I noticed SP is in its rightful place in the poll.

My favorite WRXR would be UP, but I'm glad to see SP on top, they might have been bought out, but there loco's are still seen out there, and far as I'm concerned they still show a bit of strength that Southern Pacific once had!!

I voted UP because I grew up in Las Vegas and rode the streamliners as a boy, but D&RGW would be a close second. I assume this doesn't count roads like V&T, T&T etc. - Nevin

I voted for Northern Pacific mainly because I like their logo.
Enjoy

I voted or "other", for the obvious reasons below:

1) Florence & Cripple Creek
2) Denver, South Park & Pacific
3) Colorado & Southern (narrow)
4) CB&Q
5) Milwaukee

The Main Street in my town is named after the president of the N.P. Henry Villard. Wth that kind of background, how can you not vote Northern Pacific?

I agree with you, but I see the reason why they were left out. They are the western CANADIAN roads, and even though CP and CN are the greatest railroads in the universe (CP Rail specifically being the best as opposed to the CPR in general) they don't count.

Yah, what DID happen to Rio Grande? My vote is there, too, with SP a really REALLY close second. L-131's and F-81's and M-78's on the Rio Grande, AC-6's and 'Decks' on SP--how could you NOT be impressed by those two Mountain Giants? Moffat Tunnel--Tennessee and La Veta Passes--the Royal Gorge--THROUGH the Rockies, not around them (like panty-waist UP). Donner Summit, the Siskyous and Cascades and Tehachapi and Cuesta on SP--Man, Rio Grande and SP are THE Western Mountain railroads!!

Hard to believe that the Rio Grande falls into the "Other" category, but that is why I voted the way I did.

No offense to anyone, but I'm getting a little ticked about people complaining about how there is no Rio Grande in the poll. I will add it to the poll right now so all of you who want to can vote for the Rio Grande.

How about the Camas Prairie? The Nez Perce? The SP&S? And the list goes on. Not all of us are enamored of the larger railroad companies. It is easier to find a decent small road to model, there is a better chance of truly representing the railroad, IMHO.

Nothing against the big boys on the block, they certainly do have their place. But the little guys are interesting as well.

If you want a truly western road, then you want the Alaska Rail Road.

OK, a message to everyone, I was not trying to name every railroad I could think of, just ones that most everyone would be familiar with. Thanks.
