RT, you've got an interesting point. Take the iowa division- ICG sold it in 1985 because they were selling everything that wasn't making much money and trying to get back on their feet. Then, in 1996 IC bought back the Iowa division because they thought it might be a valuable addition to the railroad.

Oh yeah. I remember you telling me about that. I can't believe it was out of service.

It's too bad ICGs SD45 was scrapped in 1987. It was so close to being in the death star paint scheme.

Atlas GP40 factory paint

Athearn BB GP40-2 that I decaled but not painted. My first decal job. Thats why it isn't as good as it should be.

Athearn BB GP38-2 that was ATSF and I painted and decaled it to IC

IC used the orange-and-white from 1966 unitl 1975 (from 75-88 it was ICG and they used several different schemes)
This is my Atlas U33C

IC used the green diamond from the beginning until 1966 for freight diesels
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=108889

IC used orange and brown for passenger engines (E units)
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=108891 some had the green diamond logo on the front, some had the split rail logo (split rail is like on my U33C)

IC used this attractive scheme for the E9s and passenger cars used for business trains in the 1990s http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=273786

Can someone please tell me if any ICRR SD-40 ever had the "Green Diamond" logo used on it? (I know that they did use the "Green Diamond" on some GP-40s. I found pictures of those. But I haven't been able to find pictures of an ICRR SD-40 with the "Green Diamond" logo. Thanks for your help!

Would it matter if you used a SW9/1200 or SW7 for the SW14?

Lanny, no SD40 ever wore the GD. A few GP40s did. IC switched to the orange and white about a year after they got their first GP40 and they didn't get SD40s until a bit after that.
