BigDaddyDoug, congratulations to your daughter. Not sure about her choice of locations. My Niece-in-Law is a PA in the ER. None of her colleagues are taking covid tests because they have to be off 5 days without pay.
Thank you.
Boyfriend/Fiance has a good job with Anheuser Busch in SEA, that is the immediate reason. They would jump at the chance to relocate to Denver with Bud.
Yes, it seems the COVID protocols maybe at the point where its more severe than the disease itself, since the remedy seems to be much the same as the standard flu these days...but I haven't paid attention to the issue for a couple of years now.
Daughter was offered a job with great pay and great hours...5:30a to 1:30p...beats SEA traffic. What was the catch? It was for a downtown clinic dealing with psyche patients. You know, probably a lot of psyche in downtown SEA, by just watching the events over recent years. I suggested that she pass on the offer.

That sounds like the kind of job you need to be personally passionate about or you will be in for a lot of misery.

"Florida Woman Stops Alligator Attack Using a small .22 caliber Ruger Pistol."This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave, cool-headed woman with a small pistol against a fierce predator. Here's her story in her own words: "While walking along the edge of a pond just outside my house in the Villages discussing a property settlement with my soon-to-be ex-husband, and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water. It began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive.""If I had not had my little Ruger 22 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today! Just one shot to my estranged husband's knee cap was all it took.""The gator got him easily, and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. The amount I saved in lawyer's fees was really incredible and his life insurance was also a big bonus!"

Hi Bro. Elias!
That was the best laugh I have had in a long time!!!
Thanks!!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Good afternoon, everyone. It's 5:00 o'clock somewhere, so I will have an ice cold beer.
All summer I put off painting the house since I claimed it was too hot. Well .... we've now had cool temps, (80° right now), so I can't put it off any longer. The upper part of the fireplace chase is 18 feet high, and it had two boards that I knew were rotten. I replaced those today, got everything up there caulked, and it's ready to paint tomorrow.
The chimney is the part that I dread painting because of the height. After tomorrow, I can enjoy painting the rest of the house. Of course, my youngest daughter had to call and remind me that her neighbor's father died when he fell off a ladder painting his house. I hung onto the ladder very tightly.
Brother Lion, that was a funny story. I'm copying it to send to my brother.
Welcome back, TF!
I hope everyone is doing well this afternoon.

Hi Everyone,
Brunhilda, coffee with cream, please.
Dropping in to say hello. Some years ago now, I think around 20 my wife flew into SeaTac and drove down to Crescent City. Then we drove back north on the Oregon coast hwy all the way up to Long Beach, WA. After our meetings in Vancouver, we drove East to Pasco and went back west all along the Columbia River crossing back into Oregon at Hood River. Great trip! Beautiful scenery. Good wines and good beers. That was probably the last that I could drink beer, so I went down with a smile on my face. Eastern Washington is a good wine producing region for both whites and reds.
Kevin: Your youngest is going to find that it can get fairly frosty in Washington. They can get snow. Of course they don't get it like North Dakota or Chicago, but it can still get cold.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the brews from the region, but there are/were lots of good ones including my favorite Olympia, which is now deceased.

Good morning, diners. Just coffee this morning, Flo.
Another day of climbing a ladder. My knees don't like this.
The new dog is wearing me out. It is the most active dog we've ever had. I really didn't want another dog, but I was overruled by someone else. I wish the dog could climb ladders.

Have a good day, everyone. If you're within driving distance of central Nebraska, feel free to come by and grab a paint brush. I'll hold the ladder.

No, you probably don't want the dog climbing a ladder, particularly if you're on it. It's bad enough trimming the high branches of the Christmas tree when the cats want to follow me up.

Even on the roof of the house he'll help me clean the chimney. He disappears when it is gutter-cleaning time, though. Typical for a cat!

Hello everyone.
I made a post to the Diner this morning, but it does not seem to have regsitered.
Oh well. Happy Thursday!
I just tried to post my usual good morning. It disappeared. So it seems I am having trouble responding in the diner.
Other threads are working.
Good morning. I'm heading out the door to a friend's award luncheon. He's being honored for all the work he does for the town.
House painting continues. I have a feeling this is the last time I will paint the house. Either I'll be somewhere else or I'll be too old and will have to hire it done.
Have a great Friday!

Years ago, when I was a lad and so were you, we had a cat and a parakeet. The bird lived in a cage with both front and back doors. One day, we heard a ruckus and found the cat with his head and front legs out the back door and his tail and back legs out the back. The bird was still in the cage.
We decided to rehome the bird. These days, they probably would have said to find a Para-Psychologist and treat the bird for PTSD.

How often do you guys paint your houses?
This house was freshly painted when I bought it in 1999. I has it painted in 2021, but uit did not look bad yet.
I don't plan on painting it ever again.
Paint my house?!? Never! Its all brick with a bit of aluminum siding!
Cheers!

My house has wood clapboard siding. It is in very good shape, and the last time I painted was about 12 years ago.
About 25 years ago, I put in a fireplace with a clapboard sided chase on the house. Up at the top, where the fireplace cap meets the wood, I did not flash it correctly, and two of the pieces of siding were beginning to rot. I needed to replace those, and so I decided to just paint the whole house again. It will look a lot better and lot fresher.

Yeah, she's got Bette Davis eyes, but she's not quite our Snowflake. Our little cat is a Lilac Point Siamese, a wild-born rescue with no pedigree. She has all the grace and elegance of her high-falutin' cousins, though.
Beautiful kitty Brother Lion!
Evenin' folks!
I have finally started to add distance to my runs over at the Fieldhouse at the college.... Pre Covid I was (found some old emails that had the info) actually running 30 or more laps inside the place (with some rests). Starting back up after they opened the fieldhouse to the community again I was doing 16 laps (4+4+4+4). Then I caught COVID! When I had recovered a bit I was down to running 8 laps at first. Had a lot of soreness and muscle aches. I gradually got back up to 12 laps and stayed there for some time. A couple months ago I returned to my 16 laps (with 3 breaks). This week I am now back up to running 6 laps and then a short break and getting in 18 laps total (3 sets and about 3.2 miles total). Little by little! A bit sore this evening but it is a "good" soreness......
Today the place was pretty much deserted except for Hobart Football Training. Also was about 80° inside but better than 80* outside in the sun!!!
