K. and Mike, I won't pretend to even know how you guys feel right now.  I do know that it will get easier.  I lost my father seven years ago.  I still miss him and hardly a day goes by that I don't think about him.  But the memories are all pleasant ones now.  Mike, the decision to keep the trains is probably a good one.  Being angry is part of the normal grieving process.  In a while the trains will help bring back good memories of time spent with your son.

Not much done on the trains lately.  With good weather now I'm spending more time on yard w**k, been putting in some OT in the office, and spending time with a new lady friend.  I forgot how time consuming women are.  Nothing personal Sue, just a fact of life.

I did download CADrail 8 yesterday to start designing my dream layout for the garage out back.  Will start learning how to use it when I get home this evening.

Guess that's about it for now.  See you later.

Sue,

I've made no secret of my hobby with her.  The other day she said I would have to teach her about trains.  When I mentioned I like to go to the East Broad Top Railroad when they open the first weekend of June she said she would keep the day open to go along.  She may be a keeper.

Afternoon folks!

Been a busy weekend and a busy workday so far!  Just thought I'd pop in for a minute to see whats up and grab a burger.

I'll stop by later to check you all out.

Bob K., I'm glad things are looking up for you lately!  I'm still praying for you and your family.  I got your Email.  I'll respond a bit later.  The work thing keeps getting in the way of everthing I'm trying to do, ya know? Wink [;)]

Mike 8500, prayers for you and yours.  The invite to Email is still open if you feel like you want to.

Hello everybody.  I'll take a root beer float again today.

Are there any fans of real frozen custard fans out there?  Can't get froazen custard any here.  It's still available in Michigan.  There was a frozen custard stand near where I gre up in Illinois that I began my froazen custard habit.  Mmmmmmmm...... Mmmmmmm.... Mmmmmmm !!!

Philip ........  Ryan's here so he'll have 4 of those burgers.  That'll follow the 20 lb of crawfish he claims he shared with others.

Ryan:   I can't help but wonder about NOLA.  If a group of people chose to live below sea level, that's fine.  However, I don't know why they expect the rest of the country to pay for construction and maintenance of their levees.  (oops!...was that political?  sorry bergie...)

Good for Attaboy!  Sounds like a good couple to me!

Continued prayers for Michael and Bobk as well as their families.

Bye

Plenty of that frozen custard up here around Indianapolis (at least around the northeast side).  That's good stuff!  I think you need to move up here.  That'll solve two problems at once.  First, you can get your frozen custard.  Second, you won't be from Kentucky any more! Yep, there is Goodberry's here in North Carolina, serving frozen custard and their famous "Concrete" mixes.

Philip ........  Ryan's here so he'll have 4 of those burgers.  That'll follow the 20 lb of crawfish he claims he shared with others.

Actually, since I am on a diet now, only two of those burgers for me today, 1/2 the calories too!

Well, actually, most of that federal $$$ is now tied up with the local and state governements who are fighting over how to spend it, or pocket it, or something like that. Crooked politicians, just another reason for jumping the ship. More to it than that, but I hear ya! Kinda similar to my thoughts on reparations for stuff that happened before our life times, not gonna change a thing in my mind. Hey, Cajuns deserve a break too!  Black Eye [B)] Oh...don't get me started....

Had to stop in for a cold drink, I'll take anything. Spent the morning chasing tha replacement parts for the truck. Dealer control arm is 3-4 days out. Had to go with a junk yard one.  No sense towing to the dealer, now I'm wrenching on it in the driveway.

I swear, not having it in a shop w/ impact and a torch is nuts. It's medevial, like building a house with a hand saw and pounding nails. Going to rustle up the impact gun and sockets. Hope my small compressor will run it. Where's cudaken when you need him?

Wish me luck, going for the ball joints and new shocks. Those Sam Adams's in the fridge need to wait 'til it's back together.

Hello...

No huge burgers here for me!

Well, next time I'm in NC, Ryan, or in Indiana, Philip... , I'll just have to have some Frozen Custard! .....   My NMRA division meets in Induanpolis, Philip, and I've never gone there.  It's a long drive from here.

Anybody interested can see my Mrs. Hippy River Bridge posted on the large bridge thread.

Happy Model Railroading.

Good Evening, Diners - Chloe, I don't even begin to have room for one of those burgers PC showed us (I think I've seen that burger before, though). I'll just have a root beer float for now. Thanks!

Sounds good there, Attaboy! You might start teaching her the finer points of railfanning - if things go well enough, you could have a railroading honeymoon. (Oops [oops] Did I say that out loud?

Garry and Ryan, you just need to come to Cape Girardeau - we have an Andy's frozen custard stand (run by one of my fellow church members), which looks reminiscent of some classic drive-ins (with the walk-up window in the front, and the drive-up window on the side). There was another one that tried to give them a run for the (custard) money, but that imitator is out of business now. I'll see if I can find a pic, but if anyone is in Cape, it's about at the corner of Kingshighway and Cape Rock (next to the Arena Park entrance).

Well, my laptop's problems didn't get any better, so it's out of commission until I either get it fixed or replace it (the latter is probably likelier). Hard part was, I got used to having my iTunes playing at work, and today not only did I not have that, but the Windows 98 POC that is in my office is running the Molasses operating system, I'm sure. I tried defragging the drive, and it gave me a message to run ScanDisk on the drive. Couple of hours later (on a less than 55 GB hard drive with less than 10 left), ScanDisk tells me that it didn't find any problems. Huh??? Confused [%-)]Banged Head [banghead].... mutter, mutter Censored [censored] Windows POC! After work I checked on eBay for a decent Mac laptop (used), but anything equal to or newer than my model runs more $$ than I have available anytime soon. Sigh [sigh] Need to send an email to my Mac upgrade and repair dealer and see what their suggestions are.

MRR club tonight, and got an email that they want everyone there for some kind of decision on the layout. So I'll go see what's up on that.

Oh, forgot who asked, but yes, Chloe and Zoe have a special stash of those munchies for Pearl and other four-legged Diner critters (no, not those humans who are under the booths and tables, getting up from their naps there...).

Blessings on everyone's evening,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hello Jim in Cape.......   Looks like Cape G really is not far from here as the crow flies.  Driving might be a bit farther however with Old Man River in the way!  Might be worth a trip just for some Frozen Custard!   Ryan, however, might have a longer drive.  But he and Philip have local sources!

Has that guy eaten his burger yet, Philip?

Have fun!
