Lost another boat in the gale the other night, 82 foot dragger, hit by a queer sea and sunk, all hands gone. They had been having trouble with the diesel return lines not working properly, returning the fuel to one tank only, throwing the stability of the boat off, and reportedly had hailed a large catch of pollock, the added weight would throw the stability off. One of my young friends came by to wish me a bird day, and said that he had seen them off in Portland at the start of their trip, sad times--four more names on the memorial.

Herrinchoker,

That is really sad news! I am in awe of people like you who make their living from the sea. You are so strong and brave! I wouldn't last 10 minutes on a rough ocean.

My condolences to their families.

I just ran across one of the best ebay auctions I have seen in a long time.

A guy is selling 15 pairs of Kadee HO scale couplers. They are all missing the knuckle springs. He saved all the Kadee couplers he got without springs and is now selling them because he has never been able to successfully install a knuckle spring.

Sad to hear about the tragedy, Herrinchoker. Seems like every tragedy has so many elements that add up like that. The fuel, the haul, the rogue wave.

So close to Christmas, too.  Sigh

Well,... I never realized the Christmas time show

Judy is snoring like a lumberjack on the couch as I'm watching the Griswold family Christmas she put in

Actually is utterly delightful

I'm laughing like a Mad Max from Thunderdome

Those locally sourced substitutes sound just the ticket, should be yum!

Sad to read about the loss of the fishing boat and her crew. Hi Gang!!

Wow, it's only three days to the end of the month! We need to decide where we are going to spend the Christmas Holidays. It has to be some place with a reputation for growing good turkeys! Okay, ummm, I guess that doesn't narrow the field very much. Everybody has good turkeys.Thumbs UpDinnerLaughLaugh

We could be totally irreverent and go to Cincinnatti, Ohio where Les Nessman of 'WKRP in Cincinnatti' fame arranged to drop frozen (see MoeLarryCurly's post below. Thanks for the correction MLC) turkeys from a helicopter over a mall parking lot as a promo for the radio station. Okay, forget that one too - the occassion was Thanksgiving, not Christmas.Hmm

Come on guys, help me out here! Where do you want to go for Christmas?!?

Cheers!!

Italian roast coffee in a Union Pacific mug, please.

I am regularily visited in dreams by both lost loved ones and pets. Often wake up before getting to converse with the relatives, but they are definitely present.

Hope to get down to the train room later today, but I get so dang tired it doesn't happen much now. Trying!

Have a great day everyone. Cheers! Cowboy

Bacon, eggs, & coffee, please.  Everyday.

Today I hope to finish the model Dairy Queen for the layout.  My wife gave it to me.  I don't mind the model, but it takes some of the fun out of it since I like to scratchbuild things.

This month went quickly for me.  Thanks, Bear, for all the New Zealand train pictures and videos.

We could be totally irreverent and go to Cincinnatti,

All fair warning...

I used to hang out at the underground Punk Rock houses on the Cincinnatti waterfront back in the 1980s.

These were the ones where you need to know someone, and get the codeword, to get inside of. Real hardcore stuff.

If we go to Cincinnatti, it will bring back all these good memories of my late teens, and there is no telling what I will be putting into the juke box.

The diner might never be the same.

Cool

Prayers and condolances to all who have lost friends, relatives and pets.  Pets are family too.

I didn't think I overate yesterday, but I had some fierce heartburn last night.  The gravy was extremely salty.  Someone else made the gravy.  My wife listed to Paula Dean instead of me and the crust on the pumpkin cheese cake cemented to the bottom of the pan.

Same here. I kept my portion sizes small, but about two hours after dinner I felt like I had eaten way too much and the heartburn kicked in.

I just ordered $150.00 worth of products from Kadee on their Black Friday promotion. I was not going to order anything this year, but they had a great price on #500 truck assemblies.

Hi Everyone,

Had a very nice Thanksgiving with the kids, DIL's parents and grandmother, and an uncle.

Everything was excellent!  The turkey (not from DC) was very tasty.  The mashed potatoes, my wife's sweet potatoes, the broccoli casserole, the cranberrys, it all was very satisfying.

The best thing was no football, or at least no one was watching, but the conversation was nonstop.
Funny thing. Most group conversations usually run from 72 to 85 decibels.  I'd guess this group was running about 90.  It was loud!

Good time!

I hope everyone had a most excellent day.

Less is more,...more or less!

Hoping everyone had a good Thanksgiving yesterday, or whenever time of year works best for your own Thanksgiving.

I had work yesterday, and it was just going to be my mom and sister as the rest of my family lives outside the state. My family will do a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Work went fine, no complaints there.

I spent time working on an F&C Reading gondola, that I had decaled the other day, put on a coat of Tamiya clear flat today, it's become my favorite flat coat, I then used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process and just couldn't resist putting a load in it. I'd used some pennies to add weight, than cover with various kinds of scrap pieces I had on hand. Still got to I think 3.6oz for a 40' car.

TF,

You are always coming up with delicious looking food! What is in your recipe?

We used to make cheese balls regularly, but we changed things a bit by going to warm cheese dips (not fondues). Dianne's sister Lynne turned us on to a tiny low temperature crock pot which keeps whatever cheese mixture you choose just soft enough for dipping crackers into without being runny. The usual recipe calls for shredded Asiago, old cheddar, cream cheese, salt, pepper, hot sauce and tons of garlic of course. The stuff is so good that people will regularly just stand beside the pot and pig out! It is funny to see how 'hooked' they get!

Here is the crock pot:

Cheers!!

I guess it gets dark at 4:20 now.  Am I supposed to accept this.  By 6 p.m. I feel like it's 10:00 at night.

Daylight savings time.   I thought when the sun came up in the morning the farmers went out and did their job.  Then when it gets dark out you get tired and go to sleep.

Why do the powers-that-be always have to mess with the clock?

Dave I will like to help you out with that pineapple cheese ball recipe but that's all Judy.

I will dig a little and see if I can come up with that one for you.

Along with beautiful winter weather, it was 84 degrees today, we also get longer days. The sun does not go down until after 6:00 down here.

I remember when I spent a winter in Oregon when I was in middle school. The sun went down at 4:00, and I was in shock!

How strange.
