I have been reluctant to weather my freight cars and locos because I am afraid of ruining something. But after seeing the results posted here, I know I will have to give it a try. They really llok great. Thanks for the inspiration everyone!

Some really awsome work posted here. Mine won't come close to those already posted, but here is my latest weathering attempt. It's an Atlas C40-8W that I patched from Conrail to NS.

Question for MrKLUKE and AGGRO: What wheels are you using on those freight cars. They look great. Is it only? because of the weathering, or are they special wheels? I'll hang up now and listen for your answers. Thanks.
These are my first attempts at weatherning cars. They will probably get some more with the airbrush but other than that, I really am just having at it with very little experience or practice.

Wow! Looks pretty good to me! I really like the simulated fuel spills. What color did you use for the dirt kick up?

Sometimes the water coming out of the sky could be considered a lake. The color rusted very well.

George, After one leak this year, fixing the roof would be top priority. The sun is shining here so I need to take the tractor down and put rock in the holes in the driveway. If Larry brings the truck up to the house, it will pack things nicely.
I did another layer of water on the pond. Looks like the back pond will need still another layer. I also did some ground goop with rock talus slope on the other end of the bridge, so I am at a stopping point anyway.
I am Not such an experienced weatherman. I did not start this deliberate weathering until last year. I do have cars that nature has weathered with dust as they have just sat on a shelf for 20 or 30 years, surprising what a few decades and simple room dust will do to a model.
I've also only really tried weathering with one medium, Bradgon powders. I have also just started to use my airbrush (I've had all of three weeks expereince with the air brush so no airbrush weathered pics in this lot).
I picked up one set of graffiti decals and have had a wee bit of fun with them, I'm looking for a few more of them at the not LHS (nearest one is three hours away to is is the not local hobby shop). Maybe I'll get some at SuperTrains in Calgary on the Family Day weekend in Feb.
