On a V of Geese , do you know why one side of the "V" is longer?     Yep! Because there is more birds on that side. They're probably on that side because they like the other geese better.

I might need to pick your brain on 3D resin printing. These things have become so rediculously cheap lately that it seems every modeler should have one stashed under the layout — or in the loo if that's the only place you have room!

Hey Ed!

Good to hear from you. After a good nights sleep I remembered you can post photos to MR photo gallery. I just posted 3 cars Ive been working on. Give it 24 hours for MR to approve them. If you, or anyone else has any questions on 3D stuff just ask.

As for cost, thats relative. Yes, a model boxcar can cost only 20 cents in plastic to produce, but its all the $$$ youll need to get to that point. Not to mention the assundry parts youll have to buy per car... wheels, couplers, paint, decals. Now your car is up to $12 plus 20 cents, each.

Just buying a 3D printer (the cheap way) will allow you to print.... other peoples models. And you have to get that code (called 'G-Code'). What if what you want isnt available? To do more (the expensive way), youll need to lay out $$$ for software. You just cant buy a cheap 3d printer and print 'your own' stuff.

And if time was an -expense-, yeah lol, you might want to put your printer in the loo. You can spend a week or three from concept of model to it actually running on the rails with designing, printing, testing, fixing, reprinting, test again, fix, reprint, .....   you get the idea. Its very tedious if your a rivet counter like me.

Again, if you or anyone has a que with 3D filament printing, send it my way. Id say email me since I get to emails more frequent than here.

Before I go let me say HOWDY and Thank You for the welcome back to SeeYou190. Always a pleasure to meet a Railfan. Ofcourse HOWDY to all the other readers we have, hope everyone is well!

Geese

The lead goose creates turbulance in the air stream, making it easier for the other geese to fly. They will swap off the lead position periodically.

Geese will fly with teal ducks, which is considered one of the faster flying ducks. Most hunters miss geese they shoot at because they don't lead them enough.

I killed my first mallard 72 years ago--and haven't stopped since.

Gidday All, well we’re nearing the end of the month, and as Batman mentioned it, I better serve up a roast lamb dinner. Now I know that there are those of you who expressed their distaste for this meal, the last time I served it in the Diner, so while not pictured, I can offer up some of the leftover Curried fish and Lentils with cauliflower and broccoli, I cooked last night.

I’m “baching” for the week, so what with tonight’s roast leg of lamb, I’ve now got enough to last for a few days, cold meat with salad from the garden, alternating with left over curry. Besides growing up on the farm, hogget, (18 month old lamb, far better flavour), was the staple meat, so I consider that I was a lucky boy.

I regularly used to go to Murupara to work on these…

… and the Murupara Yard next door was where the log trains were loaded. Could hear them but didn’t get many railway photos as I wasn’t being paid to gawp at trains. Depending on the demand for export timber there could be some interesting locomotive combinations.
This photo shows, DC 4070, DC 4830, DL 9037 and DFB 7307.

Tonight’s videos are of trains, mainly in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, I live in the Western BoP.

Good morning all.   Thick fog has rolled in from the coast.  Visibility is down to a few yards;  and it is icy cold.

A day indoors is called for.

Great pictures, Bear (as usual).

Actually you can use free software Blender is a great 3D software to craete things with, I can create 3D animation with it as well. There is a learning curve with it but there are multiple tutorials out on the web.

Good morning.  Another Sunday without donuts.  Sad

It's a good day to stay inside.  It was 16°F and the wind was howling for my morning walk.  The wind gusts made me walk a little off balance.  If people watched me walking they probably thought I had been hitting the bottle pretty early this morning.

My wife is outside working on the bird feeders.  The wind and the raccoons knocked some things down during the night.  I work on trains and she works on bird feeders.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good morning

Not much going on today.  Just how I like it on a lazy Sunday.  Now that you mentioned it John I wish I had a few donuts today even though I don't eat that sort of thing very often.

Waiting for the noon game.  Those Panthers are some big boys.  I'm a bit of a realist and do believe the Vikings will be eaten for breakfast and handed their lunch on a silver platter this afternoon.  Especially if they show up wearing those pajamas they wore last weekLaugh

Other than that I hope you all have a very good day today! Yes

Weather is perfect today, so I am going to work outside on the landscaping.

The irrigation system is having problems along the south side of the backyard perimeter and the flower gardens up front.

Rainy season is over, so I need to get this working for the Winter months. I don't want any of my shrubbery to die.

I might plant a triple Christmas Palm today if everything gets working. I will see what prices look like.

Hope all are well.

Good Afternoon,

A chilly day here, about 20F and windy.

Not a good day yesterday and today is looking about the same. My wife is convinced that Robbie won't survive his liver cancer surgery tomorrow and has basically withdrawn. She also thinks we will get covid before Christmas. Not sure how but the fear is there nontheless. There is a possibility she is right especially regarding Robbie. I guess I remain hopeful and that drives her nuts. I have thought about him not making it and will be devastated if that is the result but without the surgery we won't likely have him for more than 6 months. He seems fine now but if that changes, it will be too late to do anything.

Bear, thanks for all the great vids and photos. I also really liked the roast lamb for dinner today. Been a long time since I've had any and I do enjoy it.

I vote for England as the next dinner move.

Well I have to go out now and buy bird seed as we are nearly out of one kind.

I just seem to plod along from day to day.

I'm all for England and the UK, David. I believe we were there not too long ago and the hosts were quite gracious and invited us back anytime.

I can do the mechanics of setting up the Diner, setting the hand-brake and plugging in the standby. If you'd like to show us around the countryside that would be great.

I'd like to go back and visit the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway again.

And see the Kempton Park engine running again:

I hope everyone is doing well, today —

I wish there was something I could do, Charlie. I feel your pain over Robbie. Been there.

Top-O-the Page! How about a slice of Pecan pie? Maybe a dollop of vanilla ice cream on the side?

My pets have always been enjoyed and loved during their lives but two a sad state of affairs.

Magnum that was poisoned only three and a half years old had liver failure because of the mean person that poisoned him.

I don't even want to say I know exactly the way you feel about Robbie.  But I somewhat do and my heart goes out to you Charlie.

I thought there was someone else from England, but wasn't sure.  If he showed you Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch he probably lived 'down  south'.

As most of my pictures are of 'up north'  there will be something different.Smile

So, Ed, please do the mechanics and set things up.

Afternoon folks!!!

SeeYou190
Is there a worse pie for you?

Probably not except Walnut pie is likely as bad.  BUT!  That is what makes it so wonderfull!  YUM!  Oh and put that vanilla ice cream (two scoops please) right on top!  Ya gotta have some of each in every bite, don't ya know!

I am about ready to get in the Tesla and head over to my son's house with a huge pot of turkey soup made from the remains of the poor turkey that died for our Thanksgiving feast.  That will be all of the turkey I will have for a few weeks at least....  Hope Christmas will be ham!

Sun is shining here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS today so I just finished my 5k run for the day.  Nice out and not too cold either (55°F).

The warm pecan pie at the Marietta Diner in Georgia with vanilla ice cream was a truly decadent delight.

Even though he's a little new around here I kind of like that guy! Yes

And I like cherry cheesecake if you ever had that one.  And if you didn't, you should have!

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang some left overs and a Beer and Dirk and Robbie a dog treat.

Sorry I have been MIA. Not a lot worth talking about.

Thanksgiving was great! Dirk, Sue and I enjoyed have Sharwn and Sharyon over for dinner. Dirk was on his best behavior! He was slipped a few pices of turkey and pie crust under the table.

Work Front. Jerry the Dunce had a great Black Friday with $6100.00 in sales! That ment I had a mess on my hands Saturday! Sigh After two hours I was still finding mistakes and fixing them!

Wife hording. She is slowily picking and choosing what to get rid of. Sadly I know she does not realizes what I expect.

Credit Score I now up to 754! Big Smile 2 years ago I was a 653 so I have made some big head way.

Later Ken and Dirk says Woof, Woof!

I let Toby out to greet my SIL.  He loves her but decided he loved freedom more.  He took off at warp speed.  He would then stop to sniff, but when I got close, warp speed again.  I was surprised he was so fast at his age.  Then he yelped and would not put weight on his hind leg.  I think he tore his doggy ACL.

An old friend called to tell me a Labor and Delivery secretary passed away from scleroderma.  I spent many hours on L&D and I should remember this woman, but I do not.  That's a little scarey.

He takes two tests a day for Covid:

Test 1, if he wakes up in the morning he passes.

Test 2, if his morning constitutional smells, he passes the second test.

Okay Gang,

We have several votes in favour of moving the Diner to Great Britain for December therefore I would like to make a formal recommendation to do just that.

Ed, thanks for volunteering to start things off.

Cheers!!

Good Evening,

Henry, sure hope your dog didn't tear his ACL. We had that repaired on one of our dogs but after a couple of weeks he was right as rain. We thought Robbie had torn his but the vet said it was likely a small tear and with small dogs sometimes it will heal on its own. After about 2 months of no running, no jumping and no playing it finally seems to be ok. Now it is 'just' the cancer surgery.

Well time for tea.
