That's the way they always say it in those Roy Clarke sitcoms - "Last of the Summer Wine", "Open All Hours" etc. - set in Yorkshire.

That was nice of you. I miss going out to a nice restaurant now and then. I had a carryout steak sub last night. In a styofoam box, the bread gets soggy, the french fries aren't hot, but it was still good.
While restaurants are getting a bad rap, someone pointed out that there is no proof that restaurants are more risky. The people that go to a restaurant are a different subset from the people that have all their groceries delivered to the front door and all their detergent and and toilet paper delivered by Amazon for the last 9 months.
Maybe most of those going to restaurants are some of the people who have been working in grocery stores, home depot, liquor stores, hospitals and construction. They take risk everyday. Doctors offices are the only place I go where everone wears a mask.
I am sad that Brakie has made his way to RIP Track. He had written about his medical problems and he had some tough times. He will be missed.

cudakenI odered my elderly neighbors some BBQ as well. Dwight WWII Vet 93 got a Pork Stake Dinner and Mary age 86 (Joes window all so a WWII vet) got a pull pork sandwich on my dime.
You're a good neighbor, Ken! I only hope I can still eat BBQ pork at 93! I can use my Dremel to clean my dentures afterward.
Good to talk with you the other night
I use my hand-held vacuums all the time. One in the kitchen, TWO at the layout and one in the caboose.

I have not seen Track Fiddler around in a bit.
The contractor is supposed to be here in the morning... looking forward to getting this all done.
Happy wishes to all, and to all, a good night.

Living the dream.
Good morning all from a wet and windy England (except those living in the pennines and Borders Regions where it is snowing.)
I love to cook meals, so we use a company that deliver each week the ingredients for meals. Every Monday we order the meals for the following week. The choices each week are from 30 meals and differ each week.
Every Friday we decided to have 'Burger Friday'. Todays burger is Halloumi cheese with roasted pepper, wedges and salad.
Not knowing 'Brakie' it is still sad to hear of the passing of a modeler; and a respected one at that. RIP.
The last time the grandchildren visited they wrote their letters to Santa and posted them in the letterbox, Dawn, my wife, made. Yesterday they called in for a few minutes. They checked the postbox to see if their letters had gone. Off course they had. The grandchildren went away happy.
Off course it is nice to see him as well. Last year our younger granddaughter, (then three year old) Julia, saw Santa's reindeer --
Then saw 'The Man' himself
Today we shall take a little trip up the line 'then and now' to Alston in Cumbria.
Then--
Now--
Thanks Ed for showing how to post films.

Good morning diners. I am up early and need a coffee. Chloe, can you bring me a large cup of whatever you have strong and black.
The contractor is supposed to be here between seven and eight to assess the scope of the project, post the permit, and drop off material.
Good morning everyone. Flo, a large cup of joe please.
TRACK FIDDLER! You out there? Hope he's okay.
I have a sinking feeling my wife is getting me something for the railroad for Christmas (great) that doesn't come close to fitting my modeled era (not so great). She was asking a couple questions about it while on the computer the other night and kept expressing her displeasure with era appropriate stuff. She stated as she got off the computer that I have to put anything they get me on the layout whether it fits or not. Oh boy. I've done it before. Looks like I'll be doing it again.
Have a good day guys!

ME TOO!
My wife buys cute things for the layout, and they need to find their way there.
I will take this situation over having a wife that hates the layout.
We have been married nearly 33 years, and I believe there has been a layout in our house 28 of those years.

Me, three! My wife told me that a package was coming in the mail and I should not look at the return address. That means it's from some railroad store. I will make whatever it is fit, even though it's something I wouldn't have ordered myself.
Have a good Friday, everyone. We have countertop being installed today. Then I write the check. The layout won't be having any new additions for several months.
York1 I will make whatever it is fit, even though it's something I wouldn't have ordered myself.
My wife has a thing for HO scale cows. I must have a couple hundred of them now. I think there is going to be a massive dairy farm outside of Centerville.
I hope your countertop installation goes well. We went with a white quartz countertop and have been very happy with it.
One of the corners is not 90 degrees, and I did not notice it until I installed the refrigerator. It drives me crazy, but my wife does not care.
Good morning
Thanks for the concern Kevin, Mike. I'm fine, don't want to complain about the same eye ailment I've been having off-and-on lately. Especially hearing the news about Larry that saddened me. I as others enjoyed his posts. He will be missed around here.
Hope your contractor will finally show up this morning Kevin. I think he might as well have his guys put the window and door in while he's there. Instead of just dropping it off!
Me Four! Judy's favorite color is yellow and takes an interest in the layout. I told her I would add a Union Pacific E9 AB set some day. That was 2 years ago. I've been hinting for that for Christmas this year and of course I'll be getting her something. But if she forgot about 2 years ago and I get that E9. It will be like getting two birds with one stone

Here aret wo more photos from the museum in York, England. They have a few very old locomotives from the early 1800's.
Here is a one horsepower "locomotive".
I wonder about the treadmill. I would think if they simply hitched the horse to the coal wagom, it could have walked on the gorund to pull the coal wagon.

Kevin .... That is a lot of HO cows.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
You know, last year my wife and youngest daughter got me a few things for the layout, one of which was a set of food trailers that in no way, shape, or form fit my 1940's era. After she saw them assembled and on the layout, she stood there looking for a minute and said "I get it now. They don't fit." She must have forgot about that little revelation.
Track Fiddler, glad to hear you are otherwise okay. Sorry to hear you are still experiencing troubles.
Kevin, either approach works with the cows. Maybe both. Just past the dairy farm could be "D.R.Y. Milkers Meat Processing"
Garry, I wonder if the treadmill was so the horse was up on something and couldn't get run over by the car if it stopped?

Is the treadmill by any chance attached to a gear/pulley reduction system?
Maybe that would give the horse a mechanical advantage over the heavy cart.
Wondering...
Thanks Garry. The grandchildren keep me on my toes.

The contractor just left. He made a parts list, measured everything, and is going to buy supplies and materials for Monday.

Feeling good about it for the first time in many weeks.
Good Afternoon,
Happy to report that Robbie is doing a lot better today as in sleeping all day. First time since his surgery that he has been comfortable enough to do that. My wife is sleeping all day too,as she is exhausted from being up looking after him at night.
I spent the day looking up stuff on the net. Our flagship downtown Hudsons Bay store location just closed. Sad really as it is the end of an era for downtown. It was built in 1926 and had 675k S.F. over 6 floors plus a basement. In the last few years it was down to 2 floors. 30 years ago we also had the 885k S.F. Eatons department store too. Between the 2 you could get nearly anything. We did most of our shopping at the 2 stores and at Christmas for the cost of a few dollars parking, we could shop without big crowds and get everything largely under one roof. I could never understand that people for the cost of parking could put up with the crowds at malls, not to mention not even finding parking in the full lots.
TF, do get your eyes checked by an opthamologist if you haven't already done so. It was just by accident that I found out I had glaucoma. I had floaters suddenly so I went to Emergency specializing in eyes as I was afraid I'd torn the retina. Well I hadn't but they sent me right away to the specialist I see now as the pressure was very high. Turns out those puff pressure machines used by optimitrists are crap as they had said the pressure was ok. I could have lost some eyesight otherwise.
Amazing the stuff on the net. My great uncle was killed in WW1 and I found a photo of his grave marker in France. He died 2 months before the war ended.
Have a good evening,
CN Charlie
Good evening everyone,
Just returned from an afternoon of errands and shopping. Nothing crazy to report, everyone I encountered was masked. Stopped at the bird feed store and bought a hundred pounds of black sunflower seed.
DAVE, I stopped in at the Post Office armed with three pages of documentation and prepared for a rhubarb! They ran the tracking number and found out the RDC is BACK ON OUR CONTINENT! I hope there are travel stickers all over it showing the ports-of-call the package visited on its six-week holiday!
I have three other packages that are lost in Priority Mail Limbo. A package from Tichy in North Carolina just arrived moments ago exactly three days from ordering. It was shipped UPS. Go figure?
I picked up a huge order from the Chinese Restaurant so I'm off for a little saki and General Tso.

David .... Interesting photos of an old engine and its replica. You said that replica actually runs, and that is remarkable.
Kevin ..... You might be correct, There could be gears in the treadmill.
Mike .... Well, I'm sure the horse want not want to be run over by a load of coal.
Everybody .... Have a nice evening.

I really have no idea. I tried to find something about this contraption online, but did not have any luck.
Then I got distracted by something else I saw...
Evening folks!!! Not nessessarily a "good" evening, but!
Got a text from my DIL early this morning.... She was letting me know my 8th. grade grandaughter has been diagnosed with "that we cannot name in the diner!!!" She had what they thought was a cold or the start of the flu and took her to her doctor yesterday. Out of caution (because the doc didn't think she had anything worse either) she received the test. Came back first thing this morning as positive! Seems that last Saturday she spent some time with a very good friend from school. That kid also is positive and that is where my granddaughter acquired it. Family is on both an isolation for the kid and the rest are in quarentine for 2 weeks. I was out at their house on Sunday one day after she was exposed so I should be OK, but...... I am waiting to get a call from the County Health Dept. They may tell me to quarantine for 2 weeks as well but who knows... I think I will anyway as I have been pretty much quarentining anyway.
My granddaughter has not even really been at school this year. She opted (after about 3 days) to go completely virtual classes. She did go in for band several times but they met outside on the football field rather than in the band room.
OK, couple more photos of the area of England where my other son lives:

Hello Railfans! Top of the day to ya. In England aye? Well, Id try the famous fish and chips, but only without the fishy part. Nasty stuff that seafood. Which kinda goes along with Ed's picture above in reference to diary farm alternatives! (I like mine medium well please) Im still laughing on that! (No offense to the wife mentioned whos prolly waving a frying pan in the air about it)
I noticed we lost a Railfan recently... Brakie. Very sorry to hear this. Only talked a few times. Good guy! Never the less the passing of a fellow Railfan always means theres one less decent person on this rock.
On to happier business... Here are the pictures I said I had posted of some of the 3d models Ive been printing. I included in the captions (on the page that actually shows MR pics) some pertinant info to help anyone who might have questions or concerns of how these were made.
A simple 30' freelanced flatcar>
<insert your idea of a picture here> or see Henrys links to the pictures below.
Hard to believe but true, the stake pockets and sprung trucks actually function.
A PM X500 Class Express Car>
This was a tough one. The dreadnaughts on the end really require a smaller printing tip than I used. Not to mention the trucks too, all of them. This will print in better detail, but the trade off is it will take longer. Drop your tip size in half = double the print time. I print at .40mm. Im going to .25mm which is .04 from being a scale 1" (0.290). Im even thinking of going to a .010 tip. Detail should be astounding, after waiting two days to print it! Now thats a "sticky wicket"!
To this end Ive decided to get another 3d printer to use for small detail. The one I have will remain for printing the broad, large pieces. Im still amazed at what Ive gotten so far with just a cheap Chinese knock off printer.
And lastly, as it should be(!), a caboose to bring up the rear>
All the models work like they should. And arent as bad looking as I thought a 3d printed model would look. And certainly no where close to some of the models Ive seen you guys do and post pics of. Nothing a coat of paint and some decals wont fix, right? None are of terribly accurate dimension, I used pics not dimensional drawings.
This was only sposed to be 1 model, I got a little exhuberantly carried away and made two other types.
Speaking of decals, I heard on the wind that Fritz MilHaupt is retiring from decal making (PM decals). Havent confirmed this yet, but dang, just as I got my caboose project off the ground! Anyone know if this is true? If so, spose Ill be learning how to make white PM decals next! And I already know thats tantemount to trying to get to the moon using pogo stick. We'll miss Fritz if this is the case!
Not much else going on. Got a pinch of the white stuff this week, but it was gone when the alarm clock went off. Was cold enough to bust the water main in front of this house though. Made for some interesting viewing for an hour, out the front window. Just a temporary fix. Got a 4'x4' chuck hole in one lane now that would swallow an 0-4-0 tank engine, not that any official around here minds. I dont think these folks around here have heard of roads yet.
Well folks thats pretty much it from the sticks. Great evening to all! As they say in the English old country.....

Oh yeah, I knew that.... Just like to use a bit of sarcastic off the wall humor as much as possible.... My community is now being hit fairly hard. Three of the main players at my church (ones that do the Zoom Service for us at this time) are sick with COVID as well. Two of them are hospitalized..... The other one is a disabled former teacher who actually puts together the video of the service. She told the secretary she just feels horribly sick and has no energy! I was asked to go in and help with the sound for recording the sermon and prayers but at the last minute (20 minutes before I was supposed to arrive) was told I didn't need to come in. The gent who does the video capture and the sound for the track (I would be controlling the main sound board) couldn't be there so two other guys did the video capture with equipment that can't be linked (easily) to the main sound system..... I just went WHEW!!!!!!!!

Thanks Henry for posting that. I tried to "edit" my post, but when you do that you loose the "add picture" and "add movie" ability and have to code it yourself. I am sooooo over HTML and coding in general!
Apparently, MR says you cant post from their archives due to the fact its a login type of gallery (meaning you have to have an account to see them - which we all do or we wouldnt be here). Ironic huh.
I can understand that for security reasons i wont mention (gives it away!). So folks, either I lower my standards and post on any one of the pirateware websites out there that let you do this (NOT HAPPENING!) OR, I can get a website going again (not likely) OR, I could just put up a server here at the house (not my house - cant do). Lastly, if your that interested, - just email me..... maybe that still works??????
So a round of applause for Henry, and a stern look towards MR's servers/programmers. IT was alot more fun 30 years ago!
