I would prefer an offwhite such as a Mission White or similar.  Something that's a bit warmer.

My walls and ceilings are Antique White, very close to the color of White Chocolate. My floor tiles are "sand", and they have a hint of yellows and grays in them. The outside of the house is a beautiful off-white called "crushed silk" which is a bit of a blend of Antique White and Light Gray with a little bit of warmth.

Hi Everyone,

I'll second on Cholula sauce.  Tabasco is ok, but I've alway prefered Cholula.

I get it that painting the walls white is nice although I would prefer an offwhite such as a Mission White or similar.  Something that's a bit warmer.  But, if it would suit your fancy, don't be afraid of color.  The days of reigning neutrals and pastels has diminished in recent years and homeowners have opted for some really bold colors.  Admitedly it's not for everyone, but it's not bad either.

I bought a MDC SP PS-2 2 bay covered hopper at a train show awhile back.  Only cost $5, but the lettering is wrong.  So, going to try to stop in a LHS  see if I can get the right decals for it.  It's going to prove to be not sucha a deal afterall, but it will be an experience builder.

My wife has a lot of pictures and other junk, so it doesn't seem like we're in a snowstorm.

My wife is also very good at adding colorful things to the room to get rid of the ultra-sanitary look of all white. Paintings, rugs, "collectables", and so on.

And it is a lot easier to move that stuff around than to repaint.

Now we make everything white.

We switched to just about all white ten years ago.  Outside of the wood floor and the black kitchen cabinets, everything else is white.  My wife has a lot of pictures and other junk, so it doesn't seem like we're in a snowstorm.

But we still can't decide on a color!

We used to try and do colors, but color choices are subjective and go out of style.

Now we make everything white. Floor, walls, ceiling, cabinets, everything. It all still looks good 20 years later, and matching the new work is easy.

Good morning everyone! I already ate so Ill just have a cup of coffee.

Ill second the cholula! I have a bottle in my kitchen right now. I also recently found out taco bell sells their sauces so Ive been buying those.

Made a breakast samwich yesterday with the spicy ranchero sauce, scrambled eggs, bacon and taco style cheese on an english muffin. It was amazing.

Started spackling all the holes in the apartment, which I thought would be an hour project, turned into a whole evening. Still lots of work to be done before we can paint and get the new couch. But we still can't decide on a color!

As for they layout, I've been sneaking in time here and there. I finally started tackling the bridge and I partially finished one side of the abutment. It's my first time working with scratch styrene but I'm getting the hang of it. The midle part is from the walthers kits but the wings I made along with the top. Still needs to be smoothed out but thats another days project.

And BN 2084 finally turned into WC 2084.

Well off to work for me. I hope you all have a great day!

Got the smoker fired up and a nice, fat pork shoulder and some ribs in there. Plus the corn, to be served elote style!

 Smoker_pork by Edmund, on Flickr

Cholula is my favorite "everyday" pepper sauce, but I love 'em all. I used to deep fry all my "chips" also using the double-dip method, but since we got an air-fryer it has been our go-to method Dinner

McCain Beer Batter fries are the best when done in the air-fryer!

I got a bit of tile layed today along with getting the first coat of paint on the bathroom walls.

I bought enough of this tile (over 2,000 Sq Ft) 18 years ago to cover lots of home projects. The guest room will be the last of it. This is looking in towards the dining room.

Finally, all of the tile in the house will match.

Hi Henry,

I'm not into burning hot stuff either. Medium is okay.

We do like Old Bay Seasoning. We have a 16 oz shaker in the pantry. We love it on grilled corn on the cob! For a long time it was almost impossible to find in Canada, and when you did find it, it was tres expensive. Then along came Amazon!Thumbs Up

Tobasco mixed with mayo and some black pepper is the best fry-dipping sauce I know of.

Hi Kevin,

Fries and mayo hasn't caught on here in Canada. Sounds pretty rich! Of course, our love of poutine (fries, gravy and cheese curds) isn't exactly a healthy alternative!DinnerThumbs UpYeah

Cheers!!

Big in Maryland, but not everything needs or should taste like steamed crabs

My heartburn doesn't get along well with really hot spices.  I was on a hunting trip in New Mexico and they made me gringo chile while the other hunters two Mexican American brothers, one a Secret Service Agent, the other a pediatrician and the New Mexican guides, thought that having their noses run because it was so hot, was a good thing.

Good Afternoon,

A balmy 50F here with strong NW winds. Frost tonight. I guess fall is really here not to mention the leaves turning yellow and falling.

On the RR front I have been running the 5 axle C Liner with a passenger train. Must admit I like the look of those locos the best of all the cab units. F units are nice but there is just something about the FM C Liner.

The brass guy has my J4e and says it runs nice so he is putting in a can motor, and installing a sound decoder. It will go around 18" radius as the wheelbase is short and it has only 69" drivers. It will replace the BLI Pacific and likely the Mikado too. I have to take the CP Hudson back to him as it is stalling a lot. He says he can fix it and thinks he knows what the problem is as it appears to be a pickup issue. The stalling is worse on curves. It will go around 22" radius as it doesn't bind when pushed. It has that coasting drive so the drivers turn when you push by hand.

Our Robbie has injured the cruciate ligament in a back leg so he is on meds and restricted movement. Sure hope it heals up ok. He likely hurt it jumping up.

Not much else new here.

Nice work on the bathroom See You.

Good morning everyone.

Chloe: I will take cream and sugar with my coffee this morning, thank you.

It finally stopped raining down here. My lawn service showed up at 5:00 AM this morning. The rain must have put them behind and they started early to try and catch up.

Last night, the H&I network was showing the NYPD Blue episodes where Detective Simone died in the hospital. I had never seen these, and I was still awake when the lawn guys showed up.

I woke up feeling great, so today will be a great day.

An oldie, but still my favorite:

By the way, this is made at Avery Island, in Louisiana.  It is a neat place to visit, out in the swamps.

This is the stuff I use and it's made in Mexico.

BTW--I find the worst hot sauce is served in Mexican restaurants.

Kevin--When I moved into our current house, I just got our bed set up when I had to leave to take care of my dad for a month. My wife had to do all the painting. I didn't get to sleep in my own bed for a while.

Taylor Grocery is gone, and Gator Sauce is now made somewhere else. The new stuff is much hotter and has much less flavour. Not the same at all.

That's too bad Kevin.

This sauce is definitely not hot, but that suits us. We are gringos so go figure! Nevertheless, it adds a great taste! It is beyond what simple salt and pepper adds. The fresh herb taste is great!!

Cheers!!

We just received a bottle of green hot sauce so we gave it a try on a chicken cassarole tonight. We absolutely loved it! We will be ordering more!

The best "hot sauce" in the world used to be made at Taylor Grocery in Felda, Florida. It was called "Gator Sauce". Stopping at Taylor Grocery and getting a platter of fried turkey breast nuggets with Gator Sauce fresh from the barrel was a treat to be sure.

Taylor Grocery is gone, and Gator Sauce is now made somewhere else. The new stuff is much hotter and has much less flavour. Not the same at all.

Dianne and I are trying to expand our culinary repetoire. We just received a bottle of green hot sauce so we gave it a try on a chicken cassarole tonight. We absolutely loved it! We will be ordering more!

Apologies to the purists, but this stuff is made in Thunder Bay, Ontario! That's a long way from the southern States and Mexico but, at least according to our inexperienced tastes, they seem to have done something right!

We also just ordered a tub of Japanese miso paste. We will try it first in the pot sticker soup that Dianne made today. Next will be some miso glazed pork tenderloins with maple syrup and sesame seeds.

Anyone have any favourite miso paste recipes?

Bon appetit!
