congrats on your 815 posts icmr. I have a rough idea how the illinois central railway came about- started in Jan. 2006 we bought up a bunch of the old IC mileage in Iowa and bought some from other roads as well. We hope to get trackage rights on the IC line that ran from Chicago to New Orleans, but we can't see the advantage until New Orleans gets back on it's feet. We are working on getting into Kansas as well. We will be buying engines from CN that are still in IC paint. We will buy engines from NS too (DASH 8-40C's) We are a Class 3 railway now. BNSF has trackage rights on our line. We have trackage rights on BNSF and the Iowa,Chicago and Eastern. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Class_III_railroad
We hope to be upgraded to class 2 soon.(but we need to make money before that happens)

Thats a good story. I know that NS and CSX will be running on my line. I have a dummy version of NS / SOU GP59 #4610 that I might use for my NS run through.

an IC&E engine will not be on my layout for a while though, I need some track, a pair of b-b GP38-2's to paint IC DEATH STAR, and i want to get those 2 IC train tapes before the sale ends. I found a roster for the IC&E and I'm amazed at how small it is:
GP9...7
SD40...20
SD45...2
SD9...2
GP40-2...10
SD40-2...55

I had another idea- the IC Ry. can buy engines from BNSF. I'll just paint over the BN logo under each window and put illinois central decals there. this photo shows some engines BNSF has in storage and the IC Ry. hopes to buy a few cascade green SD40-2's.

I'll get this SD40-2 to patch http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH80172 other than the 2 old b-b I will get to paint I'm going to stick with new Athearn RTR and Atlas engines since they are DCC-ready. I won't buy any more used engines.

i did not take those pics[*^_^*], the only pics i've taken are ones of my layout and my trains, that BN SD40-2 would look cool in cascade green if it said "illinois central" underneath the windows (like on a death star). Hopefully by the time i switch to DCC most of my engines will be DCC-ready. I don't know if i'd convert the old b-b's to DCC or just retire them. But I'll cross that bridge when i come to it.

stUPid doesnt have trackage or lease rights with IC/SIRC either. Sounds good with the SD40-2's. If you want to convert the Blue Boxes Digitrax has the decoders. I guess your railroad is making a little money then. I like your signature pic dingoix.
